Spooky spooky!

Hey you guys! Tell me your favorite spooky/Halloween/fall movies & TV episodes. Old black and white movies are a bonus! Anything on Netflix is a bonus! Anything spooky but also funny is a bonus!

I have the TV to myself in the evenings for the next (almost) three weeks while my parents are in Africa and I am so excited for fall/October that it's not funny. I need a primer! And don't hesitate to suggest things you know/suspect I've already seen. I probably forgot about it!

A shortlist:

- Arsenic and Old Lace
- Psycho
- Rear Window
- Halloweentown
- The Witches

ETA: I FORGOT THE MOST IMPORTANT ONE OF ALL: THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS. The only movie appropriate at any point in time between October and January.

Hocus Pocus, Halloween (or one in the series) and Practical Magic are must watches for me around this time of year. I also tend to work in something from the Resident Evil franchise.

The only funny "scary" movies I can think of are: the Scream series, Zombieland and Shaun of the Dead. I know there are more -- lots more -- but I'm blanking on them at the moment.

Well, Hocus Pocus is the best of course! :)

The Shining and Scream?

[identity profile] crickets.livejournal.com 2014-09-17 07:31 pm (UTC)(link)
You know I haven't watched the original Scream in forever. I own Scream 4 (I love that franchise more than should logically be allowed.) I really should go back and watch these!

I actually read the Shining for the first time this year. Watching the movie would be interesting after the fact. (Been a long time for that one too!)

King wrote a sequel to the Shining last year. I enjoyed it immensely. I'd be curious what you'd think!

I don't actually think I've seen the Halloweentown movies. Only the previews! I'll have to see if it's available anywhere! Thank you!

Fright Night (the original) is one of my favourites. And just for horror/comedy value, though it's more alien-meets-desert-dweelers, I adore Tremors!

[identity profile] crickets.livejournal.com 2014-09-22 05:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh I have never seen Fright Night. Tremors is a classic, haha. But I'm not sure I can watch it with a straight face!
