where the *hell* is JOE?
May. 5th, 2008 03:14 pmI'm listening to What I Learned From Television on This American Life and Dan Savage talks about how gay people are/were portrayed on television and how the portrayals are mostly stereotypical. But then he goes on to say: "But was the portrayal of heterosexuals any better? Do real straight people act anything like those crazy-ass breeders on Desperate Housewives? Do real straight people act like the fake straight people on LOST? Does anyone act like the people on LOST?"
It made me giggle. Oh, Lost.
Also, on last week's show, With Great Power... there was a story read by author Shalom Auslander called Waiting for Joe from his book, Beware of God. It was this adorable, sort of theological/philosophical tale about two hamsters, one named Donut and one named Danish, waiting for their human/diety Joe to return and feed them. They totally reminded me of Tough and Cuddles. Liek woah. Maybe when I get home I'll type a short excerpt from it. I'm totally buying the book.
