When I realize that Supernatural is going into it's 12th season, and that I quit watching after season 3 (mentally quit after season 2), it makes me wonder if I should go back and catch up. It also makes me feel really old. REALLY old.

I feel the same way about Grey's Anatomy. 12 seasons? WTF???

I emotionally gave up when Shonda screwed TR & Katy with Gizzie. I think I gave up around 6/7 although I watched when some faves left for good.

I didn't dislike that storyline as much as other people seemed to.

I think part of it was her vindictiveness in screwing up their characters -- TR was bitter about it when he left. And while I thought Katy brought most of what happened to her on herself, she was right about the storylines being subpar that year when she didn't submit a reel for the emmys.

After that whole thing, my impression of both the actors in question was that they were both acting like brats. It may not be true. And it is possible that Shonda was purposefully sabotaging them, but I don't think any person would do that at the expense of their own show. I kind of shipped it, I'll admit. So I don't understand the vitriol surrounding that particular pairing.

Just recently she admitted in an interview that she sabotages characters of people she doesn't like -- this was most likely about Patrick but this is kinda indicative of her character. I mean, it's her right, it's her show but still.

p.s. It wasn't really about TR being a brat. He alluded to being promised something and being strung along until he just had enough.

When I stop and think about how the show USED to be, I get that way with Grey's too. But I actually still watch it. I did quit around s3 for about a season and a half, and I've NEVER gone back and watched all the episodes I missed. Maybe one day. lol.

My personal favorite season is 4. Eric Kripke planned it to be for 5 seasons, and it actually has an interesting season/series ender if they didn't renew it then.

Definitely watch 4 and if you still like it, watch 5. Then stop. For God's sake, stop.

And try to watch 'The French Mistake' that was hilarious and their 100th episode, 'Fan Fiction.'

When season 4 came around and I heard through the fandom grapevine that the show became very religious and heaven/hell centric (instead of urban legend/ghost story) -- then I was glad I had quit. I also never liked the idea of castiel as a character, even though I've only seen one or two clips of him in action. I dunno! Maybe I will watch 4&5. Who knows.

Imagine how old I feel considering I watched it then and continue to do so. (The show's been with me longer than any job or relationship I've had. lol)

Hahaha, this is so true. I still watch Grey's which was pointed out to me in this thread that it's been around just as long. (Or longer-ish?)
