Personal WTF-ery aside, several days ago I put in my vote for [livejournal.com profile] legomymalfoy in the LiveJournal Advisory Board Elections.

I knew at that point there was some... jokester named jameth running, who seemed to be making a mockery of the whole thing, and doing pretty well in the polls despite that attitude. However, at the time it didn't seem to be that big of a deal. Today, I saw a post at the [livejournal.com profile] sga_newsletter and found out that this super nice fella had somehow gotten a mod at ONTD, one of livejournal's biggest communities, to endorse him, which spiked his votes significantly.

[livejournal.com profile] bookshop posted something about that in more detail here. And here is an interesting post by [livejournal.com profile] icarusancalion.

Now, I'm as skeptical as the next person when it comes to whether or not I think this is going to be taken seriously by livejournal in the first place. But if it is? I do not want somebody like that representing me, and you, and everybody else in fandom. That is for damn sure. So this is partially me tossing in my endorsement for [livejournal.com profile] legomymalfoy, who at this point seems the best shot at beating that guy, and very fandom-friendly. And part of this is my joining in (what I'm sure will be) the chorus in saying that we cannot let someone like that represent us. I urge everybody out there to go vote, and to tell your flists to vote, etc. etc. So, chop, chop. I know there's a ton of you guys out there.

I voted for [livejournal.com profile] legomymalfoy (1), [livejournal.com profile] rm (2), & [livejournal.com profile] vichan (3).

Get out the vote ← info on the fandom candidates, etc.

By all appearances [livejournal.com profile] jameth is a douchenozzle. I realize there's often not a lot of value in the verdict of the court of fandom opinion (since we're such a monolith, right?), but he's not presenting a lot of evidence to refute this assumption. And his active supporters seem to be straight-up asshats.

I voted the fandom ticket. I don't expect it will matter, and I do expect massive wank upon any outcome, but we tried.

It's kind of heartening to see 'fandom' as an entity smack someone down. I don't know what that says about me. *g*

Hah, douchenozzle. I couldn't agree more.
