[livejournal.com profile] gigglemonster posted an spn promo and normally I don't [ever] watch them, but this one I did. Am I the only one who thought it was pretty hilarious seeing two able-bodied white dudes set fire to a black guy in a wheelchair? Wow, does it get more symbolic than that? Former show, do you never learn? I realize race discussions are not very cool right now but I couldn't help pointing it out. I heard Jo might be back and thought I might tune in for one episode. But now I'm thinking, nah, I'll just skip it.

Also, I forgot how much I hate Castiel. (Not him exactly, cause I've never even seen a single minute of the last season, just the very idea of him pisses me off.)

I was going to do that music meme, and started to type it all out and everything, but I think I have wasted enough of your time for today. Thanks.

Haha love the icon, Kayl.

Yeah I obviously don't know what's going on with the show and whether they've cleaned up their act, but it was the symbolism that got me. I just had to *facepalm*

I'm sorry dude! I didn't know you what you were posting was going to be the music meme (i guess that's kind of a duh thing on my part) but I would've stuck around to answer it :(

Yeah that part in the promo is not very cool. I know I said in my post that I liked that part but I didn't mean I liked the fact that they're setting the poor man on fire. Cuz yeah that's definitely not buddies. A very large number of things wrong with it.

Ah that's okay I was only halfway through anyway and it was getting hard... to.... type. (What? I'm lazy.)

Yeah I dunno it was kind of the first thing I noticed. Well actually the first thing I noticed was the wheelchair after I realized what was going on with the match. They're kind of always lighting things on fire in that show. But not usually the disabled.

So I think that since you've made so many Dr. George references you have to catch up with The Colony now. It's only fair.

I have this rl friend who always watched spn on and off and all of a sudden thanks to s5 is completely hooked on it and my friend doesn't get hooked easily. and everyone in my flist is very much into spn and well - i wouldn't even consider the show, but it just struck me as really surprising that what has got everyone (even my rl friend) interesting, this castiel man, has turned you off. it kind of makes me want to admire you for swimming against the current - that must be hard.

I guess my issue with Castiel was (and is) slightly complicated.

Season three was an abomination. For various reasons. One being that it just sucked. And another being that there were a lot racism/sexism issues that kind of reached an all time high. (Or low, is probably a better way of putting it.) Which is saying a lot considering this show. People were pissed. Die hards were pissed. Angry, critical, etc. Then the other half of folks thought everyone was being too critical and were upset at them for harshing squees and whatnot.

I guess I was kind of in the middle. I wasn't super angry. It's Supernatural, please. But I was on board. It was kind of undeniable. So while I saw it as an issue/problem/annoying thing about the show. I wasn't about to get out the pitch forks. I was beyond caring because I was just mad at how bad the show sucked that season. Nevermind all the other stuff. And the finale was the worst. I mean, just horrid. So I said "never again" and gave it up.

And then when S4 comes out, everyone goes ga-ga over this new regular character they've added. A young, white, male. And somehow everyone is lulled into loving the show again. How funny. You didn't hear anymore discussion about race and gender. Nobody cared because Castiel was too shiny and new and "hot." And that? I dunno it infuriated me.

And it doesn't surprise me that you wouldn't be interested in this show at all. You actually like and value female characters.

I never notice these race things until people point them out but is that just me? I doubt they were killing him. And if they were, perhaps there could be a demon or something and it was a devil's trap on the floor we can't see. Or it's a summoning type spell or something. It was a circle of fire it looked like around the dude
I think since I'm a big old happy-go-lucky loon who's as bubbly as a washing machine full of a box of detergent I'm too gleeful to see anything bad. But also JO!!!! I'm just excited she's coming back at all. Getting to be a badass hunter. This promo is pretty fucking epic and I've seen it about 3847190 times and I love it and it looks like an amazing apocalypse is going down. Because with the way S4 ended, this is everything I was expecting and more in just 75 seconds.

AND THE SONG. ASFJKLAKSGF:F.

I'm sure it's not just you. It's not uncommon to not notice.

I don't really care what they were doing. The imagery itself is symbolic. But I'm not watching this show, so I'm not really commenting on anything more than that. Their intentions, the narrative, etc. I can't because I don't know because I haven't watched since season three.

I was shocked (and really happy) to hear Jo was coming back. Which is the whole reason I didn't avoid watching that promo when Dayln posted it. But nothing in it made me want to watch this show again, sorry to say.

OMG I KNOW. I was seriously like *headdesk* Show...I don't know how they can't take a look at what they're doing and think: "Wait. Perhaps this is not the best idea we've ever had..."

I don't see how they can't either. Maybe they just don't care? I don't know. Haha. Crazy. Headdeskx100.
