kc is underwhelmed
Sigh.
Disappointment.
That's really all I can feel right now. I really enjoyed season one, I especially enjoyed some of the episodes later in the season. (Pirate treasure ep!) And I really liked the whole cast of characters. But I am so so wary of season two. That opener was just... NOT THAT GREAT.
I mean, Jeff is still awesome for a kid and I LOVE the actor who is playing Callie's estranged husband, and the fact that he's totally cooperative with her asking him not to stay at the house is pretty chill of him and not at all what I expected from the character. He seemed like a much nicer guy than they made him out to be -- you can see why Callie was with him. He's not a monster... YET. (Although, making her wait 3 months to file for divorce is a little sneaky.) And Daniel, Callie, Jim, Carlos, etc. are all still very likeable. But something with this ep didn't sit right with me. I was bummed by the end of it. I thought I'd laugh and just enjoy it overall, but I was kind of "meh" by the end. And the case of the week didn't interest me at all, which sucks because I am not a procedural type of girl at all and yet I still managed to remain mostly interested in all of last season's cases. (With a few exceptions.) But I feel like that has more to do with liking the characters than anything else. And this episode was just lacking. I can't explain it.
I will definitely be keeping it on my schedule because as I mentioned, I am really eager to see more of the actor who is playing Ray. (Alotalot.) I think it will be really smart of them to play him not as a bad guy, but as genuine good-guy competition for Jim. But we'll see how I feel after a few more eps.
Dear television, why do you do this to me?
