01. Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted?
I think I'm going to say less because I started the year with a bang and then ended with a whimper. I tried to count them but then I messed up and it's way too late (and Christmas! as of five minutes ago!), so I gave up. I feel like I do write a lot at times but I don't write particularly long things. I participate in a lot of drabble challenges/ficlet giftings and overall my fic is pretty short so in that way I feel far less prolific than other writers. Not that I'm comparing myself for any reason. Just saying. I really wanted to do more fic wise this year -- not necessarily write more.

02. What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January?
I wouldn't have predicted ever writing The Vampire Diaries seeing as it's a show that I didn't even watch in January. Writing random shit for the first five acts meme (like Paul/Topher of Dollhouse) was definitely unexpected and not something I'll probably ever re-visit, but yeah. Interesting anyway. Veronica Mars and The Pacific were both fun and so was my Josh/Sam West Wing drabble.

03. What's your own favorite story of the year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you happiest?
Okay the thing that makes me the happiest is The Shephards fanzine. But that's not one story and it's not just my work. It's a bunch of people. I think overall the story that made me that happiest to write was probably the darkest of marks; lost; claire/jack. The reason is because it exposed a side to that pairing that I think I'd really only touched on before. While I feel I could have done a lot more with it, I also am so incredibly happy about what I did with it. There are a couple of other jack/claire stories I could put here, like every road takes us farther from home which I think is technically the better of the two, but I think the darkest of marks is my personal favorite of the two.

04. Did you take any writing risks this year? What did you learn from them?
I don't know I feel like any time I write I am taking risks, haha. I think if anything I've regressed as a writer these past few months though so I'm not sure what, if anything, I've learned. I guess maybe I've learned that reading is key. Because when I do that I find myself more inspired and there's been a considerable lack of that this past ear. Both plain ole reading and fanfic-reading.

05. Do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the New Year?
Write more. Write a wider variety of things? Tell the stories I want to tell but are afraid to write because reality might not match what's in my brain. You know, simple stuff.

06. From my past year of writing, what was...
My Best Story: I feel a bit strange for putting this here because it is so damn short but I'm going to say to the other side which is a gen, y tu mamá también about Louisa.
Story Most Underappreciated By The Universe: Red Balloons; Dollhouse; Alpha/Echo. I guess? I don't know.
Most Fun: Probably my pacific fics, burned out bulbs on a ferris wheel [Chuckler/Leckie/Stella] and we can't afford this luxury (so let's steal it) [Chuckler/Leckie] or polish it 'til it shines [Veronica Mars, Veroncia/Leo, Keith]
Most Disappointing: Uh, one that hasn't yet been attributed to me because it was a gift for someone else, I'm afraid. :(
Most Sexy: Oh god I have no idea. Maybe my Mal/Simon ficlet? Or perhaps one of the Jack/Claire ones? I can't pick. You tell me, haha.
Hardest To Write: Definitely my Topher/Paul fic and nobody needs to read that so I'm not linking to it, lol. Also don't know where we're going [but we know where we're at] which is also claire/jack. I am still not sure how I feel about that one.
Most Unintentionally Telling: ??

Choice Lines:
Crew ain't stupid, that's for sure. There's things they know, and things they know but know better'n to say out loud. - [HERE]

They say that you can never go home again. And Veronica supposes that in a strictly metaphorical sense, that's all too true. But in other ways? In other ways, that notion couldn't be more than false. Sure, nothing really stays quite the same.
But some things?
Well, some things never change.

-[polish it 'til it shines, veronica mars, HERE]

"Alcatraz, the Bay, would you swim for it?" she clarifies. "I mean, even if you knew you'd probably drown or freeze to death or get shot, even if you had to leave people behind. If it meant getting out of there, would you swim for it?"
...omitted...
"I think," he takes a few moments before he answers, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. "I'd swim for it. Every time."

When he wakes up, he's lying in soft green grass. He can smell something cooking on the air and he lifts his nose to get a good sniff. Barbecue.
He can hear music.
"Come on, boy!" Walt stands before him, ten years old again. He holds a tennis ball in his hand and he tosses it across the yard. "Fetch, Vincent! Fetch!"
Vincent does.

Ten years old. No -- younger. Swing sets and mary janes, bluest of blue skies. Even in those days she used to think about the end of the world, as children often do. There are always stories and warnings and whispers. You grow up knowing that somehow, it all ends.
- [to the other side, HERE]

They're driving through a mountain pass one night after a full day of sleeping and fucking, and Claire reaches across, her fingers resting at the back of Jack's neck, twisting in his short hair.
"What are your dreams of?" he asks her, after a beat.
It is Claire's turn to laugh this time.
"You," she says simply. "Only you."
