Sony Vegas Question

Does anybody know how to fix the "building peaks" stage in Sony Vegas so that I can skip any video files but still build peaks for my music? What happened is that I ended up using a different cut of my song and so I ended up adding it mid-way through the project. And now every time I open the project file I have to wait for the episodes to build. Which, since they're massive MP4s, is taking forever.

In the lower left hand corner to the left of the percentage bar is a button labeled "cancel", click it to stop peak building when it comes up.

I'm bad for leaving Vegas open from start to finish on a vid.

Oh sorry, I should have been more specific. My song was added mid-way through so when I open the project, it builds the episodes that came before it in the project media first and the song last. If I hit cancel, it cancels everything. Including the song. I wish there was a way to re-order the project media to make the song first, but I haven't figured it out yet.

Oh, in that case forget what I said unless you want to delete the episodes from the project, then put them back in so they're after the music file.

I did that but it erased all my edits too. This is what happens when you decide to edit a song in the middle of vidding and replace the original mp3 file I guess. Good news! I just had an epiphany when you suggested this and tried something. I found out that if I delete the SONG from the project file and then hit CTRL+Z it brings it back and loads peaks. Thank the damn lord.

I might be wrong, but I think you can move the file while Sony Vegas is closed, then specify a new file location when it opens. If this ever comes up again. :)

I'll have to try it! Thank you!

With my Movie Studio 6, I can cancel the video files from trying to build peaks, then go to View - Rebuild Audio Peaks and it will give me the audio peaks for my music (you can also use Shift + F5 as a keyboard shortcut). But, of course, that could be only for my old Baby Vegas, ;) I dunno. But you could at least have a look-see and maybe the same option is there for you... *fingers crossed* ;) ♥!
