krickets: (REVENGE. just a lonely soul. nolan.)

I've decided I'm also going to start doing episode responses again, okay? This has nothing to do with how awesome Revenge was tonight.

Revenge 1.11, Duress

→ Let me first just say that I love that I can watch this show with my mom. It's ridiculous but also totally awesome and she loves it. I was getting up to get a cup of water and saying "Don't go to the party Nolan! You're my favorite." Then my mom gasps and says "Tyler's right there!" Awesome TV moment leading to awesome family moment. Done and done.

→ Have I mentioned that Nolan is my favorite? And that I kind of more-than-ship him and Emily? Well I do, and they were awesome in this episode. Emily looked up friendship on the internet! (D'aww!) And apologized! And they were adorable! My heart was filled with squee! It's almost enough to make me forget this:

NOT QUITE THOUGH.

→ Jack and Declan remain adorable with their brotherly banter. Love it. I admit I don't entirely hate Fauxmanda, but the thing is that when Jack finds out she's not the real deal, he's going to be all heartbroken and sad. Do I have to ask Pacey Witter to remind you how I get about scrappy underdogs on their romantically-named boats, or can history speak for itself here?

→ GO AWAY TYLER.... oh, thanks for finally listening. (I fear it won't be the last.)

→ I wish I could care more about Charlotte and Daniel. (And Conrad for that matter. Basically all of the Graysons except for Victoria.) Daniel is a nice guy but ohmygod BORING! The best part of the night is when he made eyes with Jack. I thought it was the universal "let's go somewhere and make out" cue, but it turns out they just wanted to tackle Tyler. Oh well, that works too.

→ I swear if Nolan and Amanda don't hook up at least once!... I - I will... have to read some very strongly-worded fan fiction!

→ That is all, goodnight! *takes a bow*

Um, Nolan and Amanda/Emily are why I watch this show. Screw Jack and Daniel; Nolan Ross is why I tune in. If they hadn't made up in this episode, I would have burnt ABC down. I watch the show with my grandmother, and she has the same reactions as your mom. "Revenge," it's for everyone.

Last night's episode rockeddddd. I'm right there with ya on Emily and Nolan needing to be awesome together ALWAYS. All their scenes were golden tonight, especially the last one. Their faces ... so close ... the banter ... I love them. Silly show is silly, when two actors have so much chemistry it's just so ridiculous to know I'll have to deal with blah Daniel and blah Jack instead to the bitter end, lol.

Didn't it? Oh man! They definitely need to be awesome together as much as narratively possible. Emily and Nolan should at least have a one night stand at some point... or a friends with benefits vibe. MAKE IT HAPPEN, ABC.

This episode was so good! Omg. I loved the reveal that emily had removed the bullets from her gun but played along with the whole thing anyway, it was so perfect. Not a fan of psych drugs equal evil, but every character played true to their part, and they took their only in-character opportunity to contradict the problematic message.

Tyler, nolan, and emily were all at the top of their game, omg it was so good.

Well it was the lack of drugs that was the problem. Tyler is clearly an unstable person to begin with, and Emily needed her proof so I guess the empty pill bottle was the best way to put that across. It's more sloppy storytelling than anything though. This episode is going to be hard to live up to. The promo for next week just looks so bland in comparison.

I mean, yes, but Emily was telling whatsherface 'oh it must feel terrible to find out you've been dating dr jekyll and mr hyde all this time' on no more basis than the fact that he takes a benzo (it was just benzos, wasn't it?), before anything else had come out. OTOH that's *exactly* what Emily would say, so I can't hold it against the writers for having her say that, you know? Plus whatsherface hit her right back with the comment about empathy... but then Emily's 'right' in the end? Or something?

It was kind of funny how *no one* there (except his brother) knew how to handle someone who's in irrational-aggression space. I kept going *omg no no no you idiots* (even though that, too, was in character; Emily being the only one who I'd've expected to know how to handle him and she *wanted* his shit to come out).

I don't know whether this was Emily's intent or not, but I kind of wonder if she wasn't giving the Graysons a chance to repent, as it were, and if so, I kind of like that. By forcing this situation where Conrad had the choice between letting some innocent person die and telling the truth about what he did, even to a small group, she regains the moral high ground which had gotten really really muddled.

So I've read your comment on the Nolan/Emily Festvid & next thing you know, everything is this entry & nothing hurts. Seriously, these two are the light of my eyes on Revenge, and it's a great feeling to happen upon other people who think the same & flail about it in their journals. I could use more Nolan/Emily talk in my life, ngl. Would you like to be friends?

P.S. I've also converted my mum, btw, so I know exactly how you feel. She even ships N/E, which I thought I'd be foreveralone in when I first started watching. My favourite comments of hers are, "I doubt Jack & Emily could ever work" and (during one of the Nolan scenes early on) "You're right, he's incredibly good-looking." #quality family bonding
