So I started watching this show a really long time ago and got up to like ep 4 and meant to continue but I just never got around to it. It was a bit shallow, but there wasn't anything in particular that I disliked about it, I just kept putting it off until I kind of forgot about it. Anyway, I'm caught up to 2.03 and I have some thoughts now:
1) Lydia = Love.
2) Jackson. I was pretty smitten with his character until like two-thirds through the first season. He had his jock moments, but there was also the sense that he had something else going on. Now in 2.03 it's the first indication in a long time that the dude's got a beating heart. I still ship him and Allison (because I'm crazy) but I am SUPER disappointed that they pretty much reduced him to 1-dimensional-entitled-jock for a huge chunk of s1 and the first couple eps of s2. I am hoping that the brief indication that he felt bad about his treatment of Lydia and the clues that all of this was actually getting to him on an emotional level (apart from whining about not getting what he wants) are not something that disappear in the next ep. I don't understand why they decided to go the way they did with his character, but it's completely thrown me for a loop. It just doesn't seem that's how they started him off. It's like bait and switch and I want to write a strongly worded letter. My expectations of his character have dropped so low that as long as he doesn't whine like a little baby in an episode, I am happy. (Don't worry, I plan to write fic to remedy some of this.)
ETA: I think the thing that gets me the most, is that in order to bring him down to this level, even when he's interacting with the key players, it's almost like he's in his own little, far less interesting, show. I'm just like nobody cares about your man-pain, Jackson. I want to love him, but geez. GET A GRIP.
3) Stiles. Be more adorable. I dare you. Love him so much. (And they've given him just the right amount of depth so he's become so much more than sidekick fodder.)
4) Derek. Meh. (Though I don't understand Scott's hesitation about joining up with him. It's not like he's killing people like Alpha from last season.)
5) Scott. Sometimes I like him and sometimes he's meh. He's way too focused on Allison. It's annoying.
6) Allison. She is awesome. I mean, at times I just want to roll my eyes at her and Scott but I also kind of want her to embrace her more bad-ass dark side. (YES.)
7) Mr. Argent. I'm sorry I don't remember your first name Mr. Hottie-McHott. All joking aside about his older guy yumminess, I actually really enjoy his character. (I also feel like if that's an unpopular opinion, ya'll are doing it wrong.) Especially because I feel like he's going to end up on "team Teen Wolf" (is that a thing?) In terms of... thwarting Colonel Tigh and "doing the right thing" etc. Like, him and Dr. Deaton should team up for the forces of good and stuff.
8) Dr. Deaton. Unexpectedly cool key player. (He better not die!)
9) Coach Finstock: "McCall! You come out of that goal one more time, and you'll be doing suicide runs until you die. It'll be the first ever suicide run that actually end in a suicide." (Basically what I am trying to say is: He rocks.)
10) Mrs. Argent. SHE IS SO CREEPY. SHE MIGHT ACTUALLY BE THE DEVIL.
