I know Calvin was mildly interested in Sookie [from a breeding standpoint] but at the point I am now in the books [mid book 5] he's always been portrayed as honorable.

And he never struck me as a serious suitor for Sookie. They could have left the suitor stuff out and kept him "a nice guy." Also, I feel like the actor they cast is all wrong. They usually do a pretty good job with that.
