I just saw some Lee/Kara stuff over on ship_manifesto, but didn't actually read it. That that comm tends to have lots and lots of 'shipper essays that eventually turn up some good meta commentary now and then, though only in the context of pairings. I swear there was a community solely for essays on singular characters, but I forget what it is.

And yeah I'm really not interested in the ship manifesto aspect of it. I've read one (which is probably in my mems) about Kara and all her men which I kind of like because I'm not an OTP shipper and I like each of her relationships.
It's sort of for a friend. So often, others have the ability to say what I can't about a character. And I'm trying to explain to him, why I like Starbuck so much. He's about 4 or 5 eps into season 2 and he still doesn't really like her. Wait wait, he says he respects her, but he doesn't like her. LOL.
Well, give him time! I didn't love Starbuck til about a month after I finished watching Season 3, honestly, and I didn't much care for her at all in the miniseries, but now she's probably in my top three favorite characters of all time. Sometimes these things just have to hit you like lightning.
Holy crap, really? Wow. That's a giant leap there. From not liking her to the top 3. I think she started as a character I loved, and grew into what is probably my favorite fictional character of all time.
But... I dunno. He did say he hates it whenever she talks, lmao. So that can't be good.
I'll still look around, see what I can see, give him the condensed version so as not to spoil him, haha.
I never hated her, though yeah, I was largely indifferent. She had moments that I loved but she wasn't a favorite til after Season 3 ended and I realized it was her story I desperately wanted to see finished, more than any of the others.
Maybe today's countdown will be me asking everyone what they think of Starbuck... I can prepare a mini-meta of my own to go along with it. (And hopefully it doesn't come out as mental vomit.) And maybe ask for other opinions? Oh gosh, I'm so self-serving. Hahaha.
