Dude.

*flails*

That was frickin' awesome stuff. The video looked like it was filmed looking through broken pieces of sea glass. Very cool. I loved the last little bits with the burning paper. Very haunting.

I see you got to New Caprica. Those were some kick-ass episodes. Wait'll you get to "Unfinished Business". Total squee-fest for the A/R fan, meaning me. I don't know who you're shipping in BSG. :-)

I think I have a fangirl crush on Galen Tyrol. He's so good-looking. Between him and the A/R lovin', I'm a happy fan.

[identity profile] crickets.livejournal.com 2007-08-18 02:45 am (UTC)(link)
Dude, I love Tyrol so much! *squishes him*

I swear I talked to you about that before in an e-mail or an LJ comment. Hahaha. Maybe you didn't get it. Whoops.

Anyway who do I ship? I dunno, Starbuck/Apollo, Roslin/Adama, Starbuck/Anders, Anders/Apollo, Sharon/Helo, Helo/Tyrol, Tyrol/His Sucker, Apollo/Roslin!, Tyrol/Cally, etc. etc. Clearly, the easier question would be who DON'T I ship? LOL.

I'm glad you liked this. This is BY FAR my favorite story arch on the show. It showed us so many different sides to these characters. It was just beautiful!

And thanks for the fic rec I will definitely check her out!

Did you watch my friend, [livejournal.com profile] dayln03's BSG vid? So good! It's posted at her journal!

[identity profile] barefoot-chick.livejournal.com 2007-08-18 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
I almost forgot. I need to rec a fanfic author to you.

[livejournal.com profile] synecdochic

She is just an amazing writer. All of her stories are just...wow... I don't know how to describe them. Each word is perfect. Her writing and the characters she crafts from canon are in tattered ragged packages that hold hope and meaning. I end up saying "Oh, Rodney" or "Oh, Jack" a lot because she makes me feel for the characters so much.

I will tell you that she writes fic for Stargate: SG-1 and Stargate: Atlantis. I'm not trying to get you into another fandom. Well, if you do get into it, you can cheerfully blame me. However, it really doesn't matter which fandom or which pairing you're into. The stories end up being so much more than canon.

Here's a link to the one of her best stories:

YAY!
I've said a million times, and I'm gonna keep saying it, the coloring and texture are simply gorrgeous! Like someone else said, it's almost like looking through broken glass, it fits the tone of the vid just perfectly!
I totally love the shot of Kara at 41 seconds, goes so well with the lyrics, and at 1:06, that shot of Ellen behind the flames, just gives me the shiveries! lol Oh Ellen. And at 1:46, Kara wiping her blood off on the floor, that whole scene with her and Leoban, definitely one of my favorite parts of the vid. I really love the shots where you can really see the texture, those shots of Caprica and Baltar at the end with all the dust, its just s'damn pretty!
I'm completely in love with the way you interpreted the lyrics, stuff that I would NEVER have thought of, but that work so perfectly, it's amazing, you're brain..I want it! lol
I love the ending shot, oh Baltar, you stupid genius!
KC, for real, this vid is so breath taking, you captured those episodes soooo awesomely!
I can't stop watching!!! SQUEE!

[identity profile] crickets.livejournal.com 2007-08-18 07:46 am (UTC)(link)
Dude. You are my favorite person ever haha. Stupid genius that we love so much! Even though he is probably evil and will always sell out humanity to serve his own ends. LOL. At least he's conflicted about it!

*squishes*

[identity profile] lostonbroadway.livejournal.com 2007-08-18 03:20 am (UTC)(link)
That was just absolutely gorgeous! I have always loved the haunting sound of that song and you put it together with this story arc so nicely. Of course, I loved the coloring. Just brillaint! I can't tell you how much I love it ♥

[identity profile] crickets.livejournal.com 2007-08-18 07:54 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks so much sweetie! By the way I believe I said this in response to your YouTube comment, but I have updated all the links. Fixed a couple bugs I missed the first go-round. So if you bookmarked it or anything those links will all eventually be dead so you might want to update those. Thanks again for the comment. I'm SO glad you liked it!

Gah! I love this show!

[identity profile] lostonbroadway.livejournal.com 2007-08-18 08:18 am (UTC)(link)
And favorites are so updated!
Really is amazing. I have watched it about 5 times :P Just the whole feel of it is ♥ Not really much more to say... *sigh*

[identity profile] twofordinner.livejournal.com 2007-08-18 04:10 am (UTC)(link)
This is AMAZING! I don't know how you do the colouring but it's brilliant! :D Great job with this, definitely favourite-ing.

[identity profile] crickets.livejournal.com 2007-08-18 07:57 am (UTC)(link)
I used Sony Vegas and a combination of curves, brightness contrast, color balance maybe? (so many layers I forget and I don't have the file open right now, sorry!) and two different textures to give it the "dirty" effect. I don't know if you wanted to know all that - haha. But there ya go!

I'm so glad you liked the vid! Just to let you know, I've updated the links on all of these. So if you bookmarked or favorited any of those - you'll have to update your links cause those will be dead in a few days. Sorry! I saw a few things I needed to fix in hindsight!

Thanks for commenting! :D

[identity profile] twofordinner.livejournal.com 2007-08-18 05:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks! :D I'm actually planning to get Sony Vegas right now so knowing that I can do this with that program makes me want to get it even more! ;)

Ah thanks for the update! :D I'll be sure to update. Also checked out some of your other vids. Amazing job wit hthe SN promo and the LOST vids! ;)

[identity profile] crickets.livejournal.com 2007-08-19 06:24 am (UTC)(link)
Oh you'll definitely enjoy the program. Try having a look at [livejournal.com profile] dayln03's videos for some of the more complicated things that you can do with it. I'm very much a minimalist when it comes to vidding. And just a fair warning. Vegas is not a particularly easy program to master initially. But once you figure out how to make it work for you and learn your way around the navigation and try different things, It's a really great program because it gives you all sort of creative freedom that you might not have with other editing programs. Good luck with it!

And thanks for checking out my other vids! I'm glad you like!

[identity profile] twofordinner.livejournal.com 2007-08-19 08:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks! :D And thanks for the tip, there really is a lot of stuff you can do!

[identity profile] angelene.livejournal.com 2007-08-18 08:41 am (UTC)(link)
This is fabulous. I never realized that this song could be so fitting for a lot of the BSG characters/events.

[identity profile] crickets.livejournal.com 2007-08-18 02:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you. Honestly I didn't either. I was searching for a song to tell the story of the occupation and on a whim I listened to this song again paying close attention to the lyrics and it fit so well I just had to use it. Imogen Heap and her riddles haha. Finally starting to make some sense when applied to this context! I'm glad you liked it! And thank you so much for commenting!

[identity profile] lillerina.livejournal.com 2007-08-18 10:51 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, wow. This is entirely outside my fandom - I've never even seen an pisode of BSG but this vid was incredible. I loved it.

[identity profile] crickets.livejournal.com 2007-08-18 02:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh wow thanks so much for watching and commenting even though it is outside your fandom. Thank you so much! I'm a relatively new fan of Battlestar Galactica. Normally I don't go for science fiction at all. But I LOVE this show and I would definitely recommend it. Excellent, excellent. It's definitely shot up to to very top of my list!

[identity profile] daybreak777.livejournal.com 2007-08-19 03:37 am (UTC)(link)
I really liked this vid. Great images, great and unusual song. I even found the lyrics and they make the vid even more poignant. I can't even pick my favorite moments because it comes together so well as a whole. *Tries* I think I like the "Mmm what 'cha say" part at the end. Oh and and the line, "What did she say?" with D'Anna. And that look between Boomer and Cally when Cally is on the truck.

Thanks for sharing this, it really gave me a feeling of New Caprica. I'm not sure if this comment gets it across but the vid and song definitely strike an emotional chord.

[identity profile] crickets.livejournal.com 2007-08-19 06:27 am (UTC)(link)
Wow thank you so much for the lovely comment I'm so glad you felt it resonated with you. That was certainly its intent. This is definitely one of my favorite storyarchs we've seen on the show. It allowed us to see so many different sides of these wonderful characters that we were not used to seeing. So this is kind of my ode to that. Because it was so very fun (and hard) to watch. So I just had to make this.

Thanks again!
KC

[identity profile] shadowscast.livejournal.com 2007-08-19 06:59 am (UTC)(link)
I really, really liked that! The occupation is such an intense storyline, and in this vid you evoke it really wonderfully. The effect of watching through broken glass was very appropriate and creative, too.

[identity profile] crickets.livejournal.com 2007-08-20 03:30 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you so much. I totally agree about the occupation storyline. I'm flattered that you think I was able to capture the power of it. :D

[identity profile] abigailmarissa.livejournal.com 2007-08-19 05:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Absolutely brilliant, the song worked really well for the video and the way you used a texture/tint? over the entire video just gave it a reall professional feel. Wonderful job! =D

[identity profile] crickets.livejournal.com 2007-08-20 04:45 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks very much!

[identity profile] ex-snuddles368.livejournal.com 2007-08-19 08:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Great song choice for that arc and I really love it when vidders match the visuals to the lyrics. You pulled it off very well! :D

[identity profile] crickets.livejournal.com 2007-08-20 04:45 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, I'm glad you think so. Thanks for watching and commenting I definitely appreciate it!

[identity profile] projectcyborg.livejournal.com 2007-08-21 08:09 pm (UTC)(link)
this is a gorgeous, gorgeous vid. I love the effects, I love the quiet weirdness of the song, and the ending sequence with Hera just gutted me. bravo!

[identity profile] crickets.livejournal.com 2007-08-22 02:47 am (UTC)(link)
Oh thank you! You know I'm a relatively new fan of BSG and as such I just recently (as in days ago) just discovered Read Less, Watch More BSG. It's wonderful! Are you planning on doing them next season as well?

I have to say I'm extremely flattered that you found and enjoyed my vid. Extremely.

Also, if you don't mind I'm going to add you to my friend's list.

Thanks again! :D

[identity profile] projectcyborg.livejournal.com 2007-08-23 07:52 pm (UTC)(link)
oh wow! do you remember how you found my vlog? I really didn't think anybody but like two of my friends (and random people on youtube) was watching it. I'm sorry to report that I'm not planning on making any more, but it totals more than 7 hours of video and I think that should be enough for anyone! ;P

I friended you on imeem. I'm reposting the vlog there, in case you didn't know that already. thanks for this comment -- it made me really happy!welcome to BSG fandom!

[identity profile] crickets.livejournal.com 2007-08-28 01:39 pm (UTC)(link)
I honestly think I just found it randomly on youtube one day. It was in related vids or? Came up in a search? So yeah, I'm one of those random youtube people!

Aw, I can't say that I'm not disappointed. I've really enjoyed what I've seen so far. (But I haven't watched them all, I will definitely do that once I finish the season!) They were really cleverly done, I have to say. And often thought provoking.

Dayln and I ([livejournal.com profile] dayln03, you should check out her BSG vid, no greater power, it's gorgeous, and ensemble!) have been watching together these past weeks and the show has already surpassed all of our other fandoms. We were just talking last night about how when we're watchng BSG we hate every other show we've ever loved. Hahah.

I think she said, "My brain just shrinks down to: OMG! I love BSG!1!!!!!!1!!111"

Well said.

I'm so sorry it took me so long to finally watch.

[identity profile] projectcyborg.livejournal.com 2007-08-29 04:31 am (UTC)(link)
believe me, I understand! BSG has basically taken over my life. I'm glad my vlog is helping feed your addiction!

this is my own problem, but the implied pairings (mostly Adama/Roslin) are preventing me from enjoying No Greater Power. I do love the editing style, though!

[identity profile] crickets.livejournal.com 2007-08-29 04:45 am (UTC)(link)
It really is and thank you for doing it. It's just great.

Ah, I understand that. I guess I didn't realize all the ships that are represented there. Mainly cause there's so much going on in the vid. Hahahah. But now that you mention it, it really was chock full of it huh?

I just finished the last few eps, a little marathon session with a friend from school. I'm pretty speechless at the moment. I need some time to regroup, collect my thoughts haha, and then I'm definitely heading over to your vlogs to see what you and your fuzzy friends thought of it all as well.

[identity profile] smirks.livejournal.com 2007-08-30 03:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow! The coloring on this is truly beautiful. Just really gritty, but powerful and moving. I love the song choice.

[identity profile] crickets.livejournal.com 2007-08-30 04:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks very much! :D

[identity profile] pellamerethiel.livejournal.com 2007-09-04 09:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Squeeee, seriously, this music video was wonderful! Perfect colouring, great music and well chosen scenes! It was a real pleasure to watch this, thank you for sharing the link. :)

[identity profile] crickets.livejournal.com 2007-09-04 09:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Aw, well thanks for coming over to watch it! New Caprica was one of the better story archs I've ever seen on TV EVER. Loved it so much, for so many various reasons. This was my little homage to it.

[identity profile] hollywoodgrrl.livejournal.com 2007-12-14 06:23 pm (UTC)(link)
So I come with the promised proper feedback.

Ahem.

You know what I think is funny? How you sort of exploded on the BSG vidding scene out of nowhere. I just looked back in your vidding tag and yeah, I don't watch Lost so I wouldn't have known your work. But I do know that seeing this vid on the Bascon DVD made me go, yeah, this chick's got TALENT. And watching your work made me remember some vidding meme I saw on the vidding newsletter a month or two back. The meme asked what characteristic defines that particular vidder's style as their own. And when I watch your work I have to say it's the colors. They are distinctly yours. I haven't seen anyone use them as well as you. And here, with the TEXTURE! Well that's just brilliant. I am starting to get the desire to reach for other sources to put in my vids and be a little bit more experimental and know that you're definitely one of the inspirations on that front.

I applaud you. And bow to you. *bows*

[identity profile] crickets.livejournal.com 2007-12-18 12:12 am (UTC)(link)
I'll be honest. I have kind of sat on this comment for a few days because I just don't know how to respond to it. It really means so much to me. Everything you said above.

And actually, you kind of inspired me to go ahead with some coloring on my next vid. Which I've been avoiding because I kind of, I don't know, I was giving up on the coloring thing. Even though that has so been my trademark for so long.

I just wanted to go clean, or whatever you want to call it. I still might, but reading this was just. Well it made my week. And I wish I knew how to properly respond to it. But I don't. So this will have to do, haha.

[identity profile] hollywoodgrrl.livejournal.com 2007-12-18 10:54 pm (UTC)(link)
No ways! You going clean...:P I getcha. We're drawn to grow in our art. But still, this coloring effect will always be yours. Also...psyched for new KC vid!

Also, also...you totally rock the casbah for sending me that code. I fixed the thing. Hooray! *hugs*

[personal profile] luzula 2008-02-04 06:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Very cool vid, not like anything I've seen before. It took me a while to get into it, but I really like it now. It's like seeing the occupation from a distance, sort of dreamy and fragmented.

[identity profile] crickets.livejournal.com 2008-02-04 06:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Well I'm glad you got into it! Thank you so much for taking the time to watch and comment. It's kind of my love-song or commemoration of New Caprica. Which remains to this day one of my favorite storylines to date.

[identity profile] rambling-ink.livejournal.com 2008-03-18 09:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I’ll be honest. I didn’t like it at first. It was hard to swallow… Then around the third viewing (because I couldn’t not rewatch it) I realized the ‘dislike’ was a hauntingly emotional aftertaste in my mouth and a chilling side-effect of watching a condensed version of the occupation on New Caprica. It was as if you re-invoked every emotion I felt watching season three and The Resistance, the gut-churning, on the edge of my seat, disgusted fascination I experienced the first time around. It is for this reason I believe you vid is wonderfully successful, my favorite of all I’ve seen in recent months (jockeying for the number-one-favorite-of-all-time with a vid from another fandom I stumbled upon three years ago). Hauntingly beautiful.

[identity profile] crickets.livejournal.com 2011-09-15 01:44 am (UTC)(link)
This comment is literally years old. But I just want to say that I appreciate it so much!

ext_92381: (0a default)

[identity profile] zerabell.livejournal.com 2011-09-15 03:28 am (UTC)(link)
Years old indeed, but wouldn't you know it: every time I hear this song I automatically link it to sections of your vid and BSG's season 3. Yes, even after all this time. You're work is just that good (well yours, and those behind BSG).

Damn. I now have to put Battlestar on my Must-ReWatch Immediately List. ;p

[identity profile] crickets.livejournal.com 2011-09-15 03:30 am (UTC)(link)
Wow, I didn't expect a reply. Well thank you again!

And I 100% agree about needing to re-watch this show. So epic.

[identity profile] sionnain.livejournal.com 2008-10-09 07:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, that just made me cry.

You really brought out the hopelessness and the tragedy of the arc, which was so tragic because--exactly as the song says--they really did mean well.

oh, it hurts. OUCH. BUT SO GOOD. :)

[identity profile] crickets.livejournal.com 2011-09-15 01:44 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you so much. I am years late. But thank you!

(Anonymous) 2015-01-02 04:23 am (UTC)(link)
I don't suppose your music videos are available anywhere now, are they? I downloaded so many of your videos a long time ago, but my computer has died since then, and now I have nothing. I was rewatching BSG recently and remembered this one and Scratch, and came searching once I realized they didn't make the trip to the new computer. It's been ... what, seven years? since I saw the video, but I still remembered it. Please take that as the compliment that it is. I hope you have them all uploaded somewhere!
