So I keep seeing article after article about this so-called controversy over Starbucks cups removing the decorations from their red cups, but I haven't actually found an internet human (or robot?) that is actually angry about the cups. Except the guy in the video. So is there a controversy for real or is this all just made up/an overreaction about one viral video and the nutcase it stars. Instead of all the articles saying "Christians" are mad about the cups, it should say "this one crazy guy" is mad about the cups. Maybe there are other people who are mad and I'm not seeing it because I am not on facebook and so I don't have to be subjected to the idiocy? If that's the only thing shielding me from this, then I guess deleting my FB account was the smartest thing I ever did.

ETA: Every single person that's commented to this post so far has used a starbucks icon. As a non-coffee drinker, this is completely hilarious and utterly baffling to me. Haha. That being said, if you have a starbucks/coffee icon, definitely use it to respond to this post.

It is SO WEIRD. I don't get it. The cups are still red and still Holiday... why do some snowflakes and ice skates make them more Christian?

For the record, I do not have one friend who has said they have a problem, even on FB.

PEOPLE ARE WEIRD

Usually when I see an article and think, "wait, people can't REALLY be doing that/saying that?!?!" I scroll down to the comments to find hundreds of comments with people proving me wrong. This time, it seems like nobody is actually offended by this except that one guy. I dunno. Not so much a hoax as... over-stating things a bit!

I'm annoyed about it. Not for a religious reason (LOL, what? IDGI.) but because I think this year's design is boring and uninventive. I've been collecting the annual Christmas mugs since 2008 or so, but this year's version is so bland I'm seriously considering not buying one.

Haha, yeah I don't blame you. The cups are pretty compared to regular starbucks cups, but if you're collecting them for the designs, and the design is: RED -- I can see why you might be bummed out by it! LOL.

NGL, I'm also kind of peeved that some designer probably got paid several thousand dollars (if not more) for the innovative 'minimalist' design when an 8-year-old with a box of crayons could have done the same. (And I actually LIKE minimalism, normally. But this just seems lazy.)

True, true. I'd like to be that designer though... lol

I'm just happy its Red Cup time, lol. I love peppermint mochas. And really, its summer here anyway, so snowflakes make no sense at all. Especially in relation to christians...

Yeah, I mean, I thought it was always pretty secular. But as I don't really drink coffee and haven't been paying attention for the past decade, I don't actually know. It appears there are very few people ACTUALLY up in arms over these cups. Like, I GET that crazy people, be crazy. But in this instance, it just doesn't seem like there's really that much of an outrage.
