Well this sounds ominous!
Twitter brings lots of surprises this friday:
"Good morning dear friends. I wish I could share with you all the goings on in the world of Mystic Falls, but that would ruin the surprise. Needless to say, as we reach the end of season 2, much is happening. We're all crazy busy over here working to make this one hell of an ending. Get ready for big changes and many surprises. So, if I have seemed distant lately, it's because of the creative and emotional demands we as an ensemble are going through together. I wish to thank you all for your love and support. First thought:
Matt's leaving the show and Alaric never should have given that ring back to Uncle Daddy Gilbert.

Ending? ENDING?! Is the show ending?
(As far as I know it hasn't been renewed and I don't know specifics about the ratings. But, I have my doubts that CW would cancel it. As far as I know it's one of their hits. Yet still, it sounds a bit too gloomy.)

Then again maybe he just becomes a vampire as well and he just needs to get into the mindframe. ;) *crosses fingers* also he's saying ENSEMBLE, not just him.
Damn, I really don't want him to go. XD
That said they didn't say anything about renewals since apparently there's some changing at the head of the management (I think the current boss is leaving) but I'd be very surprised if they didn't renew it. It pretty much has some of their best ratings, they'd be suicidal if they canceled it.

That's what made me worry most about Alaric. I'm pretty confident the show will be renewed but I guess cancellation is always in the back of the mind of a fan scorned by stupid network decisions.
