...Too Easily

→ Okay so I forgot about one of my comedies. That comedy is Parks and Rec. I watched the finale and can I just say that Leslie is so perfect. And Billy has been so hilarious. He's so clueless (omg not that again!). I kind of want his character to come back next season. I hope that's a thing that's happening. I am a little "meh" on a couple of the other storylines. (Ann Perkins, I'm looking at you girlfriend.) But overall it was another great season.
→ I still have yet to watch Revenge this week and I hear it's a doozie. It needs to be after that boring-as-fuck flashback episode. I was not impressed or moved or any of the things I was supposed to be. Sorry, show. Still weirdly addicted toNolan Ross this show, and I am curious to see how it all unravels. (And what the hell a second season is going to look like, to be honest.)
→ PAST-TENSE THINGS I HAVEN'T FINISHED: I need to start catching up with Lost Girl now that season 2 is airing in the US. I never did finish it and since I love it (And Kenzi!!!!, and Dyson!!!!, and Bo, and Hale... but NOT LAUREN) that makes little to no sense. That is nonsensical! Did I tell anyone that I never finished Shameless season 2? I feel really terrible about this since I love those Gallaghers so damn much but Frank was kind of ruining things for me and I just couldn't anymore. I will catch up I promise. It just might take me a little while.
→ The Vampire Diaries: Who am I kidding? The finale is getting its own post. At a later date. ETA: And Hart of Dixie as well.
→ Grey's Anatomy. The unspoilery part of my review was that the finale was anti-climactic and despite all evidence to the contrary didn't even feel like a season finale.
Basically there are two things that are happening with me in this fandom.
Number one is that I want Jackson and April to have all the things. I am really glad that April's still calling him her best friend because it means that next season there is some really great "how do we get out of the friend zone and who falls for who first" kind of stuff that's going to inevitably happen. Oh, and then there will be the equally inevitable heartache, but we'll deal with that later. But right now they're two friends who yes, have seen each other naked, and who are obviously attracted to each other, but they're still friends (and not a couple) which I really love. And I love how Jackson is still so protective of her. I love that they haven't lost that. I mean, the part where he tells her the thought of leaving her was making him physically sick was also super romantic, but I feel like there's time now to work all their feelings out and I am so relieved.
I feel like this conversation with April about her virginity is going to be the last of its kind. She's telling Jackson that she was saving herself and that she's sorry that it didn't work out the way she planned it, but that ultimately she is a changed person now. Because of him. And that's something that makes her happy, but at the same time she still laments that loss of something she used to see as very important in her life. So in my mind, her freak-out over the virginity thing is a closed chapter. (And thank goodness, too. Because it was getting old rather quickly.)
I think the thing this show has done a few times that just made me rage was rushing a couple's love story. That's something I just really can't stand in the least. Dragging things out is irritating as well, but putting people into a relationship without giving them time to have/process feelings is super dull. It seems clear to me that whatever love story April and Jackson will have is not going to be rushed and to me that is awesome.
The second thing? ALEX AND ARIZONA. Okay so maybe it's not cool to ship them or whatever, but I do. Times infinity. Their relationship has been such a beautiful thing to watch unfold. From their first tension-filled interactions to this snarky/love-hate mentor/mentee thing they've got going on. It's glorious. Pretty much. Alex's most important female relationship is with Arizona, his most important relationship at the current moment period, and that makes it really difficult not to ship the hell out of them. I just loved that in this episode he couldn't stop talking about her/thinking about her. He was arguing with her when she wasn't even around! "Your wife is bonkers!" // "Yeah, but she's cute." (And Callie's little remark and his smirk afterward were not helping me much.) And then the thing that killed me was the phone call. The phone call, you guys! He tells her she made him into what he is today and how he has to see if he can make it out there without her guiding him through. Ugh. THEM. If she dies in the season opener, I don't know if I will ever recover. I just know that
slybrunette needs to write me fic over hiatus. I'm putting my foot down.
Some bullet points:
- Lexie's death was anti-climactic and I'm trying not to feel bitter that her own damn sister didn't get to say goodbye to her. (I jumped off the Mark/Lexie train a long time ago.) I understand from
slybrunette that Chyler had asked for her role to be reduced this past season and so this seems like it was very much her decision. Which I'm fine with. I feel like they had run out of things to do with Lexie. But poor Meredith, man. I just... how much more heartache can you take, really?
- Teddy leaving. I'm sorry to say that I only really liked her when there was the Henry storyline. After he died, so did any and all affections I had for her. That being said I really really liked her goodbye with Owen. I don't entirely hate Owen, and I know that's an unpopular opinion. At least with the two people I regularly discuss this show with. But the fact that he will not allow this woman who deserves better put his own well-being ahead of her own? That's admirable. Truly. I don't at all wish for Cristina and Owen to get back together though. I feel like that's a relationship that needs to die. For so many reasons.
- Speaking of Cristina, she was bad-ass in this episode. For realsies.
- Callie Torres, on the other hand, was kick-ass. That scene with her and the snack foods. "Oh boo hoo you failed your boards..." And "You were married? To a man?" Classic. It was pretty much perfection.
- George. *sniffle*
- The Roommates: Alex, Jackson, and April sharing so many (truly funny) scenes this episode gives me hope that they will get a lot of screentime together next season and that we will finally get to see their damn apartment. They're all living with each other and I DEMAND hijinks, okay? And also possibly ot3 sex. (I might also require fic.)

Date: 2012-05-19 08:43 am (UTC)Well, intelligent people.
Maybe they'll introduce time travel next season and it'll turn out that was actually Damon from the future. With partial amnesia. Or something.
Hey, it's more plausible than the actual explanation.

Date: 2012-05-19 05:10 pm (UTC)Indeed this would be more plausible. And for him to quickly accept that Elena =/= Katherine made me cringe.

I was surprised at how I was affected by Little Grey's death and wow, Eric Dane can act -- he doesn't only flash his abs and smile. p.s. Eric Dane looks different now. It's not just the hair -- he looks thinner.

Date: 2012-05-19 09:18 am (UTC)Hear, hear re. Callie and Cristina! I loved that Cris' reaction to her missing shoe started as an almost hysterical mantra and morphed, at the end there, to legitimate excitement that she'd found it! Also, her compassion with Lexie was the best thing about Lexie's death. Also, ALSO, all the things you said about Callie! ALL OF THEM.
And, um, all the things you said about Alex/Arizona too, tbh! Haha! You know what I loved MOST? The fact that, as far as we, the viewers, are concerned, he is the ONLY person that thought to contact ANY of them AT ALL that day. And he was thinking about her constantly. I'm mostly ambivalent about Arizona, and there are some moments she's downright annoyed me (I find her petty and immature on occasion and not in a 'cute' way like we're supposed to), but her more recent relationship with Alex has been awesome, and you're right, she IS the most important female in his life at the moment, and perhaps even the most important PERSON, full stop (eta: just re-read your post and discovered that you already said this! LOL /reading fail).
Ngl, I once wrote Callie/Arizona/Alex smut(ish)... true story..."You were married? To a man?" Favourite line along with "I FOUND IT!" "The first aid kit?" "MY SHOE!" (brb, loling forever).
George. *sniffle* Forever and ever, amen.
