Name one ormany two characters from one of my fandoms and I'll give you either (a) three facts about them from my personal canon/fanon, (b) a reason he/she sucks, (c) a reason she/he rocks my socks, (d) five things that never happened to that character or (e) five people that character never fell in love with and why. You pick the character. I pick the letter.
FYI These aren't easy.

Date: 2008-06-21 12:47 am (UTC)- He would do anything for Starbuck. Anything. He would kill for her, die for her. (Over and over.) Even if he knows she wouldn't do the same for him. (But she would.) Some think this makes him sad and pathetic, but I think this makes him strong. He loves her, without condition, and he believes in her. And it's fucking beautiful.
- He loves playing pyramid because it's the only place he feels in control while being totally out of control at the same time. He wishes he could say he felt the same way about flying too, and maybe he will one day. But he knows that's how Starbuck feels every time she gets into the cockpit. And maybe the reason he decided to become a pilot after she died was so he could feel close to her again. But if he's telling the truth, he hadn't felt close to her in a long time, and even now that she's come back, he still doesn't.
- He really, really, misses Duck...
Leoben.
- He would do anything for Starbuck. Anything. He would kill for her, die for her. (Over and over.) Even though he knows she wouldn't do the same for him. (But she would.) Some think this makes him sad and creepy, but I think it makes him strong. He loves her, without condition, and he believes in her. And it's fucking beautiful.
- For a long time, he felt lonely. His sisters and brothers never understood him, never felt what he felt, cast him aside. And though he didn't really care because he didn't quite understand them either, he often wished he wasn't so different, that he didn't see things, know things... but that was all before he saw her face.
- He knew that Earth would be like this, dead and gray and empty. He saw it in his dreams. All of this had happened before, and all of it would happen again. But he also knows what lies beyond it, and even if she hates him for it, he knows someday she'll see it too. Someday they'll all see.

Date: 2008-06-21 12:56 am (UTC)- He only believes in half the stuff he says.
- He's never had a family as good as his family on the island. Hurley, Jack, Sun, Claire, Aaron, Kate, Jin... all of them. He thinks he would do anything to keep them safe, and that scares him to death because he's never cared for anybody that much, not since Cassidy. And now they're gone. He jumped out of a helicopter to save their lives and everybody vanished. He had hoped they would come back for him.
- He will find Claire, if it is the last thing he does.

Date: 2008-06-21 01:12 am (UTC)Christian Shephard rocks because he's an amazing character, each time they brought him back on he just got more and more layered and more and more likeable even though he was kind of a total bastard to Jack growing up. Fans liked him so much I'm pretty sure that's why they kept bringing him back. Christian Shephard rocks because he is so Jacob.

Date: 2008-06-21 01:46 am (UTC)- Totally got drunk and had really amazing sex with Frannie one New Year's Eve. Even though she wouldn't talk to him about it after, he never regretted it.
- Ray never used to like dogs, but Diefenbaker is different. Sometimes he thinks about asking Fraser to breed him, find another half wolf female to make little mini Diefenbakers with so he can have one of his very own. But for some reason, he's always too scared to ask. He's not sure why. Maybe he's afraid people will think he's gone soft.
- Sometimes Ray thinks that meeting Fraser is the best thing that ever happened to him.
Kara Thrace.
I loved Kara from the start because she wasn't afraid to tell people what she thinks, even if it might get her into trouble. I identify with that exponentially. It's definitely the reason I was first drawn to her character. If I had a dollar for every time somebody said to me, "KC, if you would just learn to keep your mouth shut every once in a while..." then I'd be a very, very rich bastard right now. And that is just one of the many reasons she rocks the house. I could go on, and on, and on. But that was the very first thing I loved about her.

Date: 2008-06-21 02:28 am (UTC)Claire.
- Claire never truly loved Charlie. There's a part of her that wishes she hadn't let him believe she did. But because she knows his one thought before he died was of her, that it gave him strength and courage and solace in his final moments? She knows she did the right thing, even though it still kind of eats away at her soul.
- One night while everyone was asleep, before Charlie died, Claire snuck into Desmond's tent. They never said a word and in the morning she left before he woke. It wasn't a thank you for saving her life, or a pity fuck, or anything like that. But there was something in his eyes when he looked at her, like he could see through her, right to who she really was. They never brought it up, and she knows he's probably with Penny now and that's okay with her. She had needed him once, and he had needed her too, and that was that. That was all.
- She has never felt more safe than when she is in Sawyer's arms. Sometimes she laughs and he looks at her like she must be nuts. Nothing about this place is funny. But that exactly what's funny about it. That she's okay. Despite all this? Everything is fine. Right here, right now.

Date: 2008-06-21 02:08 am (UTC)Ruby kind of sucks because she wasn't honest from the start. If she really really wanted to help, she would have been. But, I still kind of love her. Why? Because I blame the writers, because they totally sucked this whole season and the only thing they got right was Ruby, even if she wasn't totally right.

Date: 2008-06-21 02:01 am (UTC)- He honestly believes all the crazy shit that he believes.
- He thought he loved (Caprica) Six, but he never really did, not even on New Caprica. The one inside his head? Never. But Gina? He loved her. True. Real. Love. That's why he gave her the warhead. He knew she'd blow herself to bits, and a lot of people along with her. But he also knew that's what she wanted. Death. An end. And truthfully, it was all he could give her. (And he knows she didn't love him back.)
- If he could start over? Do everything again? He'd sacrifice himself first, to save everybody else. If there was no other way? If he could change it all with that one act? That's what he'd do. He says he has no guilt, but the truth is it consumes him, the truth is it's going to kill him in the end anyway.

Date: 2008-06-21 01:54 am (UTC)- She doesn't want revenge. She wants to go back. If that means helping Widmore find the island, then that's what it means. She'll do anything.
- It's still weird for her when she wakes up and he's not next to her. It always takes a couple of seconds to get used to it again, but then the moment passes and she continues throughout her day. But there is never a second that goes by when she doesn't think of him and know that he's still alive and that he's waiting for her.
- She's forgiven Michael for everything he did. Not because what he did is in any way forgiveable, but because she understands him. What a person will do to get back the one person that is most important? She gets that now.

Date: 2008-06-21 02:38 am (UTC)Lee rocks because he always does what he believes is the right thing. Even adultery. He was following his heart and there is nothing more right than that in his eyes. He hasn't always done things that he's liked, but he only did them when he felt he had to. Olympic Carrier? Outing Roslin on the stand? Defending Baltar? All among the hardest things he's ever had to do, but all needed to be done in their own way.
Dualla.
- You could say that Dualla is a little bit in love with Adama, but more in the way that a daughter loves a father than the other way. She trusts him completely and sometimes she wishes things had worked out between her and Lee, just so she could still call him Dad. (Privately, of course, it'll always be Admiral in the CIC.)
- Sometimes Dualla thinks that she's one of the only sane people left on the fleet. And she's mostly right.
- Dualla was in love with Billy. But Lee was exciting, and attractive, and she was so, so young and didn't want to be pinned down. It hasn't been that long, a couple of years at the most, but somehow she feels much, much older and she knows she really did love him. Really, really. And she wishes she'd said yes when he asked. If she had he'd still be alive and she'd be his wife and she wouldn't be that stupid, stupid girl who married the man that didn't love her back. This is her biggest regret in life.

Date: 2008-06-21 09:22 pm (UTC)- Jack would have told Sawyer he loved him if he'd known he wouldn't have another chance. But that's not really the truth. If he had known what he was going to do that day? He would have jumped too.
- He thought he could live with it, continuing on, making a life with Kate. But he knows now he can't. There's a part of him that wishes he could make her understand. But he knows he can never tell Kate why he couldn't make it work, why he let her believe he didn't trust her, and the real reasons he wants to go back. Never.
- That day in the church crushed him. Claire's mother telling Jack all the things he didn't want to hear and never wanted to believe? Like a tight hot ball of poison in his gut. But weeks later, he's driving along the coast at night (the only place he ever really feels close to them), and he realizes that in some ways he'd known all along.
Blah that was crappy.

Date: 2008-06-21 09:31 pm (UTC)Desmond is awesome because even though he was a little crazy when we first saw him, he'd been stuck in that hole for years and he could still trust people. After being betrayed and lied to, being a lab rat for reasons he didn't even understand, and yet he still remained Desmond, and still compassionate and kind. Which is one of the many reasons he rocks.
Rube.
- Rube is ready for his ticket. And he really believes that when his time is up he'll be with his family and see his daughter again. He doesn't tell the kids that because he's built up this tough guy, take no prisoners, personage. And he knows they need him to be that way. Being a hard ass keeps them in line. Some days they think he hates them. But the truth is? When he goes? He wishes he could take them with him.
- Rube was a health nut before he became a reaper.
- Rube is always telling George to buck up, tells her that it's just another day on the job. She'll never know he thinks this is the hardest job he's ever done, that he tried to beat the system twice as many times as her, that he learned the hard way. She doesn't need to know that shit.

Date: 2008-06-21 12:36 pm (UTC)- Next to Digby, and before Chuck came back into his life, Emerson Cod was the only person who knew the truth about Ned. The only person he could confide in. It is for this reason that Emerson Cod, the grumpy ambulance chaser that he was, became Ned's best friend. It is for this reason that Ned once again found love with Charlotte Charles. And it is for this reason that he thinks that Emerson Cod discovering his secret is the best thing that ever happened to him.
- Sometimes, Ned dreams of petting Digby. (And sometimes Digby dreams of being petted by Ned.)

Date: 2008-06-22 02:19 am (UTC)Hurley rocks because he is so damn "innocent." I'm not saying the boy doesn't have problems but, even though he's been a part of all the action, he hasn't gotten involved in all the annoying drama and there hasn't been a single episode where I haven't loved him to pieces. It's his positivity and the way he treats other people. He's so damned likeable. Next to Sawyer (and the smaller characters they haven't really had a chance to totally frak up) he's the most well done character on that show. Thank you lost writers, for not ruining him!

Date: 2008-06-22 02:23 am (UTC)A lot of people think Helo is boring, and sure for several eps in season three the writers gave him a lot of "standing around" do to. (But at least he looks good doing it!) But I think the one thing I like about Helo is that he is genuinely a stand-up guy. I love that he's married to a cylon and that it always sets him apart from the rest of the crew. He has a different perspective on the whole cylon/human war and he's always made it known and he's always done what he thought was right (stopping the genocide, standing up for the eights, even though he really isn't married to the entire production line) and I just love the crap out of that guy. And I also really really love his relationship with Kara. Honestly, how many real friends does Kara have? She doesn't let anybody get close. But with Helo she does. And that means he's something pretty special, imo. (And I especially love the way he stood by her until the very end, until he had no other choice, on the Demitrius.)
