TRUTH: I am so, so, cynical about anything involving JJ Abrams but even I got butterflies in my stomach when I watched it because of the MUSIC and the big-eyed precocious kids and Steven Spielberg and shades of ET which is one of my all-time favorites, and even a little of that tingly sensation I associate with M. Night in there (shut up, I still love him, despite recent failures.) This movie's got my number. I can feel it. (Also, Coach Taylor, is that you?)

Yea it could go both ways for me. I love Star Trek like the next person but I also have bad memories of Cloverfield so I'm on the fence of this being the next big JJ Abrams project.

Yeah, the JJ part is what made a bit skeptical but after this trailer I'm pretty much already standing in line for my tickets.

It feels like a nice throwback to maybe ET or Close Encounters and I reallly like that aspect. I'm hoping for a good down to earth exciting sci-fi movie. We need one.

There's no shame in loving M. Night. He's totally going to make a come back one of these days. We just have to steer him away from anything involving evil plants in the future.

It's pretty darn good. Plus I love Elle Fanning and didn't know she was in it. I am hesitant to say she is more talented than her sister, but I am willing to acknowledge the possibility. But I am also willing to say that she is talented in a completely different more subtle kind of way and I totally dig it.

Hahaha, hey now! You could be totally right, but I have a feeling it has the potential to be awesome. Maybe not in a "critically acclaimed" way but in a way that makes you feel like a kid at the movies again. When that sort of thing was special. I am strangely not too concerned about what the thing is!

I'm really excited for this movie! Watching the preview, I got this crazy nostalgic, deja vu-y feeling, lol. I blame all the reasons you listed above - THE MUSIC, the kids, Spielberg, etc. Coach Taylor is an added bonus, heh.

YES! Nostalgic! See my mood for this post. Hahaha. It just reminds me of so many of my favorite movies as a kid and in recent film history. It is such a throwback to all of that. So yeah, I'm excited!

I am super excited for this movie. It feels like such classic Spielberg. I love JJ but I wish Spielberg was actually directing this one, not just producing. Especially since the whole thing seems so rooted in Spielberg's childhood.
