Brief TV Thoughts

First, hello to all my new friends from the summer befriending meme. (They should totally be called befriending memes! And I'm not just saying that because my browser corrected me.) Welcome everyone!

Here are some quick non-spoilery thoughts about TV.

Penny Dreadful: While I have some minor issues with this show, I am glad that [livejournal.com profile] ozmissage gave me her elevator pitch on why I should watch it, because it is one of the only shows in a while that has engaged me this much. Lots of thoughts about this band of damaged oddballs.

Pretty Little Liars: Holy crap I have been loving this season. Spoilers redacted. This last episode was kind of amazing despite the spoilers redacted. I feel like they've created a whole new dynamic and I couldn't be MORE BESIDE MYSELF. /Random caps.

Leverage: Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] slybrunette I have begun my journey into Leverage madness apparently. She's supposed to be watching The Killing as a kind of "fandom exchange" so we'll see where that goes. Really loving all the characters on this show and its unique brand of campy fun. Parker is perfect. OT3 is pretty well perfect. And I've already gotten through the first two seasons, so I'm kind of all in.

Rectify: This show continues to be a slow moving but beautifully detailed story that I just can't seem to shake. I believe [livejournal.com profile] kiki_miserychic and [livejournal.com profile] killmotion are watching, but more of you should be. Because it's beautiful. Not even necessarily the kind of show you have to talk about. Just let it wash over you. Yeah.

So You Think You Can Dance: I'm having trouble going "all in" this season but it may be because I work Wednesday nights and so I have to catch up when I can. I do have a few favorites, but I'm not fully committed yet. Are Tabitha and Napoleon going to choreograph this season? I really love their work and miss them when they're not around. Sometimes I love Chris Scott's hip hop routines and sometimes they bore me to tears. NappyTabs always brings it. I think Mary was channeling L'il C this episode with some of her commentary. Speaking of that, whatever happened to L'il C? I miss his randomness! (How did this turn into the SYTYCD nostalgia hour?)

That's about it for me. I'm behind on The Fosters, and don't have much to say about Switched at Birth or True Blood (which wasn't the greatest last week).

Leverage is probably one of my favorite shows ever also PARKER! Can I have her pocket sized?!

I'm lukewarm on this season of SYTYCD. I like almost none of the dancers. The girls are so obnoxious this year. I can't even. Actually the only people I really like are the tappers.

The Fosters... I want this show to be better than it currently is.

I don't know how I missed it for so long. Parker is wonderful. I basically mainlined this first two seasons but haven't had a chance to watch any since my minivacation ended. I think I'll have to dive into season three this weekend.

I'm two episodes in on Penny Dreadful and one episode in on Rectify.

I've not watched either PLL or Leverage before but have been encouraged to do so with both by many people so... Maybe I should get started with that!

[livejournal.com profile] slybrunette should totally watch TK! And then she should write me alllllll the Rosie fic!

[identity profile] crickets.livejournal.com 2014-07-16 06:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh what do you think of them!?

PLL is shockingly addicting/good. If you do decide to watch we'll have to discuss "our favorite Liar" which is like the first question I ask anyone when I find out they watch that show. (For the record, mine is Hanna.)

I don't know if she's watched the pilot yet. I think she's avoiding me because she's been too busy to. LOL. ROSIE. Ugh I have so many feelings for a girl who was BARELY ON SCREEN. It's insane.

Hi new friend!

I wasn't too taken with this past Wednesday's episode of SYTYCD. I'm still not over the loss of the thrust stage too despite how many seasons ago it was. All my favourite dances were danced on that thrust stage. Alas.

I also wish I wasn't so tired of Sonya's choreog. :-\

Hi there!!

Yeah I LOVVED that stage. The camera-work is even different with this "new" stage. (Yeah, I agree it's not really new, but every season I just keep hoping they'll switch back or at least do something different with it. Alas, they have not!

I feel like I always love her choreography to an extent but it does get repetitive which makes it kind of annoying. I was shocked she did a contemporary routine instead of jazz. Does she ever do contemporary? That I liked.

PLL has been ON FIRE this season. All they need to do is send Ezra to jail for stalking and it'd be perfect. (Or, well, there are other dudes I wish they'd lose, but Ezra would be a good start.)

Leverage was delightful. Parker was my favorite, too and I adore the OT3.

Right? I feel like this week's episode was sort of a let down after last week's awesomeness, but I'm still totally loving it. I was glad the way the Aria/Ezra stuff played out this week. I was not cool with her just going back to him like that and I'm glad she set some ground rules. Which isn't much but I'll take it considering I don't believe, they'll ever fully get rid of him to be honest. I don't have any problems with anyone else. Although I can rarely muster much enthusiasm for Toby most days.

I like Leverage, but I haven't seen that many episodes.

Did I tell you that I started watching Orphan Black? I have a few more episodes left to watch in the first season.

It's pretty cute. Not sure if you'd like it enough to watch more but it's on Netflix so worth a shot!!

I loved season 1 and with a few exceptions thought they did great plot-wise. Season 2 wasn't my favorite and I'm not sure if I'll watch season 3 whenever it comes out.

MTE on all things PLL. I have been so into this season.

[identity profile] crickets.livejournal.com 2014-07-16 07:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Right? I was so behind because of my schedule and then ended up marathoning the end of last season just before this season started. By the time I got to the finale I was pumped. Just having Ally back for real has really changed the show for the better I think.

[identity profile] dreamwishdo.livejournal.com 2014-07-12 07:18 pm (UTC)(link)
The 100th episode of PLL was the best one in a long time. I seriously hope that this season is better than the last.

I don't watch SYTYCD, but the kid Teddy on the show is from Webster, NY which is 20 minutes from me. He has quite the support group here in WNY.

[identity profile] crickets.livejournal.com 2014-07-16 07:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Wasn't it? I loved the ending. So ominous with all the ring tones going off. I was ok with last season but that was because of my schedule I ended up having to marathon it so I didn't watch week-to-week. I find when I do that I'm more forgiving of flaws.

[identity profile] favoritexrecord.livejournal.com 2014-07-16 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
I'm really enjoying PLL too! This season already seems better than the last!

[identity profile] crickets.livejournal.com 2014-07-16 07:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Definitely. I think Ally being back and them changing up the format (for a few episodes anyway) without an A to harass them has added a different dimension to the show.
