first →. Apologies. I've been out of it lately. I mean I've been here but I've been so bad about keeping up with my flist and everything. I think the countdown is zapping all of my fandom energy and I really do apologize for that. It'll be over soon though! I apologize to everyone on my flist. *tacklehugs everyone*

second → A vidding meme, nabbed from [livejournal.com profile] millylicious & [livejournal.com profile] charmax. Tagging all vidders who have yet to do it. (Which may be no one, it seems like it's been making the rounds.)

1.)When did you first start vidding? I think it was about three years ago exactly. March 2005.

2) What would you say was your inspiration or motivation to start doing it? Boredom. Boredom is a major inspiration in most of my endeavors. I almost typed cadavers but... that's so not the same thing. (*wonders about her own sanity*) There's no one vid or anything. The folks over at LVI were a huge influence. I watched a lot before I started. The first fanvid I ever saw was Pacey/Joey from Dawson's Creek. Probably during the time when season 4 was still airing. It is beautiful in my memory, but it was probably about 15x15 pixels and choppy and talky. It was to a Dave Matthews Band song which I later vidded to myself in another fandom. So I guess that's the closest thing.

3) What do you or have you vidded? Lost, Supernatural, Battlestar Galactica, Hard Core Logo, Firefly, Jericho (mini vid that no one will ever see)... and.. I'll put these in parenthesis because I've only used them in a multi-fandom vid so far. (Buffy, Angel, Death Proof, V for Vendetta)

4) Where do you draw your inspiration from for vids? Is it the song? An idea? Someone else? All of those things? I draw my inspiration from everywhere. Sometimes fics or general ideas about the human condition. (How can I exhibit that in a vid?) Sometimes a trailer or a commercial will give me an idea. Songs of course. Other vidders inspire me. They inspire me all the time. It's very much a amalgam of things.

5) What was your favorite video to make or do? Gosh I dunno. I really liked working on Battlestar Inferno just because it really was such a challenge to myself. Going into it, I honestly did not believe that it could be done. I thought for sure I would fail. I expected it. But I kept finding these moments and motions that just fit and it all came together. Finding all the right clips was very much a fun (though at times arduous) process.

Second to that I'd have to say Swallowed, my Jack/Sawyer Lost video. I could not stop the squee. When making that vid. I tried to use a lot of canon moments with a few manips mixed in, so it was just entirely too fun working with the clips of those two. The chemistry just... pops off the screen. My jaw hurt from smiling too much while making that sucker.

Passive Manipulation was also really fun, though hard to source.

6) What was your least favorite video to make or do? Man, I don't know that's a hard one. There are probably moments during each vid when I want to tear my hair out and just throw in the towel. The Kill, my Hard Core Logo vid was so much more difficult than I thought it would be. And the fact that Dayln and I were making vids for that movie at the same time kind of compounded things in a way I didn't expect since we beta for each other. So maybe that one.

I also worked so long and hard on that title sequence. But it turned out really well so I'm happy I took the time to do that.

7) Which video are you most proud of? I want to say You Passed By, my latest Starbuck vid. But there are a lot I'm very proud of, which is kind of nice. To not look back at something and cringe. I think I'm most proud of You Passed By because I didn't think I'd ever finish it. I literally stopped working on it for months and didn't even have the programming on my computer to continue. So now that it's finished, I'm extremely proud of it. It also just won Best Vid over at Driver Picks the Music, which was so unexpected and so flattering.

Beyond that I'd probably say Battlestar Inferno, again, and maybe Scratch, another Starbuck vid, and Taking Control, a chosen children Supernatural vid that I did.

8) What's the best feedback or comment you've ever gotten? Ah, you know, this is so hard. I appreciate all of my feedback but it really does mean a lot to me when a fellow vidder gives me a nice review. So any of those. And the reviews I've gotten over at Driver Picks the Music are always great. Actually, [livejournal.com profile] counteragent's review of Meant Well: The Occupation over at [livejournal.com profile] the_reel was really helpful to me. There weren't many suggestions, but the ones about using motion are really something I took to heart and have since incorporated into my vidding. It also made me think twice about overuse of textures.

9.)What is your opinion on clip theft? Clip theft is great. I do it all the time. It's a really cool way to save some time when you're just too lazy to vid for yourself. O_o /sarcasm. Hahaha. I think clip theft has always been a non-issue for me. I was ripped off bigtime by a vidder on YouTube once, but I don't think it's been a major issue for me. The people who do it A) Don't know better. or B) Don't care. The only way to stop it is through education. And when you find someone who's taken something of yours, make sure they're not just a kid who doesn't know better before you attack them and sick the hounds of LJ after them.

10) Favorite genre to vid to (comedy, angst, romance, drama, AU)? A bit of everything, I guess. I'm pretty much a newb when it comes to AU, but I've tried a few times. Maybe I'll do more of that later.

11) Favorite pairing(s)? Hah. That's a better question for another day.

12) What just drives you up the wall when it comes to vidding? Rendering, encoding, uploading, and all other elements of the waiting game.

13) Is vidding a pastime, hobby or something to help gain experience to do more later in life? What's the difference between a past time and a hobby? I'd like to think it's a little of everything, actually.

14) What is your latest project or idea for your next vid if your muse isn't dead? I'm working on something for CVV and by "working on" I mean "putting off." I also really want to do that Local God vid. I have so many ideas, the problem is just making the time to do them. Hopefully when the semester ends I'll be able to spend more time on them.

15) Finally, what kind of words of wisdom would you offer someone who wants to vid or is a newbie? If you want to vid, you've got to just do it. Don't expect to be the best right out of the box. This is a learning process and it's better if you remember that. Watch a lot of videos. Pay attention to them. They will help you become a better vidder. Be prepared to run into a multitude of technical snags and to work through them. Don't expect anybody do to anything for you, but do reach out to fellow vidders for help. And vid for yourself. Don't try to fit into some mold. You've got to try, really really try, not to compare yourself to others. It's a sure fire way to make this very un-fun.

third → This meme took so long to do that I forgot what the third thing I was gonna say is. Um... can I blame Dayln?
