it's an emergency = understatement

Elena Gilbert: I love her so much, but sometimes she can be really dumb. I'm just saying. If they're going to have her giggle and coo at Damon, can they please get someone capable to write a scene where it doesn't come off so forced? I have been trying to open myself to this pairing but they haven't really done much to woo me in that department. But more on Damon later. Elena is still one of my favorites. And she did stand up to him tonight. But the girl needs to get a grip. Do some homework. Eat some fruit. You know, normal people things.

Caroline Forbes: This girl. This girl. She slayed in this episode. Calling Damon on his shit and then kicking his ass. Her conversation with Elena at the end was a little weird "You shouldn't be liking Damon so ADMIT THAT YOU LIKE HIM." I feel like somebody fucked up in the writer's room on that one. But that last scene? Damn. Her father hurt her more with that one sentence than all the torturing in the world could do. I just want to hug her.

ALARIC MOTHER FUCKING SALTZMAN: You guys know that my NUMBER ONE issue with his character was how he's been playing lapdog to Damon for so long and there was no real balance between them. He was just his dude/drinking buddy/boyfriend/partner/co-thinker with no real questions asked and it was boring/unrealistic. But the dude stood up for Elena today and he stood up for Caroline (by proxy of her father) and he pretty much broke up with Damon and decided he is going to keep his family safe. This is what I have wanted for this character all along. I am cool with him being friends with Damon but after what Damon did in this ep (and you know.... all the other stuff he's done to Alaric) it is time for Alaric to untether himself from Damon's grip and get some shit done. They can still be pals, but Alaric needs to be his own man for once. It's about damn time. I approve!

Stefan Salvatore: I don't like him being tortured, and I have been steeling myself for the big "Angelus" turn he's going to inevitably make, but I was just so happy to see that he's still doing this all for Elena (and okay, Damon too.) And to know that he's keeping all of these secrets and actively plotting against Klaus. It's so Stefan, despite the measures he's having to go to in order to win Klaus over. And the end. THE END. Finally after four episodes they're back in Mystic Falls and Stefan knows he's in trouble. Somebody needs to revoke his bus pass. (Never leave again, Stefan!)

Someone commented to one of my recent posts, I think my Big Bang, and said that Stefan has never, and will never forgive himself for the things that he has done, then or now. And I wholeheartedly believe that's true. I am still nervous to see what all his character is going to have to go through this season. I am pretty certain he's going to go over to the "dark side" eventually, and not under necessity/protest either. And, I won't lie, It might just kill me.

Rebekah: Why was she not having sex with Stefan in this episode? This is the most important question. But secondly, why did she betray him? After she went after Klaus last episode I thought that her devotion to Klaus would be landing somewhere in Elijah-ville. Or at least halfway between. I still love her and am crossing my fingers that she's going to be waking Elijah up any second now. The Klaus/Rebekah thing is still a thing though. Perhaps even moreso.

Klaus: I need more from you babe. You have chemistry with my peeps, but you were kind of boring in this episode.

Bonnie Bennett: I don't even care. I'm just glad to see her face!

Tyler Lockwood: He was this episode's man-candy. I approve.

Damon Salvatore: Perfecting the art of being an asshole since 1860. I don't get it. Is he doing all of this just because Alaric wants him to give vulnerable, sweet, trusting Elena some space? Or is he doing it to prove he's nothing like Stefan? Either way, I have one question: Why is he such a child? The truth is his actions don't really surprise me because he doesn't exactly have a good track record at managing his emotions such as anger (at Alaric for what he said/implied/insisted) and fear (of exposure.) ETA: And selfishness. Cause putting vervain in the water supply would be a super huge inconvenience to him. This is just Damon lashing out in classic Damon fashion and I just... it makes me wonder where exactly they're going with his character. Damon is like *eyeroll* "Oh but you had your ring." And Alaric is like "so fucking what, you douchebag, you snapped my neck! I'm out!" Thank you, Alaric. He lost some trust tonight, with both Elena and Alaric, and that should mean something to him, and it should also mean something to them, but this show has a really bad habit of just letting him slide. I am hoping these consequences are not temporary and that he has to earn their trust again, rather than just swooping in later with a snarky comment and good timing as his salvation. It's not enough. But since trouble just rolled in to town at the same time he's leaving, I am not so sure.

Anna, Jeremy, & Anna/Jeremy: Malese was great in this ep. I really felt for Anna and I remembered how much I liked her. (But I am so torn because I also like Vicki.) And I love that she can touch Jeremy and vice versa. (At least I think that's what I got out of that scene.) This storyline feels like it's going to be a slow burn and has the potential to turn into something bigger. *crossing fingers* Jeremy finally did the smart thing and told his girlfriend about all of this, and he's got great chemistry with Malese, but I'm still unsure what this means for his character. Also, where was his boyfriend Matt in this episode?

Katerina Petrova: I love this girl. She just sneaks around like it's nobody's business and comes in and saves the day. And her pretending to be Elena and people falling for it will never get old. NEVER EVER. I am super curious where she's taking Damon, especially considering the boys are back in town. Long story short: I love Katherine forever and ever.
