krickets: (LOST. jack; who?)

This episode needed some Richard.

I haven't talked about Lost much lately. But it's mostly because my opinion differs from, oh, I dunno, everyone else's?

An example: Last week's Sawyer and Juliet pretty much reminded me of Kate and Kevin, boring and fake.

Re: This ep:

The Sawyer/Jack crap at the end was so, umm... fucking retarded/the last straw/completely out of the blue/dumbdumbdumbdumb/etc. take your pick.

And I see a lot of people reading it as Jack being a bitch but I don't think anybody was a bigger bitch in that scene than Sawyer. Way to hold a grudge against some probable mistakes* someone made several years ago when he was really only doing the best that he could. What was that about? I just did not get it.

There were things about the episode I liked, but they were mostly arbitrary. (Except for Sun knocking Ben out and leaving his ass behind -- that was awesome and relevant.)

*"probable mistakes" because no one knows how it would have turned out had different choices been made

A big fat yes to allll of this.
I definitely though Sawyer was being the bitchier of the two.
And just...ugh..what was even the purpose of that scene? To make us mad?

edit cuz ps - didn't the outfit Jack was wearing, that Sawyer had him change into, kinda remind you of Richard clothes? IDK the shirt just looked like on of his for some reason lol

Sawyer was totally regressing and having a pissing contest with Jack. Just like always! They have some baggage, those two.

aww, see, where i am, I am just curious to see Jack and Sawyer on the same screen. it was a bitch fight, I agree, where both were pretty pissy.

richard would have been awesome. *misses him*

I totally agree with you on the Richard part. He should make an appearance with alarms blaring in every episode. Also, Sun + oar = awesome.

LOL - check my review. I SO feel the same way. Especially because he's recriminating Jack's mistakes during a time when Sawyer's choices include stealing, beating up people, benefit from the other's pain and suffering, etc. etc. etc. If I liked Sawyer a lot better this week is because to me it proved he can still be a real bastard instead of picking flowers because oh - they smell so good.

It's weird, because the majority of the stuff you said in this post is the opposite of what my thoughts were on the show, but yet...I still somehow agree with you? My feelings on this show are so completely difficult to explain - most of the time, I try to keep it as superficial as possible. To me, it isn't BSG or FNL and I don't look to it for that kind of depth in characterization. I even gave up this show for a while because it was just irritating me all the time, because I was looking for too much.

So now, I just enjoy what's given to me, for the most part - I take what's on the screen and just run with it. I, personally, enjoyed the smackdown, but mainly because I've always disagreed with Jack's 'leadership methods'. But my friend made a good point to me about how it was sort of out of place, considering Jack wasn't being bitchy or know-it-all. There was the comment about the reading, but it was an easy assumption to make until Sawyer explained himself. I don't know. My first initial reaction was to enjoy the smackdown, but I'm sure in a few days I'll realize how undeserving it was at the time. Smackdown or not, though, I'm glad that, for once, everyone didn't fall in line behind Jack. I'm finding him more interesting in this position of not having any control or power over anything.

Anyways, I'd love to talk about it if you want, I hope I'm not coming across like I'm defensive or anything. I love having actual conversations about the shows I watch, haha.

But Sun! I love when her badassery starts to show.
