Title: lam
Fandom: LOST
Characters: jack/sawyer
Rating: pg13
Summary: The long arm of the law finally catches up with Sawyer and he makes a break for it. Jack makes a promise.
Author's Notes: Written for [livejournal.com profile] uhzoomzip for [livejournal.com profile] lostsquee luau! Motorcycles! Vroom! Vroom! A tad angsty. No beta.

He travels to the tune of a memory – dark leather and hot flesh, pressing against him, inside him. Sawyer grips the metal between his thighs, hugs the turns, and counts the mile markers, every one pulling him further away from the doc, from Jack.

“You take it and you go,” he remembers Jack’s words as a helmet is shoved into his hands.

Long arm of the law was bound to catch up to him eventually.

He wants to argue, to ask Jack to come along, tell him he can’t run alone, can’t run without him. But words don’t come.

“Straight for the border,” Jack instructs. “No looking back, I mean it.”

Sawyer kisses him then, hovering over the bike in the darkness of the alleyway, the sound of sirens getting closer – too close.

“Dammit,” he groans against Jack’s hot tongue. There’s no time, but this sure as hell doesn’t feel like a goodbye.

“I’ll come for you,” Jack promises without being asked, and Sawyer believes it.

Mexico is dirty, like he remembers it. It seems dirtier now cause of the waiting, and the drinks are never stiff enough. He thunders through the countryside, rides along the coast, with only sky and sun and ocean to greet him and this machine.

It’s dark when he finds the spot. He parks, takes off his boots, walks out to meet the Pacific. He closes his eyes as the waves wash over his bare feet, soaking the cuffs of his jeans.

There’s a sound up the beach a ways, something moving in the dark.

He holds his breath and counts to ten.

Ah, it was only a matter of time before the long arm of the law tried to embrace our dear friend Sawyer. I love, love, love Jack for telling him to run almost as much as I love him for promising to find him. It's just so tragic and bittersweet. But now I'm thinking of their meeting in Mexico, and all is right with the world.

Great job with this! ♥

Thank you honey! I had a hard time with this actually so I'm really glad you liked it! Haha maybe that reunion will have to be a sequel? LOL.

Oh wow, I loved this! Perfect use of the motorcycle prompt for our favorite outlaw! Srsly, I haven't seen that many Sawyer-on-the-run fics and this ficlet conjures up such a wonderfully angsty scenario.

[identity profile] crickets.livejournal.com 2007-07-27 06:04 am (UTC)(link)
:D Thank you! I like Sayer on-the-run stories for some reason. I like road stories for some reason. Doing it with a bike was definitely a new concept for me though. Fun prompt! Thanks for your comment!

Oh, Sawyer. We all choose to believe that after the island they all get a clean start, but that's just not realistic. i love it that Jack loves Sawyer enough to let him go and that Sawyer loves Jack enough not to give in to his self destructive impulses and run, run so they'll be able to meet again.

Loved it.

[identity profile] crickets.livejournal.com 2007-07-27 06:06 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks, hon. And they will meet again. Definitely.

I LOVE your icon, by the way.

Mexico. Where all the white people go. XD Great job!

[identity profile] crickets.livejournal.com 2007-07-27 12:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Is that the saying? Hahhaa. Thanks!

[identity profile] neoreulwonhae.livejournal.com 2007-07-27 05:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Haha, I dunno if it's a saying, I just thought of that 'cause the Mexicans are coming up here and the Americans are going down there. XD

[identity profile] crickets.livejournal.com 2007-07-27 05:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Haha I admit I was baffled lol. It sounded like something out of a song. I almost googled it. LOL. But now it makes sense.

I LOVE the urgency of this. Love it. It feels epic. Your style is really quite singular, I'm so glad I get to read it.

[identity profile] crickets.livejournal.com 2007-07-27 12:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, my. *blush* You make me blush!

[identity profile] haldoor.livejournal.com 2007-07-27 09:09 am (UTC)(link)
This is just stunning - the promise of more... absolutley gorgeous!

[identity profile] crickets.livejournal.com 2007-07-27 12:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you! :D

[identity profile] alemyrddin.livejournal.com 2007-07-27 11:36 am (UTC)(link)
You caught a very original angle here! It's become a sort of fandom cliché perhaps that every past action will be forgotten after their stay on the island, so it's very interesting reading a different situation.

And of course, Jack will find him soon, right? ;)

[identity profile] crickets.livejournal.com 2007-07-27 12:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Of course!

Thank you. I guess I never really noticed that trend but I suppose your right. It's easier that way. Just wipe it clean. But sometimes dirtier is better. Hahhaha.

[identity profile] uhzoomzip.livejournal.com 2007-07-27 02:54 pm (UTC)(link)
oh, this was just chock full of hot angsty goodness! it's aching and hopeful all at once. and motorcycles! :-)

how much do i love this line:
He closes his eyes as the waves wash over his bare feet, soaking the cuffs of his jeans.

thanks so much for this babe - it's just delicious.

[identity profile] crickets.livejournal.com 2007-07-27 05:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh you're very welcome! I admit it was a challenge. And you know I can't stay away from the angst. I'm super stoked you liked it! Always to please the queen!

[identity profile] gigglemonster.livejournal.com 2007-07-27 03:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Ow, ow, ow I love it! :)

He travels to the tune of a memory – dark leather and hot flesh, pressing against him, inside him

I LOVE how you can write stuff like that, and have it be hotter than any smut ever could be. It's amazing.
And Jack telling him to run, and promising to come for him...oh my gosh. This is so lovely.
Mexico sequel?? I vote hell yes!

[identity profile] crickets.livejournal.com 2007-07-27 05:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Hahaha you wish! I'm kidding... I'll think about it. I still have to write you that damn boat fic! Haha. Somet things come to me and some things I have to work for. Hard lesson to learn.

BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRUUUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!

Thighs and throbbing engines and hot metal?

That's got me kickstarted, anyhow.

*hugs that smell of engine oil*

[identity profile] crickets.livejournal.com 2007-07-27 09:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Haha, you are adorble.

*squishes you*

[identity profile] crickets.livejournal.com 2007-07-27 09:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Hahah possibly! I'm thinkin' about it! :D

Thank you!

[identity profile] slybrunette.livejournal.com 2007-07-27 09:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, someone kicked ass with that prompt.

He travels to the tune of a memory – dark leather and hot flesh, pressing against him, inside him. Sawyer grips the metal between his thighs, hugs the turns, and counts the mile markers, every one pulling him further away from the doc, from Jack.

That is truly one hell of an opening.

I love that you didn't forget who Sawyer was before the island, what he's done. It gives this a certain edge.

Great job!

[identity profile] crickets.livejournal.com 2007-07-27 10:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Well thanks for saying so sweetie. I have a feeling this luau is going to test my muse like she's never been tested before! ♥!

[identity profile] slybrunette.livejournal.com 2007-07-27 10:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Tell me all about it.

btw, we've got storms here, so I'm getting offline till they pass. Just know i've got about 1500 words of Alex/Richard fic to be posted when I get back. I didn't forget about you :)

[identity profile] crickets.livejournal.com 2007-07-27 10:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh my god! Squee! I can't wait!

We have the same storms here I think. Not sure if it's gonna hit us here or not. It's been tempting.

[identity profile] slybrunette.livejournal.com 2007-07-28 01:55 am (UTC)(link)
Well they totally missed us, which figures because I intentionally didn't turn on the sprinklers. Freaking drought.

*goes back to finishing the fic*

[identity profile] inthekeyofd.livejournal.com 2007-07-27 11:33 pm (UTC)(link)
This was PERFECTION, seriously, in so few words, not only did you create a feeling, a sense of heaviness that Sawyer is in trouble, but that he's more concerned that Jack comes than if he gets away.

Damn, this is fantastic!!!

[identity profile] crickets.livejournal.com 2007-07-28 05:36 am (UTC)(link)
Oh sweetie thank you! Perfection Haha. *blush*

[identity profile] zelda-zee.livejournal.com 2007-07-28 07:51 am (UTC)(link)
*flails*

Damn, woman! This is just - your writing leaves me speechless. I really, really love it.

[identity profile] crickets.livejournal.com 2007-07-28 02:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Ha, the feeling is definitely mutual!

[identity profile] gemjam.livejournal.com 2007-07-28 10:12 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, this is so very angsty, and yet it has this kind of vein of hopefulness that comes from his connection to Jack. I love that goodbye, that kiss, and I love Jack for protecting Sawyer by making him leave. But then the fact that he makes the promise to find him, and that Sawyer believes it and that that kind of keeps him going. I love that. There's something kind of haunting about this fic that I really love. You have such a way with words. Great work :)

[identity profile] crickets.livejournal.com 2007-07-28 02:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, thank you so much hon. I'm terribly flattered. Thank you for reading and can I just say that I love love LOVE your icon. So pretty!

[identity profile] alliecat8.livejournal.com 2007-08-05 04:34 am (UTC)(link)
I'm using today to catch up with the luau. All of it! Oh, how I love Jack for helping Sawyer get away. I believe that Jack will come for him. He's just that kind of trustworthy, responsible guy. And even if Sawyer's an outlaw, he loves and needs Jack. Such great images in this fic. Love it!

[identity profile] gottalovev.livejournal.com 2008-01-11 03:00 am (UTC)(link)
oh wow, I love this! short but so great!

what do you say I am late? me? lol!
