→ Been thinking about cutting my hair for a while so yesterday when [livejournal.com profile] barefoot_chick and myself went out a bit we decided to make an impromptu visit to the salon. She encouraged me, yay for her! Anyway, my hair's been longer than it's ever been recently, and I only got a little trim and some much needed layering, but but it's nice to have some shape again. Growing it out so long without a cut really did a number on it. I'm happy.

→ First, I realize there are many people who know how to not act like assholes and who know how to treat people respectfully, and did so. But for everyone else?

Dear unnamed group of entitled whiny fans who think they are in charge of shit they are not in charge of,

I don't know what your problem is, but deal with it. Sometimes, a simple question and answer session will do. Instead, you attack like a rabid, one-eyed, mangy, donkey. I don't know what that means but I do know that I hope you all get spontaneous dental hydroplosion. You're sucking the fun out of all life forms around you.

Please die, we hate you,
Everyone else in the entire world.

→ Yesterday, I watched Footloose for the first time in forever. Holy crap, I love the pants off of that movie! So good! Just, it keeps getting better. And I can totally sing along with every song. (I should be embarrassed! But I'm so totally not!) Best. movie. ever. I can't even pick my favorite thing. The chicken race (with tractors!), Ren teaching Willard to dance (okay, it's kind of slashy), Woody holding down those douchebags in the phone booth? The adorableness of mini!Sarah Jessica Parker... or, every other scene?

→ I started to type this whole long thing about Stargate Atlantis season three up to where I've seen it. But I think it all just comes down to how much it rocks. I'm liking it a lot. And in summation? Non-spoilery gratuitous quoting: My turtles! I just bought some wee baby turtles and no one knows to feed them!! &hearts! Carson! Too cute!

Dear unnamed group of entitled whiny fans who think they are in charge of shit they are not in charge of,

I demand to know the story behind this!

Basically somebody was going to print a book of gen fanfic in the SPN fandom to send to the show. According to my sources (all two of them) and a bit of reading, it was only going to be done with permission of the authors. But the wording was a little hazy so they attacked the poor person in droves (like flesh-eating zombies)! Which is not only totally unfair, it's unnecessary and stupid. Get some clarification first, and then eat people alive. Isn't that standard protocol?

I know a lot of people are just upset that they are thinking of sending fanfic to the show, which causes issues because of the whole, copyright infringement thing. And I suppose I understand their concerns, but if it's strictly voluntary, then nobody has any say in it but the people who actively choose to participate.

But honestly? I'm sure it's not the first time someone has sent fanfic (or fan art or drawings or fan poetry, etc.) to people involved with running a show. But like everything with this fandom, it's all serious business and of course completely unique - never happened before in any fandom, ever. *eyeroll*

Actually, I saw pictures of the BSG cast recently looking over a fan-made scrapbook which was made with countless no-doubt copyrighted images. Not a problem there.

I will never understand why the SPN fandom has such a huge STICK UP ITS ASS.

LOL, well, that fandom sure is good for entertainment at least.

It's crazy that they'd attack so quickly, but it's not surprising that people on the internet judge before knowing all the facts. I hope the person makes the book anyways because if it's all in good fun, I'm sure the people from the show would appreciate it.

I can understand reacting in all manor of different ways. But when you've seen that 300 people have already commented, some respectfully and some not-so respectfully? Why must you add to the fray? It's just the mob mentality of the whole thing that gets me more than anything.
