On-island Kate (and Sawyer): I guess I'm just disturbed that both of them would abandon their friends and the people that (we hope) they care about. But I don't know why these types of things surprise me, considering I have been watching this fucking show for six years. I should not be surprised at all at these types of antics. Jin is the only one who makes sense in this scenario. GO JIN.
To Kate, I don't get why she suddenly just now has an unstoppable urge to find Claire and abandon her friends at the TEMPLE OF DOOM. While I still support the sentiment, the timing seems weird.
To Sawyer, I just can't handle it. Please go away. I maintain that after season four, they basically just erased the person he had become. Last season, he morphed into this person who three years later, I could care less about, who seemed fake, and wasn't at all the character I'd grown to viciously love. And this season so far, he's regressed -- only it's not compelling because of what they did to him in season five.
To pill, or not to pill? Let me count the ways in which I DON'T CARE. So Sayid is going to be overtaken, possessed? by something. That's something I care about -- except for the fact that I don't like the idea of it at all. Is killing him the only way?
Flash-sideways (who coined that?) Claire (and Kate): I'm just going to go on record in saying that the flash-sideways thing is just not all that interesting. I was glad to see Claire but not the contrivance that accompanied her. (And the wig, of course.) Fanfic does it so much better.
NO RICHARD! Show? Have we not talked about this? There should always be Richard.
On-island Claire: I knew what was up as soon as they ran across one of not!Danielle's traps. But then they bring the whole thing up about the sickness. This just pisses me off. Wouldn't it simply be a natural progression for Claire to grow protective of herself (and learn how to do so effectively) if she had been abandoned and alone on that island for three years? Why does she have to be infected to do so? Am I to believe that that's not Claire anymore? Because if so, I am NOT HAPPY.

The thing about Claire...they didn't abandon her. First she was with Sawyer and Miles, then she was with...whatever Christitan is. (My vote is that Smokey was living in him at the time.) She seemed very happy with her daddy last time we saw her, didn't she?
But yes, *something* has happened to her. Something BAAAAAAAAAAAD, it looks like. She's gone crazy because she lost her baby just like Danielle did. Maybe that's all it it -- that and she's got the Danielle hair, so she must be a lunatic!

Date: 2010-02-10 10:14 pm (UTC)I don't hate Sawyer -- I hate what the writers have done with him. I could not STAND the Sawyer they wrote for us last season -- and that makes it very difficult to feel at all sorry for him this season or to see this loner-angry-type-regression as something that compels me. I am not compelled. I loved Sawyer and up until s4 I believe his character was the most consistently treated -- he had one of the most believable arcs on the show -- and he doesn't anymore. And that's just sad.
Not looking for her is the same thing as abandoning her. Jin was out every day looking for Rose and Bernard. Who was looking for Claire? As far as we know, no one.
I think painting her as "crazy" would probably make me as upset as telling us that she is no longer who she is. Just cause I don't think Danielle was actually all that crazy -- she was just doing what she had to do. If Claire is Claire and she is just doing what she has to do -- then that is something I can be happy with. But if she's some sort of vessel for something else and is no longer Claire? That I'm not down with.
