Hah, I never actually watched Sex in the City.

That's partially it, but I'm actually pretty tired of Austin pretty much playing the same character -- the generic jock/popular kid/cool guy. First in Life Unexpected, then in Switched at Birth (although I did end up really liking his character Wilke in that one), and now The Carrie Diaries.
