Is anybody else super disappointed about SYTYCD? I am still gonna watch, but I'm just so sad about the new format because it means the old show I loved is pretty much dead. This is a new show. I'll take what I can get, but am still totally bummed.

I'm torn - I think it's cute! The kid dancers are amazing! But you're right, it's going to be a totally different show. It could go back next year?

It is cute, but it's just not the same show. I'm kind of annoyed because my roommate basically rolled her eyes when I tried to get her to watch it last year. Now she's hypnotized by the cute kids and LOVES this show. I want the show to stay on because I love it, but I want to go back to the adult format next season! If people eat up these kiddos like she is, it will NEVER go back to the adult version.

HUGE disappointment. I didn't even watch past the first audition.

I'm feeling like this will be their last season and they're grasping at straws trying to find a new format that will pull ratings.

LOL that was like a million years ago. He's the SYTYCD darling. Not "Winning" doesn't mean you don't REALLY win. You should have kept watching. He is a regular choreographer, was a coach last season, and is there all the time it seems. Sometimes fills in for injured dancers too. (But because he's a choreographer, he doesn't really make "all star" appearances that I can recall.)

They have changed the format to be a competition for 8-13 year olds.

I've watched on and off but not as avid as that one. I think that season broke me because I hated whatshisface...ah, Benjie. Anyway, I think the last time I looked up a dancer was the tap dancer who won (He's from the Brit version oop) and Nico Archambault but he's from Canada so that doesn't count lol

This comment is a month late. I'm still watching this season but it's hard because it's kind of terrible but still good. Like SYTYCD just can't produce bad content. Just not possible. But watching the wee ones dance is just not nearly as fulfilling. Plus the first week they paired them with the coaches, so it was sort of awkward in parts.

The thing that has gotten really bad about this show is the judges. Paula Abdul and Jason Derulo are just insufferable bores. I really miss Mary and the guest judges, even the celebrity guest judges (sometimes the celeb judges were bad, but sometimes they were outstanding Kristen Chenoweth, Christina Applegate, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, etc.) You haven't watched since the second season so I'm sure you have no idea what I'm talking about because they've changed the format up so many times, lol.

I saw some performances when they started with the male and female winners. I saw some with the male ballet dancer winner (not sure if they were the same season). I was not that impressed -- I mean, yay, ballet but I don't know; I think they were pushing for a ballet dancer to win.

Do you mean Eliana? I remember really liking her but I don't think it was my favorite season. They've had ups and downs but for me it's been consistently good. I really hope they don't kill the show by trying this kid thing. If they never go back to the "adult" version of the show for me it won't be the same show. I want the REAL show back.

Okay no you said MALE ballet dancer. I don't remember them having a male ballet winner. I may just have a terrible memory, lol. The only person I can think of is Ricky and he was contemporary (and I could not stand him!)

That's so funny, Chehon won the same year that Eliana did. I don't know WHY I only remembered her. I remember him now that I've looked it up. I guess he wasn't that memorable? IDK.

The first time I saw Chehon, he was so tall. You could see that his height was a disadvantage in some of the dances.

I never really noticed that. I feel like everyone looks short next to Cat and her heels. I do notice when a contestant is VERY short. But rarely do I notice the tall ones. Only Twitch and Aaron (tapper).
