I'm pretty notorious for having the least popular opinions you can have in fandom. I'm not sure why. And it's not as though I'm trying, it just is, you know? It would be far easier for me if this weren't the case. I am this way because Jacob made me this way, by the way.

PROOF

→ I can't bring myself to write and [generally] don't desire to read 80-90% of canon pairings. It's a disease. Which may or may not be contagious. *coughs on you*

I can't help it that I chronically multi-ship. My motto? Make me believe. That is all I ask. [I'm not sure if that part is terribly unpopular.]

→ [I often still enjoy the canon representations of the pairings that I don't read/write in fic.]

→ We've discussed my relationship with Juliet from Lost, yes? Everyone loves her. Me, not so much. [I also had major issues with Charlie, Ben, and Locke.]

→ The same goes for Eric from True Blood. And the Sookie Stackhouse book series. And I'm on book four. I'm pretty sure he's the most popular character next to Sookie herself.

→ Everyone seems to be really liking Glee. Whereas I watched the first half-hour the other day and quit halfway through, call it lack of sleep mixed with lack of interest. Maybe the 2nd half makes up for it?

→ If my phone hadn't died I'd still be voting for Kris Allen. Have I mentioned I don't actually watch the show?

→ I prefer Ronon/Sheppard to McShep. [But I still like McShep!]

→ Misha Collins kind of gives me the heebs. Fine, I said it! [Feel free to use icons of him when you respond to this post, Dayl.]

→ I am sure there's more I can't think of at the moment. How does one pick examples from their perpetual state of being? It all just runs together. I'm damn contrary, okay?

Re Glee: I think the Pilot suffered from some lack of direction, but for serious, the last 5 minutes pretty much makes up for that.

See, this is what I am thinking. I will definitely get to that second half. Maybe not tonight! But sometime this week.

I agree with MOST of this :D
It's just funner to have a variety of ships. It's fun to experiment and like you said, make it believable. I'm definitely with you on that

And Eric, meh. And Juliet ugh.

Awwwww Ronon and Sheppard ♥ ♥

*USES MY HAPPY HAPPY MISHA ICON BECAUSE YOU SAID I COULDDDD*

Yeah, me too, re: canon pairings, but then, slasher here, so that's no surprise. Is disinterest in canon pairings rare among het readers/writers? Because it's kind of de rigeur for slashers, natch.

I don't watch SGA but I can't see why anyone wouldn't want to slash Ronon. He's gorgeous!

Misha is ♥LOVE♥!! The more you know, the more you love him - clearly you've not exposed yourself enough to the sparkly fabulousness that is Misha Collins! Resistance is futile!

Gotta agree with you 100% on that first one.

I think disinterest in canon pairings is more rare (especially if you're looking outside of livejournal.) That doesn't mean that those readers/writers of canon pairings aren't interested in other pairings in addition to that. (Which is what I meant when I said that part probably wasn't that unpopular, I should edit to be more clear.)

I get the feeling a lot of fans watch the show for certain canon pairings and that's the reason they'll start to participate in a particular fandom in the first place. Obviously, this isn't true with most slashers. I have written a little slash but am more comfortable writing het. I read both slash and het so I guess I kind of forgot about your poor slashers. *snuggles you*

He really is, hah. I just feel there's more tension/angst/seriousness to that pairing. But I like them both actually!

I guess if I had any interest in Supernatural at all any more I might feel differently. But as of the moment... hehe.

I enjoyed Glee because I'm a geek (and a music geek at that), and I enjoy the idea of a show where the geeks get what they want. And the music was really fun. *shrugs* I'd like to have some TV time that doesn't make me sad or make me feel stupid, that's all.

I'll have to give the second half a chance. I remember later thinking I found a lot of the characters unlikeable. But I'll re-watch [the whole thing this time] and see what it's like.

Definitely give Glee another chance, but it depends on how much cheese you can take ;)

Ditto on Juliet, but I was the same with Starbuck too.

I think some of them are supposed to be (and Ryan Murphy's work is going to have an edge, no matter what it is), and I'm not sure than any pilot is going to do justice to the show it's starting up. I'm just happy to have a comedy that I'm excited about, especially after all the drama downers I've dealt with lately.

Like I said on another post, I'm indifferent toward Juliet. Except that I'm hoping her death starts breaking down the Quadrangle of DOOM into nothingness! *is hopeful*

And I HATE Ben and Locke as well. I was pretty okay with Charlie most of the time though. [MY unpopular opinion: I have a huge problem with Claire! I do not want her back on this show!]

*spams you with the Misha because you said we Dayln could* :D → Okay, I'll admit, he does inspire heebes if you don't really know his work or his personality. :)

TBH, to get the Misha thing you'd have to read interviews and watch con footage and such. It's pretty much his personality that makes him awesome. I think he's an attractive guy, but what I love about him is his personality.

Hee! "Poor slashers". :) I'd actually hate being invested in canon pairings as a writer. I think writing slash and non-canon het gives one more freedom, and I like that.

Forgot to mention, I agree w/you re: Juliet too. I don't see the attraction. She's okay - I just don't care about her one way or the other.

I'm going to have to start using adblock plus on your icons, hahaha.

Yeah I remember. I obviously disagree with Claire but that is mostly because I fic her. The character on the show has been really poorly treated and I can easily see why anyone could consider her a waste of space and screentime.

I will have to try again. I didn't realize it was coming in the fall though. I thought it was going to be a summer series.

And yet I love Starbuck. But I feel their characters are complete opposites. Starbuck has much more in common with Sawyer than Juliet.

Yeah definitely understand that. I like to pop in my That 70s Show DVDs or tune in to some Scrubs re-runs if I'm feeling sick of dramatic TV, haha. Always works for me!

I remember a lot of people saying that same thing about Jared. You know, I'm sure he's a lovely guy. From what I have read he's kind of "whatever" about stuff which I can appreciate. Taking it easy and all that. He'd have to be to be in the situation he is in.

I'd actually hate being invested in canon pairings as a writer. I think writing slash and non-canon het gives one more freedom, and I like that. → Yes absolutely. I feel the same way. Honestly if I was more confident at it I'd write more slash. Except,... well I'm not really writing anything lately am I?

For some reason I did not know you felt that about Juliet. I think I started trying to like her, which led to failure which led to indifference which led to annoyance which led to full-on character-hate.

I prefer the McShep of non-slash variety. I am not a slasher. When I say McShep I mean purely their friendship and interactions with each other as the show puts it is enough for me. They are just the best to me but I do love Ronon and Sheppard as well. And Ronon by himself. Hahah that episode where Woolsey asks him for his Mission Report on tape. And it's, like 10 words total? I laughed so hard for so long at that.

I don't love or hate Juliet. She's purely neutral in my book. She's pretty but I always felt she had ulterior motives. Idk.

My favorite character from True Blood is LaFayette. Bitch, you gonna eat my food the way I fucking MAKE IT.

Misha is an odd duck. But I love him for it.

Glee's last 5 minutes are epic! It's such a happy show like Pushing Daisies. It makes me smile. I hope it does well this fall!

I was so conflicted on what icon to use! A Glee icon, SGA, Lost, Castiel or my TB LaFayette icon. :P

Ah! So watch the aired version of the Pilot! Not the pre-air! Because I watched the pre-air and it the pacing/editing of the whole thing was kind of painful. But, I just watched the aired version, and they cut out the dead weight and it's so much better!
