meme: music shuffle.

Stolen from [livejournal.com profile] waltzmatildah:
1. Open up your music player. Hit shuffle.
2. Record the first few lines of the first thirty twenty songs that come up that do not give away the name of the song. Skip instrumentals, but don't skip the embarrassing ones. [I'm personally skipping all the obvious Christmas jams too.]
3. Ask hapless LJ denizens to guess the song names and artists. Google is cheating. For musical songs, the name of the musical is acceptable in place of the artist.
4. Least hapless LJ denizen wins admiration.

[001]
Under the mother eyes of the Mexican sky
She was happy and had chosen the sun

[002]
When she was just a girl, she expected the world
But it flew away from her reach

[003]
I was made in darkest night
Of chalky ash and children's fright

[004]
All night all I hear, all I hear's your heart
How come? How come?

[005]
Not one more word tonight between here and there
We'll put a distance the size of the ocean

[006]
No thunder in my heart
This razor's cutting sharp

[007]
I've seen the way you deal with things
The troubles that this life can bring

[008]
The food that I'm eating is suddenly tasteless
I know I'm alone now, I know what it tastes like

[009]
Well you've got your diamond and you've got your pretty clothes
And the chauffeur drives your car, you let everybody know

[010]
I want you to remember, a love so full it could send us all ways
And I want you to surrender, all my feelings rose today

[011]
I love the feeling when we lift off, watching the world so small below
I love the dreaming when I think of the safety in the clouds out my window

[012]
I've been tried and I've been tested
I was born tired, I never got arrested

[013]
Above the mayhem of the city, the crackheads in the street
From a window peering to the world alone

[014]
From darkened streets tonight, I see a simple time
I see a warning light...

[015]
Lost her behind the station, lost her behind the moon
Operator, operator, dial it back

[016]
[I'm fucking spilling shit everywhere, there's fucking soap on everything]
We don't need no walkie talkies, nope, no walkie talkies

[017]
Once I was a shadow of a man
Most dark nights my head was in its hands

[018]
When the time comes and your love is lost on me
I will grant you sympathy...

[019]
When we were younger we thought everyone was on our side
Then we grew a little

[020]
Cocaine flame in my blood stream, sold my coat when I hit Spokane
Bought myself a hard back of cigarettes in the early morning rain

10 I'll give you that one, It's Bush!

And yes on 17.

Also, I totally know what you mean about music knowledge being tied to fanvids sometimes. IT's a THING that happens.

Also, I never saw the vid you're referring to on #3! I kind of don't want to because I had "tentative vid plans" for that song. LOL. (That will probably never materialize, but whatever.)

WOOT for fanvids! I love being introduced to new music through them!

Here's the Shosanna/Inglorious Basterds vid I was referring to with my #3. Although a comment on the link tells me that you DID see this vid. Unless there's another "crickets" on Dreamwidth? :D

Hahah okay maybe I did and I just don't know who Shosanna is by name?

Now that you said Inglorious Basterds I totally know who you mean. CLICKING.

Yeah, that's happened to me as well. I have images and faces in my mind, but no name connection. It's weird!

It's such an awesome vid and song! Love it.

I only ever saw that movie once, but yes you're right. I can't believe I forgot that vid especially since I know the song. Gonna file that one under "wait three years, then try it." because WOW. How perfect did those two themes go together?

[identity profile] turquoisetumult.livejournal.com 2012-06-16 07:29 pm (UTC)(link)
The song and source went EXTREMELY well together! I love finding those fanvids where it's just like "Wow, so this song was basically made for this movie/tv show/etc, right?!" :D
