Jack/Claire, road trips and old motels, PG

Date: 2010-04-18 07:12 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] gemjam.livejournal.com
She likes to stay in the most broken down of places. Jack thinks it’s because it matches her mood, but he doesn’t like to think about that. She’s not broken to him, she’s perfect, like an angel in dirty clothes that never seem to get clean anymore. That’s one of the reasons he likes to undress her. She’s so flawless underneath.

Cobwebs fascinate her like nothing else. Sometimes, after sex, her mind gets dark and she talks about spinning webs and eating things alive. Jack is certain she’d make the most beautiful web, frail threads that glisten in the sun. It’s not what she wants to hear, but it’s how he sees her. It’s how he sees them. Exquisite and fleeting, just like life.

She likes to feel the wind in her hair. The top is always down on the convertible, and she puts her arms out like wings, like maybe she could take off and fly. She laughs, her head thrown back, and he loves her more than ever in those moments. Just a girl with an impossible dream. As long as she dreams, she hasn’t given up; on herself, on him, on the world. As long as she dreams, she hopes and as long as she hopes, she breathes; in laughs and sighs and moans and words that never ever mean what she says.

Oh gosh I love that last line. This is just arresting. I love the contradiction throughout this whole thing. You've really captured a side of Claire, or at least, the Claire in my head, that I just love. Thank you so much for writing them!

Lost, Claire/Jack, tattoos, travel, in secret

Date: 2010-04-18 07:53 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] toestastegood.livejournal.com
"I've got a tattoo too," Claire had said in the morning sun, her bare foot pushing against his leg.

It isn't until now, in the dim light of the lamp at their bedside, that he finds it, hidden away. It's a butterfly on her hip, small and pink. His fingers brush over it, tracing the delicate outline, and she laughs in delight. "I was a teenager. It was cool at the time." She speaks as if her teenage years are an eternity ago, but it's not the case - she's still so young. Jack feels ancient at her side.

He lies between her legs and leans over to apply his tongue to the tattoo, tasting her skin. He imagines the taste of ink beneath his tongue: he tries to think of what it would have been like for her when she'd gone to get it done. A dirty tattoo parlour in her home town; someone large and threatening with the tattoo gun. He should have been there to hold her hand.

A real big brother would have been.

He doesn't think about that, doesn't want to think about that, and as Claire's girly giggles turn to interested sounds of approval she provides the perfect distraction. The patch of coloured skin is slick beneath his tongue now, shining in the faint light, and he moves elsewhere, nuzzling between her legs as she spreads them happily for him. His fingers trace the outside of her slit, opening her up for him, until his mouth and tongue are able to suck and lick where she needs it most.

He listens to the sound of her heaving breath and barely contained screams. Her head is tilted back and her face has gone red, like it always does: he knows her so well by now, better than he ought to. He knows how she works. That means something, doesn't it? That has to mean something.

She falls apart and climaxes beneath his tongue, her strong hands scrambling for purchase on the motel sheets. She never cries out for him when she comes, never screams his name, and that's alright. This isn't real; this isn't them.

Tomorrow, they will visit the sea-side. They will be brother and sister again, trying to work out what that means to them.

That is tomorrow. This is tonight.

And tonight, she is his. Tonight, he gets to take care of her, he gets to make her scream.

You're welcome, sweetie, I'm glad that you like it :)

Somewhere in the waking they lost some essential bit of themselves, she had a daughter that would never be, he had a son that he did not know---

Leaving is easier than it should be.

They take his jeep, it’s dirty inside and the air conditioner is broken.

“You’re a doctor; shouldn’t you be able to afford to have this fixed?”

He laughs and it sounds hollow, wry.

“I don’t know,” he answers honestly.

She doesn’t say anything else, doesn’t think of Jin begging her to stay, or of her father somewhere in this strange world determined to hunt her down, instead she turns on the radio and listens to a man sing about fading away.

Beside her Jack’s hands are trembling.

***

They stay in a motel room with pink flowers on the bed spread and dust on the night stand, a Bible tucked away in the back of the drawer.

“I can ask them to bring up a cot,” Jack offers.

She shakes her head, reaches out for his hand and tugs him towards her. This is all they have left of their world, of their lives. The only proof that any of it every happened at all.

“We can share, Jack.”

***

He kisses her and his stubble burns against her cheek, leaves it an angry shade of red. Her fingers trace the outline of stars on his skin and she’s thankful that this hasn’t changed, wasn’t lost somewhere between times.

She’s always been curious about the art on his arms, always wanted to know what would drive this steady, serious man to mark his body with stars and numbers and words from a language she knows he can not speak.

“What do they mean?” she asks and he just laughs and laughs until he’s crying.

***
They leave before the sun comes up; Jack stops to buy a map from a convenient store, spreads it out on the hood of the jeep, and asks her to close her eyes and point.

She does. Her finger lands on a plot of land in the center of the country, far, far away from any ocean.

She remembers sitting next to him on the beach, the promise of home falling from his lips so easily. She’s not sure what that means anymore, isn’t sure if this is his way of keeping his word or breaking it.

“Perfect,” Jack says.

It’s not, nothing is, nothing ever will be, but it’s a direction, a destination, something to run towards and for now that will have to be enough.

“I’ll drive,” she says as she takes the keys from his hand.

sometimes jack makes promises he doesn’t keep, and sun knows, she knows when he says i promise and weeks later she admits: she knows, and she’s grateful they’re the same, deep down, good intentions, fated failures. one big perpetual disappointment. she’s grateful it doesn’t hurt that bad this time. she’s grateful she gets to be angry at him (liar, you promised;)and not at herself; grateful as her shivering teeth pierce the ink in his arm, tasting make-believe stars and sweat and sand and sour. you promised you promisedyoupromised. he whispers he’s sorry, grunts, jerks her up. she tears at his shirt, listens to the cotton moaning as her nails pull it apart, break it in two to the rhythm of his fingers, tearing her up.

Oh my lord!
*fans self*
I love this. LOVE. It's just so intimate and yet hot at the same time and I love the pink tattoo and yes.

This:
he knows her so well by now, better than he ought to. He knows how she works. That means something, doesn't it? That has to mean something.

Love that.

And the ending. Those last three paragraphs.

Perfect. Perfection. Thank you!

*dies*

Hooooooo boy, GUH!
Hot and intense and I agree, those last three paragraphs are just perfect.

I love the entire concept of this. That first line kind of just punches you in the gut, doesn't it? Ouch. It's the perfect scenario to have them thrown together.

It's sweet and subtle and just dark enough to suit me.

I really love the stuff about his tattoo and how Sun takes comfort in that it still exists. Really love that for some reason.

Her finger lands on a plot of land in the center of the country, far, far away from any ocean.

I'm with Jack on this one: Perfect.

And I adore that last line. Sun saying she'll drive. It really fits here and fits the transformation she's been on all these seasons.

Oh OUCH. That is definitely angsty.

I just adore this line:
grateful as her shivering teeth pierce the ink in his arm, tasting make-believe stars and sweat and sand and sour. you promised you promisedyoupromised.

I really am impressed with the style of this and how well it works and how coherent it is. I didn't even really realize what you'd done until after I was done reading. Well done!

Thank you so much!

Jacob/Richard; Angst, In Secret; PG-13/R

From: [identity profile] wandersfound.livejournal.com
He comes to you late at night, when the sun falls below the horizon, so low that the orange rays no longer dance across the water. The moon is high in the sky, but waning, a sliver of white in the black, black sky, and it doesn’t cast much light on him as he walks through the jungle to find you.

He’s quiet, only speaks when you speak to him, and even then it’s whispered, muttered, one-word answers or maybe two. It isn’t that he’s unwilling to talk; it’s that he can’t. It’s that if he could, you wouldn’t want to listen. He knows and you know and neither of you care because he’s not here to talk. He’s here to give and he’s here to take and nothing about the gentle slide of him inside you or the rough thrusts of you inside him requires words.

He isn’t her. He isn’t her and he never will be and when Jacob leaves, as unnoticed and unspeaking as he came, you feel even emptier than before.

Arizona/Alex, absence leading to urgency

Date: 2010-04-19 03:58 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] primarycolors92.livejournal.com
When Alex comes back from wherever it was he disappeared to, he comes back to Arizona's door.

He's lost weight, somehow, in the seven days he's been gone, and he smells a bit like the inside of a bar. Arizona couldn't care less.

Alex is here, outside her apartment, in her kitchen, on her bed, solid against her in more ways than one and Arizona is inhaling him, forcing her way past cloth and buttons and zippers until she can get her hands against his skin, finally.

She touches him everywhere, runs her hands through his hair (getting too long), against the points of his vertebrae, strokes his sides feather-light until he flinches, reaches one hand to wrap around his cock, fingers deceptively strong, and the other reaches up to cup his cheek.

There are things to do later: she should call Meredith, so everyone will know Alex is home (home) and there's the impending freak-out about her sexuality she keeps putting off, but those are too do later.

Now, Arizona's world has narrowed to the desperate friction, the quiet, gasping breaths, the feel of Alex inside her and enveloping her, finally, finally, here.

Oh wow I love how this just jumps right in with no explanation of how they got there. Really well done. I was seriously hoping someone would write them and I love the way you've done it here.

This was great:
There are things to do later: she should call Meredith, so everyone will know Alex is home (home) and there's the impending freak-out about her sexuality she keeps putting off...

I giggled a bit, lol. And now I can just imagine how they ended up like that. Just enough mystery to keep me guessing! Thank you! ♥

Aww, thanks! I was thinking along the lines of family problems, but I think being with Alex, especially post-Izzie, means not knowing a lot of what's going in with him. He's not very open.

Plus, I really want them to have on-call room sex. Threesome. With Callie.

Betty/Daniel, angst w/hope

Date: 2010-04-21 03:08 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] dreamsofspike.livejournal.com
He never thought this would happen.

It was the whole reason she got the job in the first place -- because she was the type of girl that Daniel Meade would never in a million years take any kind of interest in.

At first, he even tried to get rid of her.

And then... he got to know her.

Betty proved to be the most loyal, generous, kind-hearted person Daniel had ever known in his entire life. She went out of her way for him again and again, doing everything in her power to bail him out of the self-created messes in which he seemed to find himself on a daily basis... but she meant so much more to him than that.

Over time, Betty had become a dear and trusted friend.

She was there at the hospital when Molly passed. Daniel's mother was there as well, and offered him a slightly awkward half-hug before discreetly leaving the room, nodding to Betty to follow her and give her son some space.

Betty didn't notice. Her attention, as always, was focused on Daniel.

She went to him and put her arms around him, holding on even when she felt his natural resistance as he tried to end the hug. After a few moments, he gave in, and she held on tight as his shoulders shook with his sobs of grief -- offering him a kind of support which she had always had in her own family, but which was new and unfamiliar and desperately needed for him.

He knew in that moment that he loved her -- like a best friend, or like family.

It was several months later when the truth of the matter hit him -- a quietly unexpected truth that was suddenly clear as his own name.

He was in love with Betty Suarez.

Equally unexpected was finding out that she was in love with him, too.

Sometimes it's the things you can't plan for or expect that end up being the best parts of your life.
