Hello kiddies. I spent far too much time today writing a new userinfo page and a banner for this fresh layout (tm
wavesoak) of mine. I got the textures from ofthesky.net and the screencap from
crystalkirk. I loved the Gale banner, but the colors I'd chosen for the rest of the page were driving me bonkers and I had to start clean. The lyrics in the banner are from The Boogie Monster by Gnarls Barkley and the screencap is from Serenity.
I'll probably have a small batch of icons in a couple of days. But in the meantime, I've got some interesting recs for those of you who check out YouTube (and heck, those who don't as well) hidden behind the cut.
The Winekone: Yes, you read that correctly. He's a recent college graduate from Canada and he's hilarious beyond explanation. I'll link you to one of my favorite of his segments here. It is entitled Hand Gestures, which starts out with a bit of a rant.
Ask A Ninja: Advice from a ninja is the best advice ever. A hilarious segment involving how to give a Ninja-style excuse to get out of shit you don't want to do is here. The main website can be found at askaninja.com and I definitely recommend you check it out. Basically the premise of this is that people send in questions and the ninja answers them in the most Ninja-like way possible. Sounds a little goofy and it is, but it's good fun. In addition to Ninja Excuses, my most recent favorites are Ninternships and KillaCon. Revolution Cubed was pretty good too.
Terra Naomi: She's an amazing unsigned singer/songwriter who is doing a "summer concert series" via her apartment with the help of YouTube. Beautiful voice and lyrics. Check her out here. I recommend Go Quietly, The Vicodin Song, and Say It's Possible to start you off.
I've been sort of swept up by YouTube lately. The past couple of months I've been checking the site out more often and I've found some pretty interesting stuff, to say the least. Granted, out of the original programming on YouTube (not ganked copyrighted stuff) only about 15% of it is really worth watching, if that. Those are just blind estimates given the amount of crap I've stifted through during some of my searches. Anyway, just thought I'd pass along some of the good stuff to you. I've got a pretty long subscription list, so I'll recommend some more stuff for you later. Enjoy!
