Spooktober!
Oct. 1st, 2014 08:41 pmHappy October you guys! It's my favorite month of the year! (Or it would be if it hadn't been so humid today!)
So many things are happening!
A) It's October!
B) TV is back/is coming back and I am excited about that!
C) Dodger is still super adorable.
D) My parents are back from their lengthy Africa trip and so far are not showing any signs of Ebola! (Except my dad. Who, according to the CDC site, was displaying all but TWO symptoms last night. I was this-close to having to be quarantined. But it turns out it was just a kidney stone+infection. Go figure!)
E) I have finally gotten into a groove where I am consistently caught up with all my assignments so I have more time to kill on certain days at work.
F) OMGTVISBACK.
Some things I am kind of into/excited/thinking about at the moment. Possibly, but not necessarily related to the above:
1 part 1) The 100. You guys! I loved it so damn much!
1 part 2) I want to write fic for it but haven't written fic all year! The idea of jumping back in is so scary.
1 part 3) I feel like I should have a ficathon or something. Or just take comment fic promts. Do people still do that? I think I might do that.
1 part 4) Obviously making these up as I go along.
2) The Red Road. As far as Sundance shows go I didn't love it as much as Rectify (impossible!), but I did still love it. It's only 6 episodes and available on multiple platforms. Please try it! Jason Momoa gets to wear regular human-clothes. It's got Martin Henderson. (AKA cute guy from off the map, AKA cute boyfriend from The Ring). It sometimes offers a first-person perspective of schizophrenia. Which is just frightening. It was renewed for a second season!
3) I am not sure what to think about PLL right now. I feel like this show has waves where I am so into it that it's gross, and moments where I am like, "wait, what?"
4) The Gilmore Girls on Netflix. I have never watched this show all the way through. THE TIME IS NOW.
5) The Twilight Zone on Netflix.
6) Alfred Hitchcock Presents on Netflix.
7) Listening to The Twilight Zone radio dramas on my commute to and from work.
8) Listening to Lena Dunham's book and her weird voice on my commute to and from work. For the record I usually really like Lena, but this book is giving me mixed feelings about her. I am more convinced than ever that she is way more like Hannah Horvath than I ever could have imagined and certainly more than any real-not-fictional human being has any business being.
9 part 1) I glued pink and purple nail caps on my cat to keep him from scratching me. I realize cats aren't gendered the way we are, but do you think this will make him a drag queen? I certainly hope so. (I definitely should tweet this. I am doing that right now.)
9 part 2) I am spending way too much money on this cat. So broke right now.
10) I started a book club. Our first meeting is in 2 weeks. I have no idea how to run a book club. I am clearly in over my head.
11) I had my 1 year review at work. As suspected, everyone loves me.
12) I started a cookbook club at work. This is where everyone picks a recipe out of a certain cookbook to bring into work. This idea is genius if you love yummy food. Everyone should steal this idea.
13) Speaking of cookbooks, I got the Skinnytaste cookbook in the mail yesterday and was sad there weren't more step-by-step type illustrations. But I am still kind of excited about it. Only a few old favorites from her site, and most of them are new recipes. I think they're a smidge more fancy than her recipes on the site. Or at least the ones I usually make of hers. Hah. I think this will be next month's cookbook of choice. If BudgetBytes ever puts out a cookbook I will be the first in line. Whoever told me about that site is a genius and I owe you all my gratitude.
14) I am really sad because it's taken me way too long to write this post and now I have to go do "closing up things" in the library like a mature adult.
15)
ozmissage wanted some "spooky haunted house" book recs. I was of no use to her! Anyone got any recs?
16) Edited to add. LEVERAGE on Netflix! I only have one season to go and am procrastinating because I kind of don't want it to end.
17) Is The Blacklist as good as the pilot makes it seem?
18) So much for being a responsible adult.
