I don't normally do this, but I was wondering if anyone knows where I can find tutorials dealing with Supernatural screencaps. I've been making icons for a while now and I think I'm fairly good with coloring and improving images, but the muted colors and dark caps from SPN are driving me totally batty. I feel like, no matter what I do, everything is tan - for the most part. That's an exaggeration, but you get the picture.

If anyone knows of any tutorials that were made either using an SPN screencap or specifically about how to deal with SPN screencaps, that would be great. Let me know!

ETA: I have noticed a big majority of SPN icons are B&W. I'll definitely do the same, but I'd like to find some color in there too.

Welcome in the frustration club! LOL When I gave up SPN icons and moved to icon some other fandom it felt so refreshing! Ugh, those colors... those caps are a pain to icon! I must say I have never found really good SPN icons around(apart from b&w) especially when it comes to colouring. I love the work of oxoniensis... she is one of the best SPN iconers around IMHO. Her set of 2x01 is still one of the best around.

Unfortunately I have no idea where you could find tutorials... good luck! :P

I hope to find some, I have gotten some results but I'm super picky about my stuff. It's such a headache but I wanna icon it goshdarnit!

I have used her textures but I didn't realize she iconned SPN. I'll have to check her out. I mean... you know what I mean. Hehe.

Thanks!

I'm planning on making some caps from the first season dvd. Maybe i can have them looking a bit more bright.
Otherwise it usually works in my photoshop if I brighten them a bit.

Yeah I have found a good source of caps but it's really just the composition of the show. I mean it gives off this great eerie feel when you're watching it, but there's not a whole lot of color range there. Very very muted, almost desaturated at times.

Yeah, that's the downside of a show with supernatural content like Ghosts and stuff. Best scenes mostly play at nights.

What photo editing program are you using? I use Photoshop CS2, and usually when I'm iconing SPN I play around alot with the Brightness/Contrast, as well as color balance, and levels. Usually I can get a pretty good range of colors, but you can to play around with them.

I use elements but I recently got CS2 and I'm currently learning all of the fun things that program can do with graphics. It's fun. I found a couple tuts today actually. I'll post some icons today, see if I have figured anything out. Hehe.
