Does anybody know how to extract pictures from a flash site? (Like an official HBO site for a certain show I might be watching.) Per chance? This is of course a question I have asked myself many times before, but have never figured out. You can save everything else from the internet, there's gotta be a way. (Other than screencapping.) I spent a lot of time earlier today googling and I also looked for a firefox add-on of some kind but didn't find anything useful. Of course it was hard to know exactly what terms to enter into my search.

Is this ....

... helpful at all?

ETA: Looking at it, probably not... I just went to google and put in saving from flash so maybe that can be useful.

Oh, I was just going to suggest PRINT-SCREEN button, but that's screencapping. Whoops... :(

This sounds like it would do it. Just try the Trial version and dump it after. I used to have a program for that, but I forgot what it was and that computer is LONG gone... :(

Well yeah I'm sure there's a way to extract the source image. It's probably bigger than what I'm looking at. And also it seems that lots of flash sites have frames. Otherwise I'd totally be down with that.

I'm gonna have to try that again tomorrow because it keeps saying I don't have the adobe activex installed and I totally do. I'm wondering if maybe it's looking for an outdated version? I dunno. But if you happen to remember that other program hit me up with a name.

Take a look at these links:

I have a friend who figured out how to DL large FLV format (ie Flash format video) files from a major TV portal using a variation on this method. Basically, if it's streaming to your desktop, it has to load the file to you temporarily, so you just have to FIND OUT WHERE THE FILE IS on your computer and save it. From there it's really about making sure you have a player that can open/play the file ... or converting it to a format you can work with.

Hope that helps.

Actually they look like xml files. The only flash thing that saved was a pre-loader. I was able to find what I needed by using the adblock plus add-on in Firefox and doing some snooping. Yay!

Thanks you for your help!
