→ Could someone please explain, without using illustrative icons, the icons people are using with red scribbles around the mouth, black scribbles around the eyes, and the words "ha ha ha" scribbled somewhere on the icon. I'm not getting it and they are seriously fugly. (Thank you
elise_509!)
→ I, ahem, obtained She & Him's Volume One yesterday. First listen? It's super cute. Zooey's voice is adorable and like
dayln03 said, some of the tracks remind me of Pushing Daisies. God, I love that show. I want it on DVD now but it doesn't come out until September? Boo. /off topic
Speaking of Zooey's voice. Does anybody remember the Sundance awards one year she and Jake Gyllenhaal sung a really tasteless but also awesome opening song? Babies in trashcans or something? I would love to see that again, even if it meant that it would prove to be less awesome than I remember.
→ Also obtained Coldplay's Viva la Vida. I'm really really liking a lot of these tracks. Then again I always like their stuff. But I find this especially catchy and happy inducing. Maybe it really will bring about world peace? Yeah, that's what happens when you read Spin magazine at work.
→ Passchendaele. I want to see it. Paul Gross looking better than ever? Caroline Dhavernas looking like she's doing a wonderful job in a role that looks light years away from Jaye? What is not to like?

Now I'm going to check out those tickets to get to their show this fall... <3 I've been a fan since their start... and I'm so glad to know that the new album sounds great! <3

Date: 2008-06-24 07:01 pm (UTC)I would say definitely good, upon first listen? Absolutely recommended. Hehe.

Date: 2008-06-24 07:13 pm (UTC)I must stay I sort of stuck at how strange it was to hear Caroline speaking in English. I haven't seen her stuff...
movie looks interesting though. pretty sure I'll be dragged to it ;) (judging by the "when is it due? when?")

Date: 2008-06-24 07:18 pm (UTC)She & Him songs are lovely. They always make me feel happy. (btw, there's a bit of the song you were talking about).
some of the tracks remind me of Pushing Daisies. Ha! I said a while ago that Zooey would have been a much better Chuck than Anna Friel.
I'm considering getting Viva La Vida at work (with my discount) but I'm so un-used to... like, paying for music.
Ooo, that movie looks good! A bit like Atonement, only better. Probably wouldn't get released here in the states though, huh? Sadness. But War! And Canadians! And Caroline! Win!

Date: 2008-06-24 08:03 pm (UTC)Oh thank you for hunting down that clip, I'll have to watch it when I get home. If only it had the whole thing on it! I noticed it's cut very short!
Ah, everything evil starts at ONTD. I should have guessed!
I dunno I really, really, like Anna's portrayal of Chuck but I think Zooey would do a phenominal job with her too. Zooey has long been one of my favorites. She's stinkin' cute! And I'm really liking this album! It's definitely happy!

Date: 2008-06-24 08:11 pm (UTC)Yep, it's cut short, but maybe if you hunt around some more the longer version may be up somewehre. I dunno, sorry.
See, I had this all worked out in my head. Zooey should have gone to be Chuck and then Caroline Dhavernas should have been in Tin Man (can you imagine? Zooey's delightful whimsy with her dash of morbidity in PD and CD's sharp wit in Tin Man). And Anna Friel could go back to being British. See, it all works out perfectly.

Date: 2008-06-24 08:14 pm (UTC)Oh no, don't say sorry. I've searched and searched for that thing in the past and hadn't been able to find even a mention of it let alone a clip. This is very good!

Looks like it's going to be good though. The movie, I mean, not the onslaught of ugly icons.

Date: 2008-06-24 07:53 pm (UTC)[There's another great little film with Anna Friel about British war brides shipped to Canada during WWII called The War Bride but in America it's called Love and War). Very fun stuff.]
Although I'm a bit confounded by them claiming that the Germans called them "stormtroopers" when in fact that was a key term applied to the German forces in WWI as well as WWII. So whatevs, Canada. *raises eyebrow*
Anyway can't wait for this thing.

Date: 2008-06-24 08:06 pm (UTC)I really can't wait to see that. Is that true? Hmmm... so much for historical accuracy! Maybe the Canadians were called that second? LOL.
Yeah I can't wait either. Should be interesting! Yay for Paul Gross and his awesomely motivated ass.

Date: 2008-06-24 08:14 pm (UTC)Yeah I think he glorified the Canucks a wee bit. ;) But it's all right, it's his film.

Date: 2008-06-24 08:18 pm (UTC)They want Americans to confuse film with IN Love and War cuz Sandra Bullock is in it. Or something. Maybe not. :P → OMG I totally don't even really remember what happened in that movie other than she was in it... must have been very memorable.
And really how often do the Canucks get glorified? It's their time. LOL.

Nice choice of music! ;)
