→ Guys, I think I just found the holy grail. (Or, you know? A smallish-sized chip of holy grail.) Word Count Plus firefox add-on? I love it! I also just typed ass-on which is like a whole different thing not related at all.

→ You Who-vians with your wacky regeneration stuff. I watched season one a while back. (Thank you [livejournal.com profile] mistojen.) And I saw probably at least half of the season with Donna. Who was awesome, by the way. But the reason I can't watch this show? The fact that nobody sticks around. I can't handle all the heartbreak, kids!

That guy? ↑??
Too young. Too pale. Too Dr. Frankenstein's Monster, if you ask me.
That may seem superficial but, I'm sure you're all thinking it too.
(What is with the hair?!)
Do not feel sorry for him.
He's the new Who, after all.
(Oh no! Now it's real!)

I guess, more than anything, I kind of feel sorry for you guys. Rose, Martha, Donna, now Ten too? There is no way I could be an avid fan of a show like that, where the only permanent fixture is literally the Tardis. I'm too attached to people. Ex-ter-minate.

the fanficcers love meme, continued

I managed to use it to count the words on the fics I posted today (since they were originally written in a comment, not a word document.)

His jawline keeps reminding me of Eric Stoltz's character in Mask...

But, yes, the constant change is definitely heartbreaking, especially when it feels like you've just gotten completely comfortable and truly accepted a new character.

Gah! THAT'S what it was. It was driving me nuts that I couldn't put my finger on it!

Holy crap that was Eric Stoltz? LOL. And dude, that is exactly what it reminds me of. LOL.

You forgot Nine *heart breaks again*

Honestly, just like any other show, I find that I get attached to some characters and not to others. I bawled when Nine regenerated and boycotted the show for ages when Rose was taken away. When I came back, I was still ehhh about Ten, but it didn't bother me to see Martha go. I cried like a little bitch when Donna went. I couldn't care less that Ten is regenerating.

...but into that thing? Really? He looks like he's some eighteen year old emo kid and he's got no eyebrows wtf :P but I'm waiting to judge, because I almost never gave Martha a chance, but when I did, I actually kind of liked her. So maybe I'll get lucky. I still think it should've been Eddie Izzard, though. *grumps*

Also, you're welcome ;)

I guess I forgot 1-9 too but I figured that was a given, hehe.

Oh my goodness Eddie Izzard would be awesome as who! See that? Look at the possibilities that they are passing up... for that dude.

On the plus side, the constant change means that if you *don't* like a character, you can take comfort in the knowledge that they won't be around to bother you much longer.

And, hey, recently we've gotten Sarah Jane and the Fifth Doctor and the Brig back in various ways, and they were long gone, so it's not like "they left" means "gone forever".

(Srsly, if this were any other show I would be constantly heartbroken by the character turnover rate, but....somehow I'm not and I keep trying to justify that to myself because I don't understand it! *flail*

Usually if I don't like a character as major as the doctor on my shows I just don't watch them, lol.

And I suppose that Who fans are used to this, but I'm not keen on becoming accustomed to this sort of thing. This isn't Menudo.

The fanficcer's love meme link doesn't work for me. Leads me to amusing LJ error 404 pages, though. :-)

Those of us who grew up with Old Who are quite philosophical about regeneration as a concept, and the inevitable ebb and flow of companions. We can, however, get quite exercised about the specific new people who show up.

This guy...I'm prepared to accept him, but I'm rather grumpy that he's a) so much younger than I am, and b) white. Sigh. It seems like a missed opportunity to me, but obviously the creative team has a vision of where they want to take the Doctor that he fulfills. So I'll wait and see.

I guess I don't know enough about it. I compared it to Menudo above. A clever way to make the franchise go on forever-and-ever-amen. Like... Bond, only the re-casting is simply ignored and not explained in any plotty sort of way.

He is very young. I don't actually know how old he is. I'm guessing mid-ish twenties? And it really is a shame that they had an opportunity to do something different and instead they've brought on more of the same? Has Obama taught the world nothing? CHANGE is the way, peeps.

I hope for your sake, you're right about the plan and the purpose. But for my sake? I'm just hoping he gets a better haircut so the iconnage isn't too hideous.

He's 26, evidently, which I find somewhat alarming. But he has good Doctor-y body language, from what I've seen. I'm thankful at least that he's not too pretty. (:

I know! I know! I've been jumping around seasons of Doctor Who and gotten attached to David Tennant. He's leaving!
*sobs*

New guy? He's my age! Not that that's bad or anything, just...he looks like he belongs in Twilight! And that's not a good thing!

From: [identity profile] crickets.livejournal.com
Yeah it's definitely not a good thing to look like you belong in twilight. I mean, check the 'do (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/tvandradio/4094067/Casting-Matt-Smith-shows-that-Doctor-Who-is-a-savvy-multi-million-pound-brand.html).

LOL! I still miss Adric! That should tell you something about how many people have come and gone since I started watching.

Hhahaha, it should tell you how much I know about who when I say I haven't a clue who Adric is, lol.

Got any peanut butter with that celery?

Eek, the leaving! It's been slighting easier on new!Who fans with Jack coming and going, and Rose and Martha popping up a bit, but it's still hard. I like the angst, though, you can't get anything better outside of HP.

But ugh, this guy! I'm trying so hard not to be pessimistic, but I keep seeing him on my flist and thinking "what are you doing here? Get back to my bandom communities!" and then realizing oh, yeah, that's Eleven. Ugh.

Have you ever seen Coupling? I think Ben Miles would have been a good Doctor. Or Eddie Izzard. Or anyone except who we have, really. =/

go back to bandom!

Date: 2009-01-05 04:18 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] crickets.livejournal.com
That statement is, sadly, rather accurate.

Someone on my flist just said he was like a cross between a vampire and a WRAITH. Charming.

No I haven't seen Coupling but anyone named Ben is okay in my book. Wait, just remembered Ben from lost. Scratch that. I'm sure he's positively delightful.

Actually, I just looked him up and he looks pretty adorable. Definitely preferable.

Mr. Izzard would have made a frakkin' awesome Who. I probably would have been forced to start watching at that point.
