krickets: (FILM. why so mean?)

Did I like it?

Um not really.

Reason numero uno. There was way too much Cavil. And why was he macking on an eight and a six? Come on, that doesn't get any less gross. Ever. No matter how many times I see it.

And to be perfectly honest, I felt like I was watching an hour and fifty minutes worth of deleted/extended scenes. (Which unless there is some great exception, I almost always feel were cut for a reason.) It was nice to see Sammy T. (and a little bit of Leoben) again and all, but for the most part I was bummed. First, wasn't this filmed over a year ago? Why so long, network-formerly-known-as-Sci-Fi? All the re-used footage made me kinda sad. They didn't appear to be lengthened or even edited differently for the most part. I'm not trying to be a downer, but I wasn't a huge fan of Razor either and this is kind of on par with that. Too much "why do I care?" and not enough "I'm so glad I took the time to watch this." (Hardly any of that actually.) There wasn't anything new or that interesting. And certainly nothing insightful. Nothing that made me understand/love the show any more than I already do.

It kinda seemed like one big love affair to Cavil, the way it ended with his death(s) and how he got his greatest wish (sorta). Ew. And what happened to compassionate Cavil. Maybe if that guy had existed (with that interpretation) within the context of the show, I might have cared a little bit about the fracturing of the Cavil line.

Also, elephants?

So... BSG-fail. I can't pretend to feel differently.

I haven't watched it yet. I skipped around though, and saw a lot of old footage and a lot of Cavil. And now this review pretty much confirms that it may not be all that I had hoped. I'm still gonna watch it however, but I have a feeling I will feel similar to you when it's all over.

Elephants? Pray tell.

Yeah I was not really impressed. Maybe this is why they've been holding it so long. Cause it is kind of a huge let-down.

Elephants, in order to get Boomer to remember she's an agent, Cavil shows her an elephant figurine. It just seemed like a strange way to go about it. All he has to do is hide it from her view and bam she's Boomer again. I just always figured she was programmed to sabotage the humans and simply didn't remember carrying out those actions. Not that she was switched on and off. (Still doesn't explain why she shot Adama when she did, there was no elephant in that scene.)

I don't think they thought it was a let down. It got pretty heavily touted at various cons if memory serves.

The elephant thing sounds majorly weird.

Well then they were mistaken, lol.

Yeah. I think the only thing worth it was some of Simon's storyline aboard the fleet. But then again I've always kind of wanted to know more about that model.

Wonderful. That's one that I've cared the least about (though that might have everything to do with his lack of screentime).

My mom's gonna be pissed. She got all excited when I said I got a download.
