A few weeks at the cinema.

The Fall: I finally saw this movie after having it in my possession for months. It was gorgeous. The little girl was adorable. There needs to be more Lee Pace in my life, people. I will see anything he's in at this point. What a beautiful man.

I'm Reed Fish: I don't know why but I really liked this cute little movie. The kind of movie that makes you wish you lived in such a quintessential small town - despite its dysfunction. Katey Sagal was really good in her small part. Apparently it's actually written by a guy named Reed Fish so I'm assuming it's somewhat autobiographical. Schuyler Fisk was completely fantastic in it and I think it resurrected my secret desire to be a bonafide redhead. Jay Baruchel is so skinny. Totally irrelevant. Very cute and worth seeing.

He's Just Not That Into You: So it was cute, but I'm not sure how much I actually liked this movie. It was nice to see Ginnifer Goodwin as someone other than Margene Hendrickson from Big Love, but I'm not really sure how much I liked her character. The best part of the movie is the storyline with Ben Affleck and Jennifer Aniston, I truly liked that pairing. And speaking of skinny, did Ben Affleck look way too skinny in this movie or what? He looked way too much like his brother and that's not good. They're built in completely different ways. It was strange. I feel like I'm the only person who has noticed this.

Fanboys: OMG This movie sucks! *stabs it repeatedly*

Push: So I really, really liked the premise and I might have a little bit of a thing for Chris Evans, thank you [livejournal.com profile] falseeeyelashes, but the execution fell way flat. Dakota was awesome in a more grown-up role. Swearing and everything. Go her. And I surprisingly really enjoyed Cliff Curtis who incidentally was also in Sunshine with Chris Evans! Again, irrelevant. So aside from individual performances and a great premise and some neat effects, the movie wasn't so awesome. But if you're bored, I can think of worse ways to spend a lazy afternoon.

Star Trek: Wee! That was fun! And nice to see on the big screen. I'm not a fan from way back, never seen the series or any of the older movies the whole way through, so I'm not quite sure a sequel would hold my attention but you never know.

The Fall! Guh YES. I loved that movie so much. The scenery really was gorgeous and Lee Pace was wonnderful. I just wanted to hug him lol

And Star Trek! Yay! I thought it was fun too! I don't think I need any more Star Trek in my life lol but it was definitely an enjoyable flick.

I still need to see Reed Fish. *nods*
Whoo hoo movies!

You should definitely download it. I'm sorry that you're in such crappy movies Kristen Bell, but you know... at least you're in movies!

[identity profile] gigglemonster.livejournal.com 2009-05-12 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
Hahaha it counts for something.
Hopefully they'll end up making that Veronica Mars movie! That won't be crappy!

Nowai! That'll be awesome!

Oh, The Fall is so wonderful and Lee Pace is amazing!

[identity profile] crickets.livejournal.com 2009-05-12 01:25 am (UTC)(link)
Right? Love him!

What?! I thought you had seen that film already! It's STUNNING, in every meaning of the word. Catinca (the girl) and Lee work SO well off each other (there are some behind the scenes clip of them and ♥♥♥) and ... God, that film is just wonderful. It makes me chuckle and cry and everything in between. Best movie I've seen in a looong time... Seriously, I need to watch more Lee Pace films. Just gotta get my hands on them. :)

[identity profile] crickets.livejournal.com 2009-05-12 12:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Nope. It was great. Too bad it probably made very little money. The director is amazing. I hope he continues to be able to make movies.

I know Tarsem made "The Cell," but I've never seen it. "The Fall" was certainly a piece of art though. And, yes, it was sadly underappreciated because mainstream culture kind of blows (a lot, actually!)

Isn't The Fall beautiful? I loved that movie. :)

[identity profile] crickets.livejournal.com 2009-05-12 12:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes indeed.

AW THE FALL!!! I saw it sometime last year and I fell in love with it completely! The visuals, the story, the little girl, the scene where he pretty much kills everyone... AUGH! Stunning.

And I was doing sort of a Lee Pace Marathon, too. Pushing Daisies, then Miss Pettigrew Lives For a Day (he's adorable in it!) and then The Fall.
I loved him in Miss Pettigrew, but The Fall sealed the deal for me, I fell in love with him all over again. ♥

[identity profile] crickets.livejournal.com 2009-05-12 12:12 pm (UTC)(link)
I quite agree.

I have also had Miss Pettigrew on my computer for longer than I care to discuss, and yet have not watched it, haha.

Hey, honey.

It's so long since I went to the cinema, or indeed watched a movie - and yet this post reminds me I have a film I wanted to post about!

Also: OMG This movie sucks! *stabs it repeatedly*

I sometimes wish that all magazine reviews were so concise when there is nowt to commed a film. It made me giggle!

*G*

Hey!

Hahah, well there was really no other way to put it. Someone should definitely take a cue from me in the movie review business.

I haven't seen Fanboys yet, damn though it looked good, it's one of those that leaves all the good stuff in the trailer and then sucks the rest of the time, isn't it.

I think I'm the last person that still hasn't seen Star Trek..*sigh*

[identity profile] crickets.livejournal.com 2009-05-12 07:32 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know maybe I'm not the best judge. I don't typically go for those types of things anyway.

[identity profile] wingedseraph7.livejournal.com 2009-05-12 03:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Aw! Sad to see you didn't like Fanboys! I thought it was hilarious, esp all the guest stars that came in but then again I'm a huge SW fan.

[identity profile] crickets.livejournal.com 2009-05-12 07:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah I didn't laugh once. Not that I remember anyway. And I liked the new movie, but I wouldn't exactly call myelf a star wars fan, ya know?

Tis okay. You can do no wrong fellow BSG lover.
