Craig Ferguson Knows All

Just to post something not depressing after my last two posts. Promise I'll get to all those who commented. I just feel like I'm saying the same thing over and over. I swiped this from [livejournal.com profile] kiki_miserychic on twitter.

While I love Craig and I do take this in a non-serious way, it stikes my issue of "older" people disregarding "younger" people simply because of their age. And when people call you stupid and useless all the time, you realize that it's nearly impossible to defy that perception in any meaningful way and instead of going out and changing the world young people do stupid stuff because that's what adults expect them to do, and that's what today's soceity restricts them into doing.

Sorry. I need to write a book about this and get on with it.

I suppose it really depends on personal perspective and your own experiences. I'm someone (who's not exactly old, 28) who, when fresh out of high school, thought most of the young people around me were total idiots. And I'm pretty sure he's not just talking about teenagers here. And certainly not children.

I honestly think that "grown-ups" expecting younger people to be young and inexperienced is hardly a crime. Especially in comparison with this kind of discrimination (http://roomfordebate.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/04/12/older-workers-need-not-apply/). (Forty-five's not that far away, hold on.)

And I mean, being young and inexperienced can be beneficial. People allow for that, and give young people the chance to make mistakes, the chance learn and grow. I have been on the recieving end of that several times.

And Craig's not terribly wrong. Just look at popular and Olympic athletes, some of the most well-respected and looked-up-to people in our society. And then take look at some of the dumb decisions they make, Michael Phelps! (I'm not saying he's any different than many other people his age, but also? Not so smart in terms of protecting his image.)

And okay, you don't actually believe that young people do the dumb shit that they do because society MAKES them to it? Do you? Hello personal responsibility.

THAT WAS FU-*FRENCH FLAG CENSORED*-ING AWESOME!!!!!!!!

We actually learned about the media targeting the young in my Consumer Behavior class so it was actually really great hearing a comedic take on it.

I love Craig Ferguson! ♥

Yeah it was a nice summary of things, heh.

I love him more every time I see him if that's possible.
