Too bad I haven't made a video since March! MARCH. I can't believe it's been so long.

Something I've noticed about the Olympics: the United States wins a lot of medals. Okay, duh. But I've been reading through my flist and as a multi-cultural bunch, it's so wonderful to see different perspectives on the games from people all around the world. In the U.S. our viewpoint is completely reversed. It seems that we simply expect to win gold and a lot of it. And because of that, in a big way, each medal earned is quickly forgotten.

I'm not that much of a sports fan to begin with, so I haven't been paying close attention. But throughout the games, the few times I've had a chance to watch, I tend to find myself rooting for the "other guy." I do find the games inspiring and I am proud of my country when we do well, but maybe I'm just a sucker for the underdog. For example? I really really wanted somebody to upset Michael Phelps. I mean, could you imagine the kind of local hero that guy would become? The guy who beat the seemingly unbeatable guy? It would be epic.

A:: 30% less plastic. (But wouldn't that just be an eco-bottle? How can something be eco-shaped? I want answers, Deer Park!)

Yayyy pretty vid page! Love it *is super jealous* :D

Michael Phelps is like the kid at daycare who hogs all the toys! Share the gold Michael! Let someone else win one! Geesh

Hmmm you should see if there's any eco-shaped egg molds to go with your bento!

ps. MAKE A VID!

Well yay, that's good. I'm not begrudging him, I just think it would be cool if something... well... something we didn't already expect happened. It's kind of anti-climactic when the thing you expect to happen happens. Like "oh well I knew it all along." Hahaha.

OH MY GOD I WAS THINKING THE EXACT SAME THING.

And it's not like I don't want every athlete, including Phelps, to do well. I just... you know... it's the whole rooting for the underdog thing. Haha. I'm hopeless.

I was doing the same thing with Misty May and Walsh on beach volleyball. They haven't lost a game in a year, and when the Belgians started fighting back they were all "omgz WHAT DO WE DO? We actually have to work for this one?" *facepalm* Love of country aside, I really wanted them to lose.

See man, it's those kind of underdog stories that give me butterflies. When Goliath beats David, I just feel bored.

Oh, that would be so much fun!
But hey, the guy's good.
Although my friends and I are starting to think that he's not from US, but actually from Atlantis (the island, not the space city :P). He's part fish!

Yeah he is really good. I saw one of the US Basketball team members say that they should check Michael Phelps for GILLS! Haha. I agree.

it actually bugs me that we win so many medals. we just don't care. and we win because we're rich.
it makes it hard for me to watch the olympics, actually.
