Just kidding. But it looks like if you want to not feel like shooting yourself in the head you should ship Jack and Juliet from this moment on. I enjoy the Jack/Juliet dynamic but I don't really ship them. I don't mean to say I never will or that I'm closed off to the idea. But I'm still stuck on Jack and Kate - those island-crossed, whatever-amabobs. I don't mind the Jack/Juliet dynamic. I even like it. I just... don't ship them. Sadly. I feel like I need to.
This was just a full-on ship episode. Nothing really happened.
Sawyer punches crying teen-aged boys and then offers really good advice? This is a side of Sawyer that we haven't ever seen. Not the punching, cause he's definitely skilled in that area. But the full of good advice, caring, dude. Cause that? Is new. He's had a couple moments, mostly with Jack actually, where he displayed this kind of humanness. The thing that always bugged me about Sawyer's character was not that he did bad things and hurt people without purpose. But that he didn't seem to care about redemption. He would have a breakthrough and then go back to being Captain A-Hole the next minute. It was disjointed. Is it bad storytelling? Or is the character supposed to be like that? Like in this episode. He's a total fucktard to Kate in the boat and then he's all Dr. Phil with Carl? Oookay. That's not confusing. Thanks, writers.
So Sawyer thinks that Kate's still got it bad of the doctor (which, clearly, she does) and only "did
But! We do find out that Ethan was the island surgeon. So we knew he was some kind of doctor from Claire's season 2 flashback, but that just takes the cake. Charlie is gonna die. Ethan was BADASS and a surgeon? I miss Ethan. Especially with his scratched up face and perpectually wet skintight t-shirt. What? It was hot, okay? Friggin' Charlie!
Also, Karl and Alex are awesome. I love them.
