Date: 2010-10-18 10:58 pm (UTC)Okay I will try, but just for you!
01. In my mind there is Britta One and Britta Two. I liked Britta One and I emphatically do not like Britta Two. Which also sucks because I just get lumped in with your average Britta-haters. I just honestly feel like they have changed the character drastically. She's the most irritating of the bunch now, with the exception of Chang and Pierce -- but I think that's on purpose. Britta Two is only good when she's acting with the group as a part of a whole. Whenever she steps outside and we see the individual, she's my least favorite, hands down.
02. Similarly, I think Jeff and Britta bring out the worst in each other. I could probably cite several examples of this but I think anyone who watches probably knows what I mean.
03. I'm with Annie. I think Joel McHale/Jeff is getting uglier/creepier and not the other way around

Date: 2010-10-18 11:01 pm (UTC)Truth: I don't like Doctor Who one bit. (I did watch season one and about half-ish of season four.)
However, Donna Noble was awesome.

1. I can't handle Ian and his facial expressions/eye!acting. They're crazy and random and it just makes it so incredibly hard to take him seriously. It makes me think of a cartoon character. He has moments where this is not the case of course, but still.
2. The whole "it's just us" stuff about Stefan and Damon being able to walk in the sunlight bugs me. Because just about every other vampire we've seen must also have a magic ring because they too can walk in the sunlight. I guess it's a case of the writers changing their minds later on, but it's the one peeve I have. I think if they'd addressed it more or even attempted to cover it up with a feasible retcon instead of ignoring it I'd probably be happier, lol.
3. Damon/Elena -- not feeling it. In fact I think the fact that the humans who know who he is don't run the other way when they see him coming is pretty ridiculous. He killed like five people in the first half of season one. I think I made a joke with you once about instead of saying "He's a psycho killer, we should probably put a stake through his heart," that the girls on this show were instead saying, "He's a psycho killer, we probably shouldn't date him." And this was still pretty early on so he hadn't begun to "transform" as he has now. His presence an ally instead of a villain makes a whole lot more sense to me now, but he still doesn't really deserve anyone's trust, especially after what he did to Jeremy. And I say this with the possible exception of Liz (Caroline's mom) -- I feel like his connection to her and him protecting her was genuine. I'm not entirely sure why Stefan has kept him around all these years, except perhaps as a safety-in-numbers kind of thing. I do like his character because he's so entertaining of course, but I still distrust him.

Date: 2010-10-18 11:39 pm (UTC)1. I'm not sad Wash died. I mean, when you think about it, sure, okay. But it was the end. They were probably close to 100% sure that this would be their last foray into this world and somebody had to die right? I think when characters die at the end of the movie or at the end of the show, while it may be emotionally moving and gripping, at least it doesn't mean that the show goes on without them. I'm more sad that Firefly as a series/franchise died than the fact that Wash died right along with it. It's appropo anyway. Without her pilot, she can't fly anymore.
2. My favorite canon ship is obviously Mal/Inara -- but, and this is where I think it may get unpopular, my favorite non-canon ships, in fact my only non-canon ships are River/Simon and Simon/Mal. (And oh! Possibly Mal/Simon/River.) However I don't really read River/Simon and have never written it. My love for them has blossomed in the vids I've seen for them for the most part.

3. I honestly can't think of anything? I didn't like YoSaffBridge? I have no idea if that's popular or not.

Date: 2010-10-18 11:52 pm (UTC)2. I feel like not liking the finale is a major unpopular opinion. Even people who didn't like it seemed to find something to like about it. I was really unhappy with it. The island payoff was not actually a payoff and a bit more like charging extra interest on those 6 years I spent watching it (I'll have another six months please -- and I won't even bother to say thank-you.) Plus, the "emotional character ending" in many ways for many of the characters (especially the supporting characters) -- sort of ignored all of the ways in which they'd changed and reverted them back to old versions of themselves -- which for me, was not very satisfying at all. I wasn't down with the religious themes either. However, I will say that those last shots of Jack stumbling through the bamboo forest and lying there on the ground and closing his eyes are some of the most beautiful I've ever seen.
3. I'm not sure whether or not my crack-pairing non-canon ships count as unpopular, so I'll just say that I've been continually (not necessarily continuously, though it comes close!) disappointed by this show since the onset of season two.

Date: 2010-10-18 11:59 pm (UTC)2. My favorite non-canon ships (even if I haven't written them yet!) are Topher/Priya, Alpha/Echo, and Tony/Paul. (That last one, I know!) BUT Since it never really happened on the show, I'm gonna also say that Zone/Mag is also on that list.
3. I loved Topher Brink.
4. (For good measure.) I do not comprehend all of the Adelle/Dominic shippage at all.

Date: 2010-10-19 12:03 am (UTC)2. Peter/Olivia, not my thing -- on the show it's okay but it doesn't inspire me at all. Also, Peter/Astrid? I don't ship it. I totally ship Olivia/Charlie (alt version included) though. And you know Peter/Charlie could be cool as well.
3. I sometimes find Walter frustrating. His scenes move so slowly because of his slow and rambling speech patterns and I think, moreso during the end of season two and so far in season three, they've made him more a caricature than a character and that bugs me.
ETA:
Adding this because I just assumed this opinion of mine was known.
4. I did not like the back half of season two as much as everyone else seemed to love it. I found a lot of the "reveals" or emotional moments that we had been waiting for all this time to be big let-downs, unfortunately and that's the sole reason that it wasn't as great for me as it was for others.

Date: 2010-10-19 12:09 am (UTC)2. YOU KNOW THIS ONE. I was really disappointed in Nathan's character/actions/behavior in the last several episodes. I think my inner thoughts about him when watching these eps were along the lines of "He needs to grow up." (But the good news is that I very much think he will -- because he's been forced to.)
3. I may or may not have been plotting that Julia/Duke/Nathan fic over the last couple of days. Haha. This is not an opinion -- although the idea of it may be unpopular -- it is just a fact.

Date: 2010-10-19 12:26 am (UTC)2. Is, "I ♥ Kara/Leoben!" still an unpopular opinion? Or how about "I didn't hate the finale?" I'm not sure -- but both of these are true for me.
3. I always loved Gaius Baltar. I know a lot of people still take issue with him so that's probably an unpopular one. Even when he was being insane, and stupid, and dispicable, he was always entertaining, always himself and just in my opinion a fascinatingly flawed and yet strangely understandable character and James Callis is a total geek-boy genius for playing him the way he played him.
