It was way better than the latest promo for it made it seem. I think I caught the tail end of a promo some weeks ago and was far less impressed by that than the first promo I'd seen for it and so I began to doubt whether or not I'd like it. But I was pleasantly surprised.
Before we started watching it my mom goes "are they good walking dead or bad walking dead?" I honestly didn't know how to answer that. It felt like a trick question.
Zombies are very very bad! Run!
I think the thing that made it good was focusing on the survivors. Rather than the situation. I mean obviously it focused on that as well but zombie movies can sometimes be all about the zombies which I was afraid this would be but it clearly wasn't in the end.
Plus it had Lennie James in it, which I either didn't know or had forgotten about and I love him and he has the best fake American accent. I hope we see his character again.
My mother even liked it -- she actually spoke actual words about the show after it was over! Which, if you knew my mom, you would know is highly unusual. Half the time when we're done watching something, if I ask her if she liked it she just kind of scoffs at me for asking such a silly question and goes "I don't know." But she was a fan of both Jericho and Prison Break so it's got some of her alums in it to draw her in.
I also have grown to appreciate Jon Bernthal even though I've only seen him in supporting roles. (He was in the Pacific and in Eastwick.)
I am looking forward to next week.
If this show does run for a full season will it be 13 episodes? Does anybody know. If you want to know why I'm asking, it's because my mom wants to know how many episodes there will be. I actually cannot believe she even asked the question. That's so unlike her to even care.
