Alright my Killing flisters.

Come commiserate in the comments with me about the finale.

GIFs welcome, and shit.

FYI I'm going to sleep. My brain is still wired from this ep so it'll be hard. But I have to work in the morning. Will respond to everyone tomorrow. And basically THIS SHOW MAN! ♥!

Dude we were right. I'm sorry about Jamie, though :(

Wholly unsatisfied with Linden/Holder resolution. WHOLLY. UNSATISFIED!

I am still processing all my Jamie thoughts.

I WAS RIGHT! It's hard to gloat when it was all so sad though.

Listen, the RESTRAINT with Holder/Linden was practically like foreplay. I mean, the fact that they could BARELY LOOK AT EACH OTHER was like... eating away at my insides and at the same time giving me ALL THE FEELS. And when he shoots Jamie and she IMMEDIATELY GOES TO HIM and puts her hand on his arm. I died. (It was out of shot though. WHY AMC WHY? Don't you know I have important vidding to do?)

I realized you were right at the end of the first act and then I started crying and couldn't stop. It would have been super embarrassing had I not been watching the finale alone in the living room with no lights on like an emo kid. Emotional devastation, I have it. AUNT TERRY. JAIME. ROSIE. Everything hurts.

Then the end happened and Sarah looked so free and I was happy for her, but...HOLDER. I am a mess of emotions right now and I have to go write a review for Girls, but I'm having a hard time thinking about my favorite hipster kids because Holder is all alone and Terry's in jail and fucking Richmond got Ames off...but at least Sarah solved her case and didn't get shot. (My heart momentarily stopped beating when Holder fired his gun because I couldn't tell who had fired the shot and Sarah was standing right there.)

It has to get renewed right? And if it doesn't you'll write a season 3 for us, Y/Y?

If by "season three" you mean a dark romance between an emotionally distant single mom and her comic, yet brooding, former partner. THEN YES. If you expect anything with a plot I'm going to have to rip off another show or maybe a book or two.

My nephew was lurking so I somehow managed to refrain from tears right until the very end with the video but MOSTLY WITH THE HOLDER AND LINDEN STUFF and how she left him and he was all alone and WHO IS GONNA PROTECT HIM NOW? Hahaha. They are each other's back up! You see how this is a problem, right?

At the end I was like "Girl, get your shit and walk away." To Gwen. We never found out if she was pregnant. But damn that whole thing with Richmond at the end just... made me so sad. Lesley was right. Half a second in, and he's protecting the very people that helped to put him in that wheelchair with THEIR LIES.

WHO IS GONNA PROTECT HIM NOW?

EXACTLY. She can't leave him! Watching them separate was heartbreaking. They are too emotionally dependent on one another to break up now, darn it.

Richmond is the actual worst. I've always suspected he was a douche, but I allowed his speechifying to trick me into believing he was descent. But of course not. UGH. I HATE HIM A LOT RIGHT NOW.

If by "season three" you mean a dark romance between an emotionally distant single mom and her comic, yet brooding, former partner. THEN YES.

*nods*

YES, PLEASE. I require no plot. I can barely follow murder mysteries anyway. Just partner make-out times interspersed with family games of Monopoly with Jack are all I need from a hypothetical season three. ;)

I don't mean to just jump into the discussion like a creep, but none of my RL friends/family watch this show (except for my mom and we exhausted our discussion) and I desperately need to see/read/feel other people's reactions to this episode. I posted a pretty lengthy recap on Tumblr, but I'll copy the link if anyone is interested in reading:

I will, I will! All of these post-finale feels have to go somewhere productive otherwise I'll just be that weirdo mumbling about Holder and Linden and their undying, but frustratingly restrained love under her breath all the time and scaring people at the supermarket.

Part of me is glad that the case itself was solved because there needed to be closure on it and not just an endless snake eating itself of who was responsible for Rosie's death. Then there's part of me that wonders where they are going to go if there's a third season. I haven't watched the original version, so I'm not sure how they handled it. I want more of the characters, but without everything having been so wrapped up in the question of "who killed Rosie Larsen?" a thousand pixels wide on the posters. I don't feel like it was about that. The show was more, but it was bottled and sold as something else.

There are no emotions that I can express without a gif.

Thank you for linking to your recap. It was like watching the ep without having to watch the ep. I didn't realize it but I had been waiting a year for this. It was good to get some closure on Rosie. I really did need to know.

Let me start by saying that if I was one of those people who was invested in the murder mystery plot-line, I would probably hate this show by now. Because I really think the writers made a lot of mistakes in their attempts to stretch out this mystery. I think if they'd just wrapped it up several episodes earlier and used the second half of season 2 to launch a new case, it would've been less illogical in parts. But, as I am someone who's in it for the characters and the UNBELIEVABLE ACTING, I was mostly happy with the finale and the season in general.

Can we talk about Jamie Anne Allman for a minute? And by talk, I mean MARVEL at her performance throughout this series. I just...I don't know if she was told from the beginning that Terry was complicit in Rosie's death or she's just a smart cookie who realized it was a possibility but either way, I feel like she really laid the groundwork for the reveal, right from the start. There was always something...idk...guilty about Terry. Some people chalked that up to the Beau Soleli thing but I never bought that. And there was this sort of...darkness?...hanging over her? Like, I think we were meant to see her as a very haunted and damaged person right from the start. Again, whether that was to set up the ultimate reveal or just plant suspicion, who knows but I think it really worked to make Terry a very believable murderer. Now the actual killing went a lot differently than I expected but I think it was better than I'd imagined? Like, I LOVELOVELOVE the idea that Terry committed cold-blooded, heat-of-the-moment murder without really blinking...because she didn't know it was Rosie in the car. SHE DIDN'T KNOW! And yet, she heard this girl screaming for her life and didn't flinch. TERRY, HOW ARE YOU SO TWISTEDLY SPECTACULAR?! I just...we should really loathe this woman for killing her niece and yet...she gives me ALL THE FEELINGS. Essentially, Jamie Anne Allman is spectacular and needs all the awards.

Jamie on the other hand...I adore Eric Ladin but I really don't think there was much to point at Jamie being the killer until these last two/three episodes. Maybe that was the point and you really weren't supposed to expect him but...idk...it just didn't work for me. Despite Eric's awesomeness at playing Jamie's downright insanity in this last episode, I still can't buy that he was capable of chasing down this girl and beating her nearly to death. Yes, he's ambitious. Yes, he'll bend and break and run right over the rules to get ahead in the political arena but I don't think that equates being willing to murder an innocent kid.

Then again, I feel like Jamie was kind of chosen at random to be the chaser-through-the-woods? Maybe the wasn't the case and they knew from the start but merely executed it poorly but Jamie being the guilty party just didn't fly for me. I also wasn't thrilled that it was a mostly political reason. Yes, they'd been leading that way all season but I was hoping there would be a last-minute twist that the murder was more personal. Like Ames killing Rosie so she wouldn't tell anyone about his affair with Terry or his plans to leave his wife and screw her out of her own company.

But in the end, it was all about the acting for me. And all the actors in this show were really incredible. Obviously Mireille Enos and Joel Kinnaman stole it all in the end, but Michelle Forbes and Brent Sexton were just as awesome. And I kinda want all the post-season 2 Holder/Linden fic EVER. Mostly about her coming back to work and how their dynamic shifts now that they're having all the sex ever and she's basically moved in with him even though neither of them wants to admit that. Because...yeah...that's absolutely what happens, in my mind.

I know, right?

"Keep in touch."

The FUCK was that?!

It's really incredibly sad for me that their most touching moment in the whole ep was when Holder walked into the dark room, turned on the light, saw Linden sitting there, then turned the light back off and did the same. I expected some emotional revelation between them then, but...nothing.

I also expected her to somehow address the fact that OH HE BASICALLY SAVED HER FREAKING LIFE WHEN HE SHOT JAMIE. That's neither here nor there, I guess.

I'm going to go all AV Club here and say it: "Fuck you, The Killing."

I still love it til the end, though. Season 3, please?

Yes, more of that damned RESTRAINT.

I was so happy with how Kinnaman played the shooting scene, though. I'm glad he didn't do the cliche, wild-eyed, "Oh my God, did that just happen?" face and get all trembly. If he had one thing, it was clarity of purpose, and there was no way he was going to feel anything but justified in firing that shot.

He's not just a good cop...he's a great cop. I NEED MORE.

Jamie Anne Allman was so fucking flawless in her scenes. My heart was pounding when they panned the camera back through the hallway and into Rosie's room, where we see her sitting on her bed and you just KNOW that this is, this is when everything is going to come together. Ugh.

I think I did read somewhere that Veena Sud knew from the beginning who the killer was going to be (whether she just meant Terry alone or if she also knew Jamie would be in on it, I'm not sure) and she told Jamie Anne Allman a few episodes before the finale that she was the killer. She was the only one who knew, Veena hadn't told any of the cast members yet, so I think everybody else found out when they started shooting the finale. Which just proves how fabulous Jamie Anne Allman was in this last episode, and during the whole series. It never seemed illogical that she would be the killer because of how she presented the character from the start, and as heartbreaking as it was, it made sense.

Now I need sexytiems for Holder and Linden until we get word that a season three is in the works because please do not leave us like this.

I cannot imagine what you are feeling right now. Actually, when I was watching it and it was running with Jamie, I was just... "I will not be satisfied unless it is Terry. I will not!" Fortunately, the show delivered :) Except also D: because Jamie! And Terry! And Mitch! And Linden/Holder! In the dark! Honestly that might have been my favorite part.

I have faith that the third season will work all that out in a satisfying way. But yeah, now that we've solved this mystery it does feel kind of like "what happens now?"

Yeah the press in season one was slightly unfortunate. To say the least.

There is really only one part of the murder mystery that doesn't add up for me and that's the cover-up at the lab with the backpack. Gil swiping the evidence makes sense because he was working with the mayor and trying to cover up the faked photo. But the rest of it? I need to re-watch.

She was so brilliant. In the finale and in the entire series. Really? Oh my god. The sound of her sobs. They're just damn painful! --- THIS. SO MUCH.

I think Jamie had plenty of suspicion around him, even though I never personally bought into it, but I think it worked for me in a way that I can justify it in my brain. A plus B plus... it makes sense. But I had grown to love him so much that it's hard for me to accept it. Really.

FIC IS GOOD.

I feel like in some shows, showrunners try and say "oh we knew all along" but usually there are major hints that disprove that. But with the killing i honestly don't think that you could go back through and not see that they were very deliberate with pretty much everything. They were very careful. They had to know. At least the basic ending.

Also? YES. I'm right there with you. (On the fic and the season three thing.)

I always stockpile the episodes and watch them the week before the finale, so I have a long wait.
