Supernatural 3x04 - Sin City

So here's a theory...

Ruby is Lucifer.

Why bring up the mythology if it wasn't important to the storyline? She called herself a fallen angel, which is exactly what Lucifer is. And that fact, I believe was also stated in the episode tonight.

And what better way to get Sam to embrace his dark side and take his place as leader of the demon army than to get him to do a bunch of evil deeds in the name of saving his brother?

(ETA) And if she is the fallen angel in question, she'd totally be able to get Dean out of his deal.

I have some more, less coherent thoughts on this that I might try to pull together for an ETA at a later time.

Just food for thought!

And also! No BSG until April? What the frak? Summer!?!?!

Ruby is Lucifer.

Ooh ... interesting possibility. And yes, she's busy handing those Good Intentions pavingstones to Sam.

[identity profile] crickets.livejournal.com 2007-10-26 02:19 am (UTC)(link)
She really is!

[identity profile] cynthia-arrow.livejournal.com 2007-10-26 02:18 am (UTC)(link)
Very, very interesting. I'd totally buy it.

And somehow, despite being an irrational Sam girl, I'd still like to see her fuck him push him into doing crazy, crazy things. I don't know why the idea appeals to me so much.

Maybe because it would be awfully cool to think of Sam being so important and so potentially powerful. *ponders* :)

[identity profile] crickets.livejournal.com 2007-10-26 02:19 am (UTC)(link)
Yes yes! Talk about being in bed with the devil!

[identity profile] bridget-x-alena.livejournal.com 2007-10-26 02:27 am (UTC)(link)
Ruby is Lucifer.
I hadn't thought about that, but you bring up a good point!!

[identity profile] crickets.livejournal.com 2007-10-26 02:29 am (UTC)(link)
I am so rarely right about these things. But if it turns out to be true I'll definitely not be disappointed! It certainly is an interesting angle and one hell of an adversary!

[identity profile] bridget-x-alena.livejournal.com 2007-10-26 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
But if it turns out to be true I'll definitely not be disappointed! It certainly is an interesting angle and one hell of an adversary!
Yeah, I absolutely agree.

It would definitely be interesting if it's true and the boys figure it out.

Also, in addition to your theory, if she is Lucifer, she'd have no trouble breaking Dean's deal...but at what cost to Sam??

[identity profile] crickets.livejournal.com 2007-10-26 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
Well he'd be evil, of course. But he'll still be hot, so it's okay. LOL.

[identity profile] rillaotvalley.livejournal.com 2007-10-26 02:29 am (UTC)(link)
Damn straight. I just posted the same conclusion on my meta. Not only was the "fallen angel" bit the tag, but the fact that YED was Azazel (in some myth, a right-hand devil to the devil and another fallen angel) AND the fact that Casey said no one has seen Lucifer, but they believe in his return. It's all so heavy-handed that I almost worry that if it's true, they've given too much up too early. Unless things are gonna get horrifically bad much earlier than usual this season.

[identity profile] crickets.livejournal.com 2007-10-26 02:30 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe the story will just follow a different type of arc than it has for the past two seasons. I was really skeptical with those first three episodes, but this one was light-years better, IMO.

And YAY for twin theories. I'm so glad I'm not the only one who thought that.

[identity profile] rillaotvalley.livejournal.com 2007-10-26 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
You and I = same page. And as for the eps, I loved the last one just because they seemed back in a rhythm, opposed to the first two which were just...off.

OOOOOOOOOOOOO.

This is a theory I much like!

[identity profile] crickets.livejournal.com 2007-10-26 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
*nods emphatically*

[identity profile] winterevanesce.livejournal.com 2007-10-26 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
Ruby is lucifer! I didn't even think of it until you said it, but damn I think you might be right about this one.. BUT, remember back in the first episode. When those demons saw Ruby (I mean if she is Lucifer) how come that one demon girl said, "NO!!" like she knew her?? When it's brought up in this episode, that no one has seen lucifer..

[identity profile] crickets.livejournal.com 2007-10-26 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
Just because no one's ever seen Lucifer, does that mean they wouldn't recognize him/her when they saw him?

*ponders*

[identity profile] winterevanesce.livejournal.com 2007-10-26 03:23 am (UTC)(link)
Very true. Damn, the more I think about it - the more I feel like it's sooo true.

[identity profile] crickets.livejournal.com 2007-10-26 03:25 am (UTC)(link)
Eeee! Yay! I'm so glad this feels like my show again! I was a little less than thrilled with the first three, so yeah. I feel like this one made up for it. Haha.

[identity profile] fated-addiction.livejournal.com 2007-10-26 03:30 am (UTC)(link)
Ruby's much cooler than the other chick, Bella? Oui. Much cooler.

But I like this theory. It's pretty sensible.

[identity profile] crickets.livejournal.com 2007-10-26 03:34 am (UTC)(link)
Bela made my head hurt. And not in the good way. In the very very bad way. So yes. Ruby > Bela. A lot.

[identity profile] isis2015.livejournal.com 2007-10-26 04:31 am (UTC)(link)
Hmmm. Interesting theory. I had the same thought when she said "fallen angel". And you certainly bring up a good point in that they wouldn't bring up mythology like what Casey got into in the same episode if there wasn't some kind of connection.

I have to wonder exactly what she's going to have Sam to do. When Sam said he didn't have to like it, she said he wouldn't be Sam if he didn't. I think maybe there's something to that. Because Dean said Sam was "cold" when he shot the two demons. Maybe that's the point. What would he do to save Dean? Given what Ruby said tonight, I'm kinda afraid of the answer to that question.

And I just babbled for a paragraph. Nevermind me. I'm just thinking outloud.

[identity profile] crickets.livejournal.com 2007-10-26 05:59 am (UTC)(link)
No, please! Babble away! I'm just as curious to find out the answer to that question as you are!

[identity profile] resounding-echo.livejournal.com 2007-10-26 05:38 am (UTC)(link)
If canon doesn't go this route (and you've convinced me that it could), you should totally write this fic. I would cheerlead and read it and comment and rec it. :D

[identity profile] crickets.livejournal.com 2007-10-26 06:00 am (UTC)(link)
Haha, Maybe I will!

[identity profile] allie_quixotic.livejournal.com 2007-10-26 05:47 am (UTC)(link)
And what better way to get Sam to embrace his dark side and take his place as leader of the demon army than to get him to do a bunch of evil deeds in the name of saving his brother?

But if she is Lucifer, why would she/he(?) need to take Sam's place. Wouldn't she already be the leader? *thinks* It's an interesting theory, I went a different way in my review, but either way Ruby rox. ;)

[identity profile] crickets.livejournal.com 2007-10-26 05:58 am (UTC)(link)
That's a good point, but then why would Azazel, a "lesser" demon, have been the leader in the first place if Lucifer could lead himself?

[identity profile] allie_quixotic.livejournal.com 2007-10-26 06:12 am (UTC)(link)
That, in turn, is a good point as well. What a thinky episode this was!

[identity profile] crickets.livejournal.com 2007-10-26 06:16 am (UTC)(link)
Very thinky!

Oops! Sorry. I didn't realized that was going to happen.

I just wanted you guys to read each other's posts because they were both about OMG!SUPERNATURAL!SOMEONE'SADEMON(?)!

LOL

Both entries showed up on my flist yesterday.

[identity profile] crickets.livejournal.com 2007-10-26 02:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Hahah, well she's definitely a Demon. But I happen to think she's also the devil herhim?self.

Hey aren't you at Ferrum today?

[identity profile] savepureness.livejournal.com 2007-10-26 10:56 am (UTC)(link)
What do you mean about BSG? Wasn't Razor supposed to be aired on November 24th?

[identity profile] crickets.livejournal.com 2007-10-26 12:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, but the new season was supposed to have started in January/February and it's been reported (LA Times, I think) that season four will not return to sci fi until April of next year.

[identity profile] savepureness.livejournal.com 2007-10-26 05:29 pm (UTC)(link)
That sucks. The same happens with Prison Break, so this is how I'm deprived of the pleasure of watching two of my favourite shows before next spring. Guh.

[identity profile] ultraviolet9a.livejournal.com 2007-10-28 02:09 pm (UTC)(link)
I love this theory. It would explain why she knows so much. How she knows how to even fix the Colt. And think about it...Ruby. Etymologically speaking it derives from Red and red has always been associated with Lucifer. As a gem, some references say it symbolizes Light, and lucifer is the Light-bringer.

I would absolutely adore it if your theory came true. Like whoa adore it.

[identity profile] crickets.livejournal.com 2007-10-28 02:16 pm (UTC)(link)
I SO love you for making the connection with the names. Now, I'm even more convinced!

[identity profile] ultraviolet9a.livejournal.com 2007-10-28 02:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Heeeh! Mutual loving here!!!

Also? Can I just add that the gem ruby also symbolizes divine power and royalty? And that other names for it are pigeon's blood and lamp-stone. LAMPSTONE. LAMP. LIGHT. I MEAN.

[identity profile] crickets.livejournal.com 2007-10-28 02:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Right? So. Convinced!

[identity profile] ultraviolet9a.livejournal.com 2007-10-28 02:35 pm (UTC)(link)
AHAHAHAHAHA! *evil laugh* WE KNOW YOUR SECRET, RUBY!!!! (you too, Kripke. *buffs nails*)
