Alright my Killing flisters.
Come commiserate in the comments with me about the finale.
GIFs welcome, and shit.
FYI I'm going to sleep. My brain is still wired from this ep so it'll be hard. But I have to work in the morning. Will respond to everyone tomorrow. And basically THIS SHOW MAN! ♥!

Date: 2012-06-18 05:30 am (UTC)Can we talk about Jamie Anne Allman for a minute? And by talk, I mean MARVEL at her performance throughout this series. I just...I don't know if she was told from the beginning that Terry was complicit in Rosie's death or she's just a smart cookie who realized it was a possibility but either way, I feel like she really laid the groundwork for the reveal, right from the start. There was always something...idk...guilty about Terry. Some people chalked that up to the Beau Soleli thing but I never bought that. And there was this sort of...darkness?...hanging over her? Like, I think we were meant to see her as a very haunted and damaged person right from the start. Again, whether that was to set up the ultimate reveal or just plant suspicion, who knows but I think it really worked to make Terry a very believable murderer. Now the actual killing went a lot differently than I expected but I think it was better than I'd imagined? Like, I LOVELOVELOVE the idea that Terry committed cold-blooded, heat-of-the-moment murder without really blinking...because she didn't know it was Rosie in the car. SHE DIDN'T KNOW! And yet, she heard this girl screaming for her life and didn't flinch. TERRY, HOW ARE YOU SO TWISTEDLY SPECTACULAR?! I just...we should really loathe this woman for killing her niece and yet...she gives me ALL THE FEELINGS. Essentially, Jamie Anne Allman is spectacular and needs all the awards.
Jamie on the other hand...I adore Eric Ladin but I really don't think there was much to point at Jamie being the killer until these last two/three episodes. Maybe that was the point and you really weren't supposed to expect him but...idk...it just didn't work for me. Despite Eric's awesomeness at playing Jamie's downright insanity in this last episode, I still can't buy that he was capable of chasing down this girl and beating her nearly to death. Yes, he's ambitious. Yes, he'll bend and break and run right over the rules to get ahead in the political arena but I don't think that equates being willing to murder an innocent kid.
Then again, I feel like Jamie was kind of chosen at random to be the chaser-through-the-woods? Maybe the wasn't the case and they knew from the start but merely executed it poorly but Jamie being the guilty party just didn't fly for me. I also wasn't thrilled that it was a mostly political reason. Yes, they'd been leading that way all season but I was hoping there would be a last-minute twist that the murder was more personal. Like Ames killing Rosie so she wouldn't tell anyone about his affair with Terry or his plans to leave his wife and screw her out of her own company.
But in the end, it was all about the acting for me. And all the actors in this show were really incredible. Obviously Mireille Enos and Joel Kinnaman stole it all in the end, but Michelle Forbes and Brent Sexton were just as awesome. And I kinda want all the post-season 2 Holder/Linden fic EVER. Mostly about her coming back to work and how their dynamic shifts now that they're having all the sex ever and she's basically moved in with him even though neither of them wants to admit that. Because...yeah...that's absolutely what happens, in my mind.

Date: 2012-06-18 07:25 pm (UTC)I think I did read somewhere that Veena Sud knew from the beginning who the killer was going to be (whether she just meant Terry alone or if she also knew Jamie would be in on it, I'm not sure) and she told Jamie Anne Allman a few episodes before the finale that she was the killer. She was the only one who knew, Veena hadn't told any of the cast members yet, so I think everybody else found out when they started shooting the finale. Which just proves how fabulous Jamie Anne Allman was in this last episode, and during the whole series. It never seemed illogical that she would be the killer because of how she presented the character from the start, and as heartbreaking as it was, it made sense.
Now I need sexytiems for Holder and Linden until we get word that a season three is in the works because please do not leave us like this.

Date: 2012-06-21 03:36 am (UTC)She was so brilliant. In the finale and in the entire series. Really? Oh my god. The sound of her sobs. They're just damn painful! --- THIS. SO MUCH.
I think Jamie had plenty of suspicion around him, even though I never personally bought into it, but I think it worked for me in a way that I can justify it in my brain. A plus B plus... it makes sense. But I had grown to love him so much that it's hard for me to accept it. Really.
FIC IS GOOD.
