Title: like some junkyard dog
Fandom: LOST
Characters: Alex/Richard, Ben
Prompt: Fanatic
Word Count: 138-ish
Rating: PG-13
Summary: Future fic. Alex wants her revenge, and Richard can give it to her.
Author's Notes: No beta. Prequel to The Dry Taste of Death.

She is her mother. Ben could never see that. And the walls were never thick enough to muffle out his secrets.

No longer daddy’s little girl, that adoring, petulant fan, she dangles temptation in front of Richard like some neutered junkyard dog.

She knows what he is, what he wants, what it takes to make him scream her name. But mostly, she knows what he needs. And for that end, Ben’s purpose has been served. Only she can give it to him now, and what he can give her is vengeance.

Daddy’s been a bad, bad man.

"It’s time," Alex whispers one night, naked at his side.

"Why not you?" he asks, tracing one finger along her spine.

"I still have my soul," she answers.

"What makes you think I don’t?"

"What makes you think you do?"

Wow. I really, really love it. I love the idea of Alex/Richard the most. And I don't mind to read another one).

Though the other one's pretty cool too...

OMG SQUEE!!! Alex/Richard! I'm starting to absolutely love that pairing and you wrote it, and so yay!

Those last lines were perfect, I can actually hear the characters say them. Wonderful job with this!

(And I still don't have an Alex icon *slaps self*)

Haha! Don't slap yourself! I have a few here (http://super-kc.livejournal.com/32801.html#cutid1). I actually had to go back to that post to find some. I made them but I didn't have one as a userpic. WHOOPS. All remedied now.

I'm glad you like it! I think I may have read ONE other fic with Alex/Richard. Have you read any others? I'd be interested to see them if you know where to find any.

*edited: I can spell!

I hadn't even noticed the spelling.

You know I'm snagging those pretty, pretty icons.

I haven't actually read fics for the pairing (I see them around but I rarely have time to read them which sucks). There isn't any ('cept yours) on [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] that I know of and that's like my main fic comm that I use. If I find them I'll let you know. *goes to look*

Did you read Halfway Between The Start And The End by [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com]? She's got a pretty interesting writing style actually, it's not half bad at all, IMO.

Ohhhh! No I haven't. I'm definitely reading it. But right now I have to go to dinner! Thanks for that! I sent you on a scavenger hunt and you brought me goodies! ILY!

Have fun at dinner.

Also, there's Nocturne by [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com]. It's less wow, IMO, but it's still Alex/Richard and there just isn't a lot of it at the moment. Must remedy that situation.

*goes off to finish searching*

Halfway Between the Start and the End was stinkin' awesome! Oh my! Loved that so much! I'm so glad you found that! Nocturne, like you said wasn't as "wow" but it was still nice. A different kind of relationship. Gonna go comment on that.

I know, HBTSATE is wonderful. I totally fell in love with it. Just found Nocturne when I was searching and I figured I might as well link to it because you know people have different tastes in fics in stuff and it is Alex/Richard.

I looked for more, and I couldn't find any.

I swear I thought I read an alex/richard fic before. But when I think about it, I have no MEMORY of it. So maybe I just THOUGHT I thought I read an alex/richard fic. LOL.

Maybe you dreamt it. I was sure I had seen the Lost Season 3 premiere and it turned out I hadn't, which was seriously news to me. I have interesting dreams.

Ohhhhhhhhh I love it!
I absolutely love Alex, and Richard, so DUH Alex/Richard! :D
This was a perfect prequel to the other one!
And I agree, those last two lines are awesome!

Wellllllllllllllllllllllllll I love you!

I think I may continue to write some in this verse but who knows. I love Alex and Richard as well and so when I was attempting to write more Richard, I naturally had to use Alex as well. This is honestly more about her than it is about him though.

They ain't no Jawyercita, but they're interesting!

Thank god someone has finally written Richard/Alex, I was beginning to think I would have to! :P So you won me over right there.

However, this fic is one of the best I have read in a while, its conciseness makes it all the more potent. I can not even begin to articulate the chills the last line gave me, such a strong, wonderful finish to a powerful fic.

I am now off to read the fic this is a prequel to!

Seriously wonderful job! I really enjoyed it.

Well, slybrunette, that sluethe, uncovered a gem of a Richard/Alex fic right here (http://community.livejournal.com/ascotgavotte/3613.html). You may enjoy that!

And you still should write it!

And thank you so much for the lovely compliments! :D

Thanks a lot for the rec! I really enjoyed it and it was wonderfully written. :D

I've been planning on writing some Alex/Richard from about halfway through this season but my muse seriously sucks right now. It needs help! lol. I will probably most likely write it for [livejournal.com profile] cult_ships seeing as I only ever seem to write for those challenges.

You are welcome, you have totally deserved all the compliments you have recieved about this fic. It was wonderful :D

I love the last two lines. Perfect. I'm kinda amazed at how much I like this. I would have never considered the pairing. Great job doll.

Thanks so much! I'm calling this experiment a pass. I may write more of them.

On a totally unrelated topic, I'm super glad you commented over here because I have a crapload of your fic bookmarked to finish reading (the amazing zombie!verse for one) and I keep forgetting! *tears out hair* I am such a bad person! haha.

:D Your comments make me happy. Hehe. You seem to be game for anything and that's awesome in my book!

Strangely enough, my husband said that to me too...

I'm game for anything that's well written. I like being convinced of different pairings/ideas too. I'd not seen this grouping before.

And you're the first person who convinced me about Jack/Claire. Hey - if I make you want to write more Jawyercita, then I'll commentspam you til I'm blue in the face!

(Even if [livejournal.com profile] logophilos thinks my being cheery to other LJers is a misguided attempt at being 'kind'!! Hold a grudge, moi?)

*ginormous hugs for making me happy in return*

Bahahah, clearly, you're just a nice person and have lost the ability to comment on creative works honestly.

Mmm, Jawyercita. You know every day I check my flist in the hope that someone else (or ten someone else's) have decided to write it. LMAO.

I've been informed by Dayln that that is never going to happen. Haha. She's such a realist!

Thanks so much! This might turn into a series of some kind. Even though I think taking on the mythology of Richard is a daunting idea, I'm sure I could fake it, or skip past it haha. I have my own ideas, about his origins - not necessarily theories as to the shows version of him, just my own fanon mind-creation. Haha. Anyway, I'm totally fascinated by him. I'm glad you liked this! :D

Even though I don't ship Alex/Richard at all, I loved the last two lines of the fic.

"What makes you think I don’t?"

"What makes you think you do?"

Spectacular.

I love this! It's so short, but very powerful! It's dark and not what I usually read, but it works very well!

Man it feels like I wrote this forever ago. Thank you for commenting! It reminds me why I love these two so much.
