the pied piper of seattle
Jun. 17th, 2013 11:37 amTwitch and Bullet
It's sorta creepy that there's an unspoken rape-bond between Twitch and Bullet now. Her following him around, knowing his drug history, and trying to help him when he was losing his shit definitely indicates that there's more of a history between them than we were led to believe in the first episodes. This is a group of kids who were friends, and who have taken care of each other, even if they don't particularly like each other. Which sort of brings more of a "familial" feel to the street kids' story, which I like. Even though I'm not sure it was necessary for Lyric to stradle an injured Twitch while Bullet looked on. I mean... ow? (Both for Bullet and Twitch, because that couldn't have been comfortable either physically or emotionally.) My mom was curious about the parole officer, who he is and what's he got to do with the overall story, but I don't have any suspicions about him other than thinking he's a creepy fucking rapist asshole who's abusing his power in a major way. But as for the case I think he's unrelated.
Ray Seward
All the Ray feels, all the time. Loved him bonding with Alton and the truths that came out during their conversations. I mean, we basically know that Ray Seward is not guilty now, right? Right? Sarsgaard continues to be amazing and his delivery of "They won a long time ago," hit just as hard as "I don't have a son." Which, please keep giving him lines like this. And please let him have more scenes with Linden, because I enjoyed that a lot. I think if he had a scene with Holder I just might explode from excitement.
Goldie
No real thoughts about this but his Pied Piper line is going to stick for sure.
Bullet and Holder
God, I love them. Can Holder adopt her? Please? I love that he told her to wait there, after realizing that telling her to "go home" was pointless (and a little cruel) and that she did. She waited. And fell asleep. And he found her and tried to give her carrots and they bonded over stupid animal facts and... yeah, I am loving their dynamic. Also, now that she's divulged her boarding school history, unless it was a sarcastic remark, it definitely makes me wonder about Bullet's parents and where are they and why Bullet left home. One could hazard a guess that they rejected her because of who she is, her sexuality, her dress, etc. And I can't help but hope for a happy ending for her. But give her more scenes with Holder first.
Reddick
I'd say he needs to STFU but I think Linden pretty much shut that down. With her "Twenty-three years of experience and all you are is in the way." Burn! It was glorious but it seriously stinks that it had to come to that. But maybe that's what they needed to change the dynamic between them. To get Holder and Linden back on the same team. How uncomfortable for Holder though. Reddick expecting Holder to back him up, but he won't, and he won't defend Linden except with his silence. And Linden knowing that if Reddick's saying this garbage to her face that he's definitely said this stuff behind her back to Holder. Just... ugh. He doesn't need lessons on how to make people feel uncomfortable. He holds top honors in that.
Joe Mills
Last week I hypothesized that Joe Mills was in some way related to Kallie. I couldn't figure out why he was this seemingly harmless john who shares food and cares about the kids (in a creeper sort of way), and is a regular paying customer, would be someone she'd be shying away from. Even Bullet seemed to find him harmless, which says a lot to me. So it's not surprising that he turned out to be her mother's boyfriend. Although, he's got a truck in addition to his cab. And why would she agree to go with him to the motel for any reason knowing he's sleeping with her mom, and when the two of them had fought just a day or so before? Doesn't make sense to me. Maybe it's not his voice on the video?
The Mayor
Richmond got a mention!
Linden and Holder
Saved the best for last but I don't know how to articulate my thoughts and feelings on this. Other than to say that I am so beside myself with their scenes and how Holder followed her out and insisted he drive. The knowledge that Holder is also dating someone he works with (if indirectly) and he asked her if she was jealous and the little smiles and the proximity! You guys! THE PROXIMITY! The chemistry and the way they work together and how they're going to solve the hell out of this case. And yeah. I told you this would be incoherent. Don't mind me. I'll just be babbling over in the corner.

Date: 2013-06-17 05:39 pm (UTC)Lyric basically forgot Bullet was even there or didn't care to remember. Either way, ouch.
As soon as anyone does something creepy, she declares them to be the killer. So when the parole officer got creepy, she said it was him. It took her until this episode to realize Ray isn't 100% guilty. It's like watching with a cute puppy.
The Ray and Alton dynamic makes me think of a relationship in Rectify. It's like Ray and Alton are on their way to developing the same bond as two characters on that show. I'd imagine that if there's limited available friendship opportunity and chances for conversation, you take what you can get. Like talking back just so a guard would beat you because it's something.
Dude, Goldie came up with a nice turn of phrase. Almost makes me wonder if someone fed him that line or if I'm not giving him enough credit. That actor has "child molester face" and I can only remember the movies where he's creepy as shit.
When Holder was munching on carrots and talking to Bullet I wanted him to become her guardian or something with the power of a thousand suns, but it would never happen. He has good intentions, which made the "go home" bit hurt. I laughed because he told her to stay in the room alone with tons of equipment. From the outside, that was a bad idea.
Reddick is TEH WERST. I like watching Holder's face whenever Reddick and Linden go at it.
The people on this show cannot hide it when they are or have been sleeping together. They stand too close to each other and touch each other too much. OMG, if you touch the small of someone's back it is a neon sign that you are banging.

Date: 2013-06-17 10:33 pm (UTC)Wait, my mom? Your mom? Who's the cute puppy? LOL.
I haven't seen Rectify. Or even heard of it to be honest. Haha. I love how loyal they both became in such a short amount of time. First, it proves that Ray has a heart, or at least that he's not keen on watching someone be tortured just to stick it to the guards. But what I really loved about that moment was Alton saying he could have taken more. I don't think that scene would have played the same if Alton and Ray were still at odds and hadn't made friends. I think it says a lot, like what you were saying, about the value of friendship, any kind you can get, in a place like that.
I know, that actor just unfortunately gives you the creeps right off the bat. He actually reminds me a lot of Belko. And they both have stupid names. Haha.
Yes, I totally agree and you're right it would never happen. Sadly. I keep getting like, a John Luther and Jenny vibe off of them in a small way. Which, I freaking LOVED that dynamic. Haha yeah you're right. But I'm guessing there were other officers present.
Oh man Holder's face during the Reddick smackdown! He was only just barely keeping it together. ONLY JUST. I swear I thought he was going to laugh out loud. That would have made me feel almost bad for Reddick. (Almost!)
I need all these "we are banging" innuendos to start happening with Linden and Holder? Is that too much to ask? TOO BAD.

Date: 2013-06-20 01:31 am (UTC)Rectify is a small little show that a dozen people watch. It's a quiet little terrifying thing.
Bullet and Holder are my favorite scenes right now. Their dynamic is awesome.
Everyone is banging.

Date: 2013-06-17 10:12 pm (UTC)Also I loved how badass they both were during the raid at the hotel, they work so well together and it's so beautiful to watch, honestly I'd watch 10 seasons of the Linden and Holder show. AHHH SO HAPPY THEY'RE BACK
And Bullet and Holder! When she said her body is her temple I almost died. I really don't want anything (more) to happen to her :(

Date: 2013-06-17 10:38 pm (UTC)I need to re-watched this episode to bask in the glory of them during the raid at the hotel and I TOO WOULD WATCH 10 SEASONS OF LINDEN AND HOLDER!
Hahaha I know! I loved that she was repeating his lines to him. I don't even know if it was intentional or not, haha.

Date: 2013-06-19 05:16 pm (UTC)The scene with Bullet and Holder and the carrots was just, just...MY HEART. He has this caretaker side of him that I don't think a lot of people get to see, and it's just wonderful. I just need Bullet to stay safe for the rest of the season okay?? Okay.
Linden was AMAZING in her smackdown against Riddick. It really really needed to be said, and Holder wasn't going to say it. I thought it was pretty surprising how silent he managed to stay during that scene (but maybe that's just a testament to how much he's grown up), and him coming out to Linden to go with her was just perfect. It's definitely going to cause a rift between Riddick and Holder&Linden, but I'm excited to see that play out. :D
Hehe, Holder's hot girlfriend. It kinda seems like one of those situations where everyone knew but Linden, lol. And Holder's "You jealous?" and the little smirking the two of them did and OMG PLEASE. They are perfect. Buuut, it kind of makes me nervous, only because this season Holder really has his life together, and wants to make sergeant, and I'm nervous that it's going to come crashing down around him as this case goes on and DO NOT WANT.
Okay, Seward. Am I the only one not convinced that he's totally innocent? He definitely has some serious mental problems and he creeps me right the fuck out, but besides all that, I do think he killed his wife? I have this theory that he had an accomplice who took her ring, and has been out doing these murders, but Seward did in fact kill his wife (just not the rest of the girls, obviously). Maybe he found out she was a prostitute, and that's why he and the accomplice target prostitutes? Idk, I'm just looking forward to seeing more pieces so of the puzzle fit together.

Date: 2013-06-21 02:02 pm (UTC)I love that they totally butted heads at the beginning but now she's finding in him someone she can trust... at least a little bit. It's beautiful to watch.
Him being completely quiet throughout that whole scene was almost the best thing about it. (Well, Linden's smack-down was obviously the best, so second-best.) I think it says a lot that he went out there with her afterward. He chose her. (My heart!)
OMG the smirking. I couldn't even contain myself at that, haha. I was just beside myself. I hope it doesn't come crashing down. But if it does, Sarah Linden and her tiny self will be there to sheild him.
You might actually be the only one convinced that he's not totally innocent of that crime. If ANYTHING AT ALL is true, I am going to assume that he found out she was there in that room, dead, and that Adrian was with her, but he left him there anyway. Which would explain his massive MASSIVE Adrian guilt. (I feel like I'm remembering correctly that either he was abusive or that they fought a lot? I remember Linden saying something like the neighbors were used to the yelling or something so why would Seward go out the window?)
