Wow! This is the most insulting thing I've read in a long time.

For educational purposes, I present this, courtesy [livejournal.com profile] trollprincess - which clearly shows a change in Dean's/the show's behavior/language since the first two seasons.

I'm not arguing a point. I honestly don't care - but just because I can't be assed to care about a show that has let me down all season, doesn't mean a thing doesn't exist, and it doesn't mean it's okay.

And just... the OP calling all those who care about the issue whiny, self important females, shows that they truly, honestly, don't get it. Whatever. Worship on, hero worshippers. (Not that you couldn't do that without insulting those of us who choose not to... that is.)

I've been planning on writing a "why I may or may not watch season 4" post for a few days. But I'll let it wait until this latest wankery has died down.

God yes. The post was horrifying but even scarier were the comments.

Yeah I'm just in total utter shock. The argument itself isn't a new one for season three. Now that it's over we can quantify things and discuss the season as a whole. But I don't understand people's need to try and tell other people how to think/act.

I mean it's one thing to make a post saying "this is how I feel about what I've seen on the show. observations. opinions. fin."

But it is quite another to say: "hi. if you don't like it? shut it! bitches!"

There is a distinction. Both are having an opinion, one is going about it the wrong way. Hard core.

I can understand with being frustrated with overwhelming amounts of criticism of the show. But that happens all the time with every fandom. You have to turn a blind eye if you don't like it. Or if you're comfortable with being confronted with the fact that your show is "less than perfect" read it with a grain of salt. But what that OP was doing was a little different than that. Not constructive at all. You don't tear other people down. It's just not cool and it's not helpful in the least.

(And actually I'm pretty over this show, with or without fandom wank.)

Oy vey. Is it that time already for the SPN fandom to wank about something? I'm not going to throw my two cents in on this, but being condescending and insulting is how shit like this gets started. It undermines the validity of the point trying to be made and turns it to wank. So the point gets lost in the wank because nobody wants to read the fucking wank.

Oh, SPN fandom, how you fail sometimes.

I totally agree with you. There's a way to go about it and there's... a way not to go about it. That post would be an example of the latter.

*shakes head*

Oh, fandom.

That's an interesting series comparison, for sure.

(And quite a depth of fanlevel to go through and count each one!! Kudos.)

I've had both sides of the argument on my flist now, and both are argued so well and eruditely, that's it's hard to choose between them.

I love my flist so much. They make me think.

I'm cool with people having differing opinions. But not telling everyone who points out flaws in the show to STFU you whiney female types and get out of my fandom and *whine* stop harshing my squee.

That? Is so not okay.

Now THAT I can agree wholeheartedly with!

What's the point in having opinions if they can't be discussed fairly and appropriately?

To my mind, it's these differences that make any fandom worth getting involved in.

People who abuse that are not only annoying others, they're also missing out on better things.

*hugs you*

I tend to agree. I often find a lot of fandom discussion and meta fun to read about and take part in. But not when it gets ugly like this.
