There are 2 new love interests being cast. One I'm pretty sure is recurring the other I'm not sure. One is for Alaric (Paul Wesley's RL wife, coincidentally) and one is for Bonnie.
I have ISSUES with people being cast JUST to be love interests, first of all, and second of all, it's not so much that they shouldn't be cast, it's that they just keep adding new characters and not really giving the characters we already have the time of day. It's more of a population control thing with me lol.
GAH, yes! Much as I'd like to see Bonnie in a relationship where she is appreciated, I do not want another character. Why not, instead of going the romance route yet again, we develop one of Bonnie's friendships?!
Why not let her spend more than 5 minutes every third episode with Elena, who is supposed to be one of her closest friends? Why not let Bonnie + Caroline spend time together when it isn't about saving their friends from a supernatural threat? Why not bring back Elijah and have him court Bonnie to be his new witch (since he lost Mr. Martin) and have Bonnie basically roll her eyes at him until they actually realize that they could stop Klaus by working together?
And Alaric...I don't care much for him at all but I'd rather see him continue in his slayer school than give him a new love interest. It's been about 5 seconds since Jenna DIED and that's not even taking into account everything that happened with Isobel. The guy doesn't need a love interest but could probably use some regular therapy like all of these people. Why not work on that instead?
Dear The Vampire Diaries: why would you ever think it was a good idea to follow in the footsteps of True Blood? First you pay far too much attention to werewolves, and now you are adding too many cast members. STOP.
as I noticed when they add new characters they kill them off in a matter of time. only Alaric survived. ofc it's less time for main characters but at least they get rid of them. I hate that they're always casting someone new. and this someone new never just a human, always spn or a witch. Elena, Alaric, Matt and Jeremy are the only humans. and now Jer is a ghost whisperer? ugh.
